We called ahead ... they did not mention that kitchen staff was a no show. Opening day (Sunday) NFL season at 1:30pm. No food was served the entire hour we were there. Every table in our section eventually left establishment without getting served their food order. Table across from us ordered and waited 1.5 hours no food showed up and they left. The men that run the bar late nights are the best - Brian always treats my fiancé and I like family! The pretzel logs and wings are my go-to here, but the pasta dishes are just as delicious. This is a first for me: I don't think the decor of a restaurant has ever negatively affected my experience to the point where I lowered my Yelp rating, but here we are. One star for the service: Megan, our waitress was great, and very helpful, both in making sure we were well taken care of and giving good recommendations from the menu. One and a half stars for the food: The Annapolis Rose soup is totally worth getting, and I feel like the kitchen does a good job with a wide range of pub food, though the Parmesan on my salad looked suspiciously like Kraft grated cheese instead of actual grated cheese. So where's the problem? The red and black decor with grey tile made me feel like I was eating in an auto parts store, and the hazard tape on the stair risers to make sure visitors don't trip wasn't helping. If you are going to charge $10-15 for a sandwich, the experience is part of the meal, and the front of the house at West End doesn't match what the kitchen is putting out. read more

This is an ok place to stop in for a beer or two. The food is WAY hit or miss. I tried it several times and had to send it back a couple times. I was told it really all depended on who was in the kitchen. The last time I complained one of the owners came to my table and was irate. He comped my meal then asked me to leave on top of it. The servers were always very nice and attentive but not this prick. I really don't wish for bad things to happen to people but the best thing that could result from a COVID-19 outbreak would be for them to go out of business so a real owner could take over with a level head and consistency. Excellent pub grub with a very hometown feel. Service is always spot on! My recommendations: Chimi (churri) wings, Maryland nachos, seared tuna appetizer, French onion soup, shrimp and grits entree, and all of their sandwiches. I especially LOVE the super messy Eastender - beef slathered in delicious curry gravy. Yes, beef and gravy my good friends, Beef And Gravy. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the Hawaiian pork entree. It was wayyy too sweet to enjoy. I mean, who likes sweet meat? Lol...ok, maybe some people do. This place is definitely worth coming back to over and over again. I went with two friends for some crab, as we were in Annapolis, MD. What else would you want? We got a table right away on a Saturday night at 7pm - no problem. It was clean and everyone was friendly. We were asked if we wanted a table near a specific TV when we came in, which isn't why we were there, but seemed very accommodating if that is why you were at the grill. Me and my two friends split the crab nachos, which were served on house-made potato chips- very rich, and great to share. I can't imagine eating them all myself. My friend ordered the crap soup, which I tried and enjoyed. Salty, but good! I had the steak salad, A little heavy on the dressing, but overall a great take on steak, greens, artichokes and peppers. I didn't really notice the Parmesan cheese. My friend had crab cakes and they were the highlight. No filling- straight crab. Perfect. Unfortunately we were very full and couldn't enjoy the heck out of them as we wanted to. My other friend was satisfied with her fish and chips- the highlight of her meal was the coleslaw- excellent flavor, very light on the cream, keeping the focus on the vegetables. Came here last night with my husband because we were visiting the area and looking for a casual restaurant where he could get a somewhat decent burger. The food was phenomenal! We started off with crab dip and crab soup. The Maryland crab soup is comparable to others in the the area. The crab dip was the best around! Jumbo lumps were plentiful and absolutely no shells. I also got an entree salad, and my husband got a burger. Both were great! All the menu items sounded delicious, we will definitely be coming back when in the area. Our waitress was also very tentative and kind. She came back to check on us multiple times and never let out glasses go dry. Just tried West End Grill for the first time. I drive by it weekly, but never noticed it until today. Great little restaurant. Nice atmosphere for a restaurant/sports bar. There is a quiet section, but near the bar there are several TVs with sports on. I tried the Maryland crab soup and a double house salad with salmon. The upcharge to add salmon to any salad is only $5 and they give you a generous sized and well-cooked portion. It was delicious, though a bit salty due to the kalamata olives. The soup was extremely salty and I probably wouldn't order it again, or if I did, I'd pair it with something a bit more bland. My husband ordered the Simple Salmon with risotto and grilled asparagus. He loved it. The service was EXCELLENT! Our waitress was very attentive, had good recommendations, and even though we were using a coupon, treated us extremely well. We will definitely return to try the crab cakes and the half-off appetizers during happy hour. It was a great find! read more

We love the food here. But every time we come here, the customer service (one server in particular) is quite terrible. We spent a total of 2+ hours here for dinner, and only saw her a few times. It's always a frustration, and we always hope to not be seated in her section, yet it seems we always are. Came to meet friends for a little food and drink. The service was slow but friendly. It's a noisy place, difficult to have conversation. The food is "just ok" my friends had a "French Dip" sandwich and I a crab cake sandwich. A good but not exceptional experience. I guess I was expecting more based on the many positive reviews. To be clear my experience wasn't bad - just not as good as suggested. This was our first time there. The appetizers were excellent (Maryland Nachos, and Peruvian Shrimp). The Entrees while better than most you'll find in a Sports Bar where nothing extraordinary. We ordered Steak Frites, and Fort Severn Rockfish. The steak dish was ordered "Medium" but came out raw in the middle (not rare - raw). It also had an obvious taste of "burnt" - not charcoal burnt like on a grill. It tasted like the sause on the steak had burned in the sauce pan. The fish, while OK didn't appear to be fresh, and although there was some crab in the sauce, it was very little. The dessert while very good took more than 15 minutes to show up. There are a lot of great ratings, and I'd certainly call it a solid "3", so perhaps we showed up on an off day. read more

This is our regular Sunday night drinking spot. Bartenders are always friendly. Recently I held my best friend's baby shower in their banquet room. It was intimate, cozy and turned out awesome! Never in my life have I, nor my date encountered such palatable and blatant racism by the bartender/ server who apparently noticed and served everyone else but blatantly ignored our table. I had to ask other servers for basics and break my neck to get him to look our way after at least 10 plus attempts. Horrific and down right rude. I wouldn't feed my dog here. This place has great service and even better happy hour food specials for adults and kids. Lauren has been our server for every visit and we miss her when she's not working. Their wings are absolutely the best around - not fatty, perfectly cooked, healthy portion. Crab dip with two baguettes is just enough to share and almost be full. The inside is a little chopped up but after a few visits, you'll get used to where you like to sit. They have all the games on and it's a definite when the Caps or Terps are playing. We will of course return and definitely sit where Lauren can help you. For the reviews that they were waiting for a hostess, it's typically a seat yourself place at night time - they will definitely see you and bring menus and silverware over. We went there for Valentine's Day. I know, bad choice. That's what happens to us slackers that don't start calling places 'til 2 days ahead of time. Better luck next year. I went knowing that this isn't going to be a "romantic" dinner, but still. This review is for the "restaurant" part, not bar. The bar looked like it could get lively for games or later at night, but we were there for dinner, or that's what I thought. The bar was so up in our space, too much for me. There didn't really seem to be any area in the restaurant that wasn't all up in the bar area. I could hear the games on TV & people yelling, etc. I get that this is a sports bar restaurant, but it would have been nice to have a little more separation. At times I had to re-ask what my bf was saying b/c of others yelling. It wasn't like that the whole time, but enough. Our server was really nice, but we didn't see her too much. Granted, we didn't need her, but if we did, we would have been s*** out of luck. Bonus--- all wine & champagne (yeah, I'm not gonna get champagne there) was 1/2 off. We started w/a crab dip app. Sounded good, the server said it was good. Not good. It was like a super-thick mayo infused pink dip. I felt like I was spooning mayo in my mouth. Gross. For dinner my bf ordered a burger- which he liked enough (fries were yummy). Normally not his choice, but he couldn't find much else that looked good (not to say there selection is that bad). I got the seared tuna dinner. Honestly, this was a VERY similar dinner to the seared tuna & 4 Seasons (in Gambrills/Crofton) which I love, but West End missed the mark. The tuna was good, not great. The side of mashed potatoes infused w/wasabi- vomit (literally, my bf got sick the next day and he said they tore up his throat on the way back up- b/c of the spice, sorry for the mental image you now have). WAY spicy and just a bad combo- it's like they were trying too hard. The side of veggie slivers, left on my plate. Overall- I think this place might be fine for lunch or drinks or something. But, for a normal dinner (v-day excluded) it just didn't work, for us that is. The atmosphere killed it before the food did (neither of which is that bad, but with too many other choices in the area, chains included, this deserves a 3 star rating). read more

This place was disgustingly dirty!!! The booths had holes in them and the floor was extremely sticky. I only stayed because it was a friend's birthday dinner. I ordered a hamburger thinking that would be safe. WRONG! I got really sick once I got home. I wish this place would be shutdown already! Ordered, what they call, the world's best burger. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium well. It was still a little juicy, but far from the world's greatest burger. The bread was very good, but they don't toast the inside. The whole science behind toasting the inside of the bun isn't necessarily because people like toasted bread, it's to keep the bread from getting soggy resulting in a soggy, nasty burger. The meat itself had little flavor, and was not seasoned well at all. Overall, not a terrible burger, but FAR from the world's greatest burger. It's better than Five Guys and other similar burger joints. But, when you're claiming the world's best burger, they need to step it up! read more

Went here based on other Yelps. What a great find! The bar has great big screen TVs and a lively crowd. The dining rooms are great. Very comfortable. The menu is lots of fun -- crispy pork carnitas, flat iron steaks, specialty salads, grilled chicken sandwich with avacado and bacon... and much more.
