I've been coming here for about 10-15 years. It's not a fancy restaurant by any means but who cares! Food is tasty and hits the spot. If your on a diet I wouldn't come here. It's PACKED on weekend mornings but they get you in and out. Good service from waitress and management. I appreciate their appreciation for the military also. read more

i come here mostly on the weekends for a good breakfast and i leave happy every time. you can tell this is a family oriented business because everybody from the manager to the wait staff say hello and make sure i'm ok. really good food and good prices ... 11/10/2018 just wanted to update my review and say i continue to enjoy this place ... i sit at the diner side where they are getting the food and i love seeing the hustle by staff .. it's a well ordered "caos" if you will meaning everyone is busting tail to get food make sure things are going in and food coming out .. they make it look easy .. i again appreciate staff who aren't even waiting in my coming by to make sure i'm okay and refilling my coffee and clearing my section ... everyone helps each other .. coffee is always fresh .. food is great and pretty good portions (but not so huge you are overwhelmed) and everyone treats you like family ... read more

Great food, classic atmosphere. This is the go to place for my son and his TCU buddies the morning after hearty TCU events. I went in mid August (brought son back to school...sigh) and was not disappointed! Don't panic if there are a lot of people waiting at the front...seating is quick and efficient. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious. Biscuits and gravy - excellent! Service is great...I think I had too much coffee given the coffee pot circulation frequency. You can count on a great meal no matter what any time of the day. I have been there countless times and never been disappointed. Not once. I get great coffee, great service, kind people who take care of my aging Dad, my family from PA, my family in TX and tolerate me from Cali :) The food is yummy, morning, noon and night. It's my Dad's favorite place to eat. Personal faves: all the breakfast meats (the smoking) plus great fry cooks, biscuits and gravy (I cannot have anymore). I'm celiac, they care about that and you, so tell your waitress what you need. Also, they have great food (all three meal times) for heart healthy, but the oatmeal goes fast. However, I do not go to Texas to eat like a Californian, so I love the sausage! Period. And, everyone at our table loves everything they order. I eat smoked meats in Texas, and especially here...amazing! My Uncle from PA loves the sausage here, too, cannot get enough of it. One thing, the photo, doesn't do the place justice. Even a new photo won't do it justice, but they have done work on the facade and its nice. Had a bad experience recently when my wife and I went there for breakfast. It was our first time and it turned into our last time. When we arrived a young female "Hostess" asked how many we were, which we told her 2. She wore a light blue t shirt that had "Relentless" written on her back. She appeared to be annoyed that we showed up. She never said another word to us, didnt asked how we wete doing, pretty much seemed mad. She never offered us a booth or table and sat us down at a table. We didnt like where we were being seated so I asked if we could be seated at a booth. Ms. Attitude then rolled her eyes again as if we were ruining her day. I then sternly asked her "Is thete a problem here?" She calmly responded No. After we were seated we got our drinks and ordered our food. We had ordered breakfast items. The food came out fast and hot, but for some reason was only OK. We have been to many breakfast in many places in the DFW area. Somehow this place missed the mark. The pancakes were again just OK. I think the food would have tasted better if we were treated better from the begining. Said person should check her attitude before she chased away more customers. At least she wont habe to worry about us anymore. read more

It is a small little cafe where it seems all the locals go, and at the wrong time they are ALL there lll. Food quality was very good, service was quick and friendly. I had the pancakes and eggs both of which I recommend, and I went with the peach cobbler, which in my opinion was not the best I have had, but still pretty good. Late Lunch on Friday 09/28/17 We have passed this place several times and today the timing was right. Stopped in a bit before 2:00 for a late lunch and it was still very crowded. Upon entering, our first impression (for you locals) was Paris Coffee Shop or R&K Cafe. A long counter with bar stools and large open seating areas with tables and booths. Nicely lit, lots of memorabilia and pictures on the walls, a very "homey" feel. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated in the back section as the front was full. The greeter asked about drinks & immediately brought our iced tea. In a flash, our waitress brought the menu's' and introduced herself as Kayla. I told her this was our first visit, she expressed her appreciation and excused herself so we could check out the menu. She returned quickly, hubby ordered Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese. For me, the Friday lunch special of beef tips, squash casserole and a diner salad. While we waited, a gentleman came to the table, I believe he said his name is a Dwayne, thanked us for coming, wanted to know how we heard about the place, asked our names, shook our hands & thanked us for coming in. The beef tips were quite good, salad crisp & dressing fresh but the casserole was just ok, a bit dry & a slight sweet taste I didn't care for. Hubby really liked his meal very much, chicken fried steak was not frozen mystery meat, mashed potatoes were the real thing & seasoned well, the mac & cheese tasted fresh, not mushy. Tea is really good and was refilled often as we ate. Dessert is made at the cafe so Hubby had a piece of coconut pie. The crust was quite tasty & flaky, the filing was ok, but instead of meringue it has a cream topping which we are not too fond of. However, when we were walking out we saw big pieces of oatmeal cake and chocolate cake and we were told the pumpkin pie is awesome. Kayla cut up with us whenever she came to the table and made the visit even more enjoyable, just a delightful young woman. Before we left she asked our names, reminded us of hers and invited us back & to be sure and ask for her section. As we walked to the front to pay our check the same Dwayne called us by name, asked about the food and service and invited us back. Also, the restroom was clean and tidy. This place is always busy, so you might have to wait for a booth or table, but the wait is more than definitely worth it. The food is absolutely tremendous, service is good and quick. There is nothing on the menu that I haven't enjoyed. Now this isn't a fancy, high dollar eating place, but a good old fashioned cafe, well managed and below reasonable prices. This place is managed so well we often say of other restaurants: "they should send their manager to West Side for training." We have eaten here for ten years now. We can count on it for getting in and out quickly. The meals are a good value but we like breakfast the best and 90% of our visits have been for breakfast. I like that the person who takes you to your table is the one who gets you your drink order right away. I like they have 'runners' to get the food out to the table as soon as it is ready instead of your food waiting for your waitress to deliver. I like that they leave the check when your food gets delivered. They have a huge number of employees to make sure the customers get taken care of. Sure, we get bored with the menu some but aren't kidding when we say we have chosen to drive ten extra miles to eat at West Side because we know we'd have our meal and be back home faster than if we'd chosen to eat at the Cheddars near us. We know a packed waiting area at a restaurant is a turn off but do try West Side. We know from experience that the two of us can enter the full waiting area at West Side and get seats less than 10 minutes later. read more

Wife and I ordered the old fashioned cheeseburger and I immediately became 6 years old again in the early 60's at a flat top grill type diner. Without a doubt, one of the best cheeseburgers I've had in decades. Just simple; patty, mustard, diced onions, tomatoes and lettuce (I had to have jalapenos, she didn't).
