This place is super cute on the inside. You could spend an hour just looking at the walls to see all the different things. I have had a version of the trash breakfast when I was visiting Joplin, Missouri. This version was descriptively better. The gravy was not congealed like it was in Missouri. It was nice and light and flowed over everything. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Overall, this was a 10 out of 10. Wife enjoyed her chicken and waffles. The chicken was very juicy fresh, and appeared to have been battered here did not come frozen in a bag. Our waitress Alma was super kind and got our order perfectly. We had a group of 11 people, six adults, four children and a baby. They got us set up very quickly, which was a blessing when you're waiting with a bunch of kids lol. We went two days in a row. The first lady that waited on us was amazing to was always there to fill our coffee cups back up to make sure we had creamer and honey and butter and extra napkins. We were very well taken care of. The ambiance is beyond incredible, so retro, you walk in and you're immediately greeted by I Love Lucy playing on the tv and a bunch of merchandise! Not to mention cinnamon rolls bigger than my head. We came for the GIANT cinnamon roll! And it did not disappoint! It is the size of an entire large to go box and is only served Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ok, first off this place has been around for over 30 years and looks like it's run by a really sweet couple who has an extensive classic memorabilia collection! Each dining room has a different theme - I Love Lucy, Cola Cola, Hollywood, and another one but can't remember what it was. This place is like taking a step back in time - to the best of old times! The owner was awesome and all the staff were friendly and smiling. Everyone that came in (while we were there) were treated like family. This place is so cute. I love that it has a mom and pop feel with all the collectibles and decor. My hubby loves coca cola things so he thought it was awesome and the food and service was great. I had the breakfast trash looks messy but tastes great. My hubby had the patty melt with a side of chili, he said both were some of the best his tasted in a long time. My sister used to live in Haltom City. I believe her boyfriend used to love coming here. Every time, I passed by this place it was packed! My friend, Lisa took me to Church and wanted to come eat here. I was all for it, since I've been wanting to come here for years now. I'm so glad I did. It was a five-star experience! I noticed a few things. The parking lot has dimmed parking spaces. The outside of the restaurant has Bluebonnets on the windows. It was super crowded as we walked in. There was a line to pay at the register. The people were courteous and left a space so you can walk by. We were greeted right away. A young girl seated us to our table quickly. We had a friendly waitress that was very personal. She was decked out in St Patty's gear. She mentioned her Shamrock earrings were for sale with the Cashier. I noticed they were $4.00. I decided to get a bowl of Chili and some cornbread. It was only 7.50. My cornbread was soft, fluffy and a good serving portion. My bowl of Chili was really good it didn't taste like it was out of a can. It was a good size too. Our kind waitress brought out free Chocolate Chip Cookies. They weren't round they were square They were warm, crunchy with a hint of butter. I enjoy looking at all the vintage decor. They have a lot of decor of I Love Lucy, Rod Stewart and The Wizard of Oz just to name a few. If you're ever in Haltom City I would definitely recommend this Cafe. Had another good meal at Bluebonnet Cafe! Local diner vibes and attentive service. On weekends they sell sweet buns (the size of your face-$5) until they run out. To rewarm, they suggest putting some butter on top and microwaving for 1min. There are also cute earrings for sell at the check-out counter for under $5. You get a free cookie with your meal if you'd like it. The staff are really friendly and work well together. The burgers are 1/2 pound and very good. Although today's wasn't as juicy as before (slightly over cooked) but great flavor. Served on a sturdy wheat bun with fresh veg and pickles. You get a choice of fries or chips. The fries are tasty but limpy - not my personal favorite but they are my Dad's favorite type of fries! My Dad got the pork chop meal that he really enjoyed with vegetables & salad. It's a thin bone in chop. Portions are large. Menu has a ton to chose from. Everyone's meals coming out looked good and the place was full of happy people enjoying their food. Easy parking in lot in-front of building. My one suggestion would be to have an option for a smaller burger. We will be back! read more

I feel like a failure. How have I NEVER been to this adorable cafe!!?!?! We arrived around 0900 on a Friday. Pulling into the parking lot there were probably more than a dozen cars in the lot that seemed to be for Bluebonnet. By the time we left, the place was PACKED!!!! Clearly a joint we have been missing out on!!!! So many people knew others. The waitstaff greeted customers like family. Guests hugged other guests on the way out. It for sure felt like, "When you're here, you're family!! " The vibe is killer. Each room has a different themes. We sat in the Coca Cola Room. It was quite the treat because the wife and I have collected Coke memorabilia for decades. Neat to see stuff we never had, and spot things we own! The staff and the owner are so sweet and kind! They restaurant is close Monday-Wednesday, which is great information to have!!! Lots of the staff have been working there for YEARS!!!! That really tells you something about the owners and management! Also....they do an INCREDIBLE job at keeping the place dust free! Typically when a restaurant has loads of wall decorations, they get looked over. Dust and cobwebs accumulate. You won't see that at Bluebonnet Cafe! The wife got her standard chicken friend steak breakfast. I order the pork chop breakfast. My only complaint and it's minor, it the pork chop is very thin. I absolutely love this place! I've been here several times over the last two years. We live in haltom and I love supporting local places, as Haltom gets a bit of a bad wrap. First off the character of this place is unsurpassed. There's 3 main rooms: one is decked in I love Lucy memorabilia, another in classic Coca Cola, and the third in old farmhouse. So charming and unique. The waitresses still use old paper waiting checks which is so cool. The food is great! Typical diner food. The large buns they do on the weekends are worth the trip alone. My dad is in his 70s and he loves this place, definitely a nod to the past. I'm not sure this place has changed in decades! read more

I'm TOTALLY unfamiliar with the area, so I let Yelp be my guide when I was looking for a quick breakfast. The first 4 reviews in my feed were all 5 star and raves about everything. My mileage varied. Then you walk in and your hit with the I Love Lucy theme. Like every square inch has something pertaining to that show. Well, that's kinda cool and very unique. I not the other dining rooms were 50's nostalgia as well, and had old TV shows playing on the TVs. It took a minute to get anyone's attention to be seated, as it seemed they were just opening. It was a tic after 8am. Regardless, the service was fine after that. On to the food. I ordered the Bluebonnet Special- three eggs any style, hash browns or grits, toast or biscuit and gravy, hot breakfast sausage or bacon. I went with soft scrambled and they were perfect. I also went with hash browns scattered and crispy. Also cooked perfectly but musta used old oil as they were very greasy and tasted that way too. The biscuit was nice and fluffy but the gravy was bland and a bit runny. Then there was the sausage. Not very spicy, and a funky flavor. Bad enough I didn't eat the second patty. Coffee was hot and I like they have real half and half. Sometimes the planets just don't align. This might have been an off day for the cook? Now i'm left wondering how much marketing money they spend on the good reviews. We ordered a breakfast chicken fried steak, lunch chicken fried steak and a pancake kids meal. Everything arrived at the table cold. Let's start with the sides. The "ranch" potatoes and french fries were greasy and had NO seasoning, not even salt. The fried okra was wet with grease and no seasoning. The scrambled eggs could not be real with how fake and rubbery they were, and surprise..no flavor. The biscuits we did not even get a chance to try but the 2.50 for side gravy was also..bland. The pancakes were thin and very similar to the freezer ones that you heat up in the microwave. I've save the best for last...the flavorless chicken fried "steak". It was more of a mystery meat that had uncooked pink polkadots. (Not even sure how you get that inconsistency in cooking meat.) "It"must have been dipped in wet flour and fried in old grease. We had a taste of our sides and only took one bite of the CFS's and decided that we were not going to continue to eat the food that was served. We politely (kinda even embarrassed) told the server about how the food was not edible and she acted shocked but a bit annoyed. We got referred to the cashier, who was also the owner. She was not very receptive, I explained the situation and she looked at us like we were crazy, and said that's impossible because nobody ever complains about the food. (The reviews here say otherwise, but let's continue.) She asked what we had ate some of and began to add up the à la cart pricing for EACH item. At the end, we got charged with what we could manage to eat. A slice of bacon, an egg, a small salad and a coffee. We were charged 21 dollars and no apology. I've been here many times and enjoy both the food and service. The deduction of stars is because of the pricing for kids. This is the second time I've taken my grandkids and we didn't receive a kids menu and didn't need one as they only wanted a pancake. One pancake $6, whipped cream, $1.25, Childs sized tea $3.25, total $10.50 for a meal for a 4 year old . Last time they even charged $3 for 2 strawberries. A nice small business near my home. We wanted a nice breakfast, and decided to go here. So they are open Thursday-Sunday for breakfast and lunch. The strip had ample of parking when we went around 10 am for breakfast. Has to wait for a couple of mins to be seated as it was pre Valentine's day and a frigid morning and no one wanted to sit near the door tables. We were 2, but got. Long table that can possibly seat 12-16 people. The service was quick our order was take within 5 mins as we knew what we want to order. Later a party of 3 joined on other side of the table and as it was definitely a good distance to maintain social distancing we were okay sharing the table. We ordered, coffee, orange juice (they were okay, nothing too significant to mention about them) Migas and burritos looked simple but tasted heavenly, we loved it. The interior had a lot of Rod Stewart memorabilia and the restaurant has a small jewelry station too, that is marked as everything $5. Next time i go, will buy something as they had a nice collection. Business takes credit cards but encourage to pay cash, and we are glad we had enough cash to pay the bill and cover tip as we don't carry a lot of cash with us.
