Relatives brought us here for breakfast and it was the epitome of a popular neighborhood mom and pop shop. Everyone seemed to know each other and congregated here for good affordable food. My partner had the scrapple and I tried it, a first for this southern boy. It was crisp and tasty, soooo much better than liver mush. We've lived within blocks of this restaurant for 15 years, & this was the first time we'd eaten there. Never heard anything about it that made me inclined to visit - so we didn't. Here's my take: We went there for breakfast early on a Wednesday morning, about 8am. I ordered coffee, 2 eggs (over easy, 2 pancakes, & 2 strips of bacon. The eggs were just right, the pancakes light & fluffy. Sadly, it went downhill from there. The coffee was harsh, sour-tasting, & couldn't be doctored enough with sweetener or cream to make it worth finishing. The bacon was rubbery, cold, & dripping in grease, so I requested two replacement pieces. They were in practically the same condition. My friend got the chipped beef gravy over toast, & said it was so salty, she could hardly eat it. i didn't sample hers, so I can't vouch for it, I can tell you I wont be going back anytime soon. read more

What some may call a diner, this place is always packed every time I drive by it. Going to eat, it's full of regulars on the inside, the waitress know those patrons orders. Breakfast all day is always enjoyable. The food was ok, seating is cramped, but as busy as it was on a Sunday the service was good. It's def worth a visit if in the mood for diner food. read more

I have lived in Milford for only 10 years , One of my favorite places in this town is Westside Restaurant , I am always busy and the fact that just about every other morning I order from them because of there great food and great people associated with this establishment. My wife and I always look for a place to eat when we wander around, that has lots of local license plates in the parking lot. West Side certainly was packed with locals when we went to eat breakfast late Saturday morning. We had to wait for a table about ten minutes. We could have been seated sooner but the hostess explained that someone had called ahead a reservation for 25! When we were seated our waitress was prompt and welcoming. Our food came quickly. It was normal American breakfast fare and I enjoyed it very much. We both ordered a veggie omelet and I took mine with a side scrapple and a fruit cup. The fruit cup was fresh cut, including some nice apple slices. Coffee was hot and seconds were readily available. I do want to comment on the diversity we found at the place, especially since one commenter above suggested that the staff might be unwelcoming to a diverse clientele. We loved the diversity at the restaurant. There was a nice mix of ethnic groups being served and they all seemed to be having a good time. We'll go back there again for sure. read more

The food here is good, I actually quite enjoy the food. When I have gone there with just my youngest daughter the service is good, friendly and kind. ( I am white with blond hair and blue eyes ,my daughter white, has sandy brown hair and green eyes).That being said, whenever i go with my husband ( he has olive skin and dark brown hair, almost black,and light brown eyes. Kind of Italian looking) we are constantly stared at and we are treated completely different. The friendly and kind atmosphere turns cold and indifferent. The only difference in these two scenarios is my husband. It is extremely off putting and makes us very uncomfortable everytime we go in. This is the sort of place that you stop by when plowing through Delaware at max speed. You expect to get some food and be out and barely pay attention. Suddenly you realize the food is lovely and the staff is patient. This place is clean and people are happy. It is surrounded by sad looking strip malls and corp[orate nonsense. Since so many people drive from the NE to VA/NC/SC through this corridor, I recommend you stop in and have your lunch here. I will next time I go back to the Outer Banks. We stopped in here for a late breakfast after a day of driving. We waited 10 minutes or so for a table. On this day the place was filled with locals and families. Everyone appears to know each other including the staff. Eggs over easy were cooked perfectly, no browning and came with two large flavorful links of sausage. Home fries were plenty but needed a bit more seasoning. It also came with two slices (large!) of generously buttered wheat toast. My dining partner went with one of his favorites, creamed chipped beef on toast with home fries. This was also not seasoned and would have benefited from some salt and pepper. Coffee was good as was the service. The total bill was under $13. It's not a destination for me but a welcomed waypoint. read more

We are traveling through Delaware and always like to check out the local spots if possible. Our hotel had a list of 16 suggestions and we almost went to Applebees until I noticed the old-school diner description for West Side. The place was full, Thursday night 6:30 ish and we were seated right away, and we asked our waitress about the crab fries. Being only her second day she was honest and suggested we try them and we could tell her how we liked them. They were very good as was everything else we ordered, the soup, crab cakes, fresh vegetables, flounder and cole slaw. If you like fresh food served hot at a very reasonable price the West Side Restaurant is a great spot in Milford! read more

When you think of Milford, you need to thing the Westside. Always packed weekends and the best fish and chips inland. Always a winner!

First took my sister to eat breakfast there and then took my parents to eat breakfast there. Why?! Great food, great prices and great service. You are treated like family from beginning to end and the food tips it off like a warm hug. You must eat here!! Grits to die for, actual sausage links, pancakes are light and fluffy, omelet was one of the best my dad has ever had and the coffee was perfect. Wait staff was great and food was good. However, a lady clearly in charge (I think she was the owner) was loudly and rudely yelling at one of the waitresses. We were taken here by some locals, as we normally eat in the Rehoboth Beach area when in Delaware. I was impressed by the warm, welcoming service. Our waitress was lovely. Can't understand complaints about the cleanliness (on TripAdvisor) as the bathrooms were extremely well-kept & clean, and the restaurant generally was well-tended. I especially liked my spanikopita with a generous dollop of tzaziki sauce. Fresh sliced tomatoes as a garnish were perfect complement to the spanokopita. The garden salad which accompanied was quite fine, considering the month (almost Dec), but highlight was the homemade bleu cheese dressing (rich, but worth the splurge). I want to return for the $5.99 crab cake sandwich (makes Rehoboth look like robber barons where crab cakes run $13) and for the $5 or $6 veggie burger. This place is a keeper. Was trying to exercise restraint following Thanksgiving pie 2 days prior, so didn't order dessert. However, took close look at revolving glass case, and the bread pudding & Greek rice pudding looked delicious. They also offered a pretty large assortment of pies. I will be back. read more
