We attended Nerd Night at West Street Market last night. We ate dinner at Thali and then sat down in the indoor courtyard to listen to the speakers. The topics included: Why The Most Terrifying Creatures Became My Pets The Job Of Music Producers Very informative and entertaining night! It was crowded with young and old folks. I liked the mix! This maybe the longest span of tenancy for the WSM. In the past, I never wanted to like a business here because it would likely be gone soon. The vibe is kind of cool but feels a little like a commune or hippie collective with mostly vegan offerings. With that said I enjoy the food and service at Thalia and Sabrina's. The market is bicycle friendly with a cool bike rack inside the courtyard. read more

Really cute group of restaurants that share a large courtyard. There is a restaurant here that would suit everyone's taste. It's downtown which makes for challenging parking, but there is a close parking garage and they validate. I am going to return and try every restaurant there! read more

One of my goals for the rest of the year is to chill more. I don't have to do all the things. I just have to do The Things. ⁠ ⁠ I took advantage of the beautiful weather to stroll around town and meet a girlfriend at West Streer Market. We chilled at the vibrant patio, chatted our hearts out and enjoyed and enjoyed ice cream from Bibo Freddo. West street market is a cute little collective of restaurants offering lots of food choices for every type of eater! There is pizza, Indian food and what my friend described as, "vegan comfort food." There are menu items with everything from meat to vegan entrees. This is a great place to go with a group as there are lots of options for everyone, and there is a common seating area for all of the restaurants. I opted for the pizza place, and got the pizza shown in my photo. It was really good, but a bit overpriced. $30 for a personal pizza seemed like a bit much for me. Around the dining area they also showcase art from what I assume to be local artists. Which I thought was really cool. read more

What a great idea. One place to gather with several types of food. I visited for lunch with my mom today, and we were able to have Indian, pizza, and spring roll style hand salads. Such a fantastic did adventure. I imagine meeting here with friends and trying a whole bunch of things as a group, while sitting around, chatting and catching up. The pizza was great. The vegan crust was not my favorite in Reno. Maya's was delish but a bit spicy for me. Deluxe made my mom an awesome wrap that she loved. It was a bit slow when we went in during lunch, but I imagine it being a great atmosphere at night or on the weekend. I do wish they opened for breakfast. read more

I adore thIs little collection of food establishments. Everything from Mexican and Indian to pizza and gelatto. It's a great place to go with groups because everyone can order from the variety of independent restaurants and then come back and enjoy their meal together. This place has a real community and local feel to it, and I love that I typically run into someone I know when I'm visiting. Definitely recommend checking it out for something different from the norm. read more

This might be the most under utilized venue in our great city. Every time I'm here I wonder why more isn't going on. They have a killer courtyard with tons of seating perfect for schmoozing, sipping, and slacking, along with a bunch of great resident restaurants that are happy to serve up the suds or pour that perfect glass of wine to help you while away the day. It's a shame that such an epic patio doesn't have a live band filling it with tantalizing tunes weekly. The interior is an incredible comunity space which, at one point, had all sorts of amenities including AV. But what it lacks now can always be brought in because all the infrastructure is there, not to mention great food and drink too!The place has so much potential, and it seems like a great candidate for community contributions so I want to see if we can help. First off, if you're a local band, or group looking for a place to jam or drum circle, or someone that knows someone like this, let me know. West Street Market was a Downtown Redevelopment Project that took some very old very rundown buildings and refurbished them to create a multi-use space for food, retail and entertainment. It really helped take a very seedy section of downtown, and turn it into a viable space for tourists and locals alike. When we first moved to downtown, it seemed that West Street Market was struggling to find its niche. I think it is finally a success. There is a center courtyard that is surrounded by food and beverage venues. If you are thinking "mall food court" think again. This is more like a European town plaza with have a range of local and regional fare. The open courtyard is a great setting for music and other arts entertainment as well as open air markets and crafts fairs. the court yard also serves for outside seating for the restaurants that surround it - Z-Pies, Bowl, Niko's, and Rawr. In side there is a large open space that also serves for seating for the restaurants. It is a great gathering place and the exposed brick and high ceilings really help with the casual cool urban vibe. There is parking in the city parking lot on 1st street and limited street parking which is free after 6:00 PM. It really helps serve as a hub to our downtown neighborhood - a welcome spot for both locals and visitors. read more

Went here for a birthday party, didnt really eat here but the staff was really welcoming and most of all the atmosphere was very laid back and yet seemed like a very nice place to eat. Overall the food looked decent, but since I didnt try any I'm not going to hurt them with a loss of a star. I gave them 5 stars on a clean environment, laid back atmosphere and a welcoming staff. Love this place! Basically it's a funky answer to a strip mall in downtown Reno. Instead of big box stores it's a mix of bars and restaurants and meeting space. I'm not sure if the meeting space is still available. Many restaurants/bars have come and gone. The West Street Wine Bar is the touch stone being there the longest. Current tenants besides the wine bar -- Thali, Sol, Deluxe. Coming soon Icecycle Creamery and just across the patio is Eclectic Eats (I think that's the name) a few eatery with soups, salads & paninis). The seating options are many - bar seating at Sol and West Street Wine Bar. Table seating in Thali. Open seating in the main hall and patio seating. Lots of good stuff going on here so if you have been in a while it's with checking them out. read more

I love this funky place in downtown, which pretty much presaged the rise of Midtown in style and flavor. After over a decade, none of the original tenants are still there, though despite changing hands three times, the wine bar is still a wine bar. I think they've finally hit their stride with a collection of hospitality businesses that rival any in the city. Every single one of the food vendors is among the best restaurants in town. There's a small stage for solo or duo musical acts in the big room, and a really decent stage with a first-rate digital sound system in the back room. Great food, live music, friendly vibe. Everything I want Reno to be. If you're daunted by the parking situation, they validate for the parking garage right behind it. Definitely a semi-hidden gem in our biggest little city. read more

UGH. I hate when Yelpers overuse the phrase "hidden gem." Guess what, this is Reno's hidden gem. This little warehouse like space has had its share of restaurants and wineries that have come and gone, unfortunately. Now the reason I come is for Thali - one of those one-off pop up little restaurants that just shine with great food and service. The outdoor space is dog friendly and can have shade during the summer. It's a wonderful location if you've got a group of people who are looking for a more subdued spot to congregate and perhaps share a drink or meal. read more

This place is so different now compared to 8 or 10 years ago. I love seeing a "under dog" type of place having a rebirth and West Street Market has done just that. Even though we were here on a Thursday night in a cold cold cold winter night, inside the market, there were a lot of customers having dinners lovingly prepared by Deluxe, Thali. After a good meal, you have choices for good glass of wine or cup of Kava, or a cup of ice cream, sitting down to enjoy some music. For mid Summer Nights, I am pretty sure there would be a lot more going on. We sure look forward to coming back here after a walk by the river when weather is nicer outside.... read more

Great eateries here. Lots of table options. Not a great place for working as there are very few outlets and no available WiFi. The Indian food place, deLux, and the ice cream joint are all yummy! I haven't tried the pizza place...they may very well be yummy too. A couple years ago, the West Street Matket was a ramshackle of businesses in a sketchy food court setting that most people only visited on wine walks. But the West Street Market has undergone some serious changes and major improvements in the last couple years, adding a lineup of totally unique and powerful local businesses to make a fully rounded out experience. With places like Maya's South Indian/Thali, The Deluxe, Pizza Collective, Sabrina's West Street Kitchen, and Bibo Freddo, this is a one stop shop for a fully rounded out meal and a great dining experience. Only place left is the Pizza place, DeLuxe closed, bibo going to close, the wine bar was ruined and Sabrina's which is ok but meh. Management is horrible and it ruined this place, to bad because it was starting to pick up when Esoteric wine bar was bringing in crowds but Thali ruined the wine bar when they decided to take it back from the only person that made it a success, now, ghost town. read more
