Wow this place has so much stuff. It's like a warehouse for horse needs. I will definitely come back. I took pictures because for whatever reason no one else has. I bought a Christmas halter, a curb chain and a water bottle holder for my saddle. Wish I had more money to buy all the other things I wanted. Friendly staff too.

This is the best tack and feed shop in the East Bay, hands and heels down! See what I did there? ;-)

Frank, Carolyn and the boys are always so helpful (and not in the hovering, pushy kind of way:) Great selection and fair prices.

PRO - lots of options CON - Cost!…read more CON - Customer Service! Check the expire dates on your promo gift cards! I was sucked into their promo gift card deal in Dec. Spent $200+ get $100. I received the "promo gift card" on 12/30/2025 and it expired 1/31/2026. I didn't see that part and they refused to extend. My mistake but customer service could have honored it especially considering how much money we all spend there. Note to self: shop local or shop where the value you and will extend a simple expiration date. I paid more for the item thinking the gift card made it a better value - should have bought from the other site. Oh well. Lesson learned - kind of like milk - check your expire dates!

I've wanted to learn horseback riding since pretty much forever but due to the cost involved, this has never been a possibility for long (I managed to volunteer at an equestrian center for a summer while I was in college in exchange for lessons, but it's been a while..). Truth be told, we popped in here mainly because we wanted to just be able to get an idea of what to look for and to compare brand sizing. Originally the plan was to actually commit to buying something after we'd first secured a place where we're able to take lessons. This is not what happened at all, but the staff was such a dream to work with (we were helped by Carla and Kelsie)! They answered all our questions, helped to fit us for paddock boots, half chaps, and helmets + find sizing for long boots too, and even gave us some good contacts for stables that might be able to accommodate the scheduling/time constraints we have. We will definitely be back! (Our wallets are crying but our hearts are happy! ) They/I made the very fortunate discovery that I fit kid's sizes, which helped save a good chunk of change (+ yay for the holiday sale!). I am absolutely up for anything that helps to save monies as this is nottt a cheap hobby, haha.

When you first see it, you think "wow, they really went to a lot of trouble decorating this place!" and then realize, "Oh, this place must have been here forever - this is real!" - and it is! it's the real deal. Inside, you'll find the best selection of Western saddles I've seen anywhere, with options for all kinds of riding styles. The store has a tremendous selection of tack - including everything from bits, bridles, headstalls, halters, leads and ropes to grooming supplies, horse care products, saddle pads, and hoof picks. I really like Gary - he's very experienced and knowledgeable and has been in business for decades. He's always happy to answer questions and share his advice and expertise. He's full of stories and jokes and positive energy and I enjoy visiting with him. Whatever question I ask him, regardless of how basic, he does his best to help in a friendly way. Prices are very fair and reasonable. Whether you're new to riding or experienced, this is a place you'll want to visit. The store cat is also very friendly.

I breathed a sigh of relief because I had bought her gifts already but knew this was the last one. I ask her what she would like to buy Mommy at the saddle shop? Her eyes gleamed and she had a list. We get there and I believe it is Nicole who greeted us. There is a surprising amount of inventory throughout a well-organized and clean market. I personally know very little about what is needed for horse care, but my 11 year old is practically a ranch hand now, and it was a pleasure to watch Nicole and her talk horses and needed equipment for about 15 minutes. She treated her as an adult and gave objective feedback about each item and let her identify and choose the equipment. While picking out a durable item, I could tell it was quality and I was a little hesitant because I've seen the markup on things like these. I flipped the tag and price was very reasonable, probably comparable to online or even less. So we have high quality inventory, knowledgeable and objective support, a person who works well with younger patrons, and very reasonable prices (not to mention an absolutely beautiful location in Portola Valley). Yeah, easy five stars.
