I will preface this review by saying I read reviews avidly and I'm sure if I read my review from an outside perspective I wouldn't believe me. My partner and I had dinner next door at the yard house (10/10 def recommend). I had 1 drink . We came here after and sat at the bar. My partner wasn't drinking because he was driving home. I ordered 1 drink and a water from a male bartender who was super nice. a women bartender came by a few minutes later and asked if I wanted anything else, I ordered another drink. She came by about 5 minutes after I ordered that drink saying she couldn't serve me and I was being cut off. This really surprised me and my partner because I had had only had 2 drinks all night and I was not being obnoxious or in anyway seemingly overly intoxicated. Literally moments after the girl bartender let us know I was cut off, the first male bartender came by asking If i was ready for a 2nd . This confirmed that I wasn't acting drunk at all because A) I wasn't and B) our original bartender was ready to serve us again. I will admit I am a person who struggles sitting still so I do sway in my chair a bit but I was literally having a convo with my partner and looking at social media on my phone. Not certain why the bartender felt the need to cut me off at 7:30 pm after 2 drinks but it really ruined my saturday night. I had a great time with my husband tonight at this Bar Louie for our anniversary! The veggie flatbread and the voodoo pasta were both really delicious. Popped in here for dinner with co-workers on a Tuesday which happens to be half-priced burger day. While the vibe is modern and upbeat, the food and service were sub-par. However, thanks to happy hour appetizer specials (and most of us ordering burgers), our tab was extremely reasonable! There seemed to be confusion among the staff as to who was taking care of our table which became awkward when the two candidates didn't seem to get along. The calamari was rubbery, drink refills sometimes slow, and a few special order instructions missed. All in all: Great values can be found, but keep your expectations low. I left feeling embarrassed we didn't take our out-of-town guests somewhere with better food and service when there are so many great restaurants in Phoenix. read more

Tried to have dinner. Took 20 minutes just to get cold sliders and they delivered my calamari to the wrong table and never did bring me my order. After letting the server know my food was cold he said "ok cool" and walked away. After deciding to just leave once my wife was done with her food since it was obvious I wasn't getting anything I ordered. The server said to me with an attitude "were busy " so because your busy I don't get my dinner????? The good thing about Westgate is there are PLENTY of places to eat and take my business to. I appreciate the management reaching out. This was my second visit in 2 months with the same bad service. The first time we chalked it up to a busy night because we were able to get our order but no re fills or second round of drinks because our server basically disappeared on us but this last visit was the last. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would say the service was a six and I would say it was a 6 only because we had a good waiter. I forget his name but he had the tattoos and a cool haircut. He was so friendly and very welcoming. But the waitress with the blonde hair and the awkward bartender on the afternoon shift are just weird and they make you feel uncomfortable. I definitely would recommend to get the cool waiter with the cool tattoos and cool haircut because he was just friendly very warm and welcoming and he delivered great service ask for the waitress with the blonde hair don't remember her name she was just awkward. Super disappointing. We were really excited to try this place for our anniversary, after hearing great things about their food and drinks. Sadly we left after waiting 15 minutes at our table with multiple servers walking by and no one even acknowledging us or asking for a drink order. Very mediocre food. We came for happy hour which was okay, we got buffalo wings and calamari (weird combo I know). The calamari was greasy and the wings were chicken chunks with buffalo sauce. I don't want to eat under a 50,000 KW spotlight like I'm Gordon Ramsey tasting a French fry in front of a thousand viewers. And the music is also insanely loud. Decided to try this place before the Queen concert. Since it's in Westgate and directly across from the arena where the show was, they had an "event menu" which also coincided with happy hour. This menu was a scaled down version of the full one, which they were displaying outside for passers by to peruse. Seated ourselves, as the hostess said it was open seating. I noticed it was happy hour, which included select appetizers, so I asked our server about which items were included in the happy hour and she said they all were since it was an event menu. We ordered based on what she said and the food was rather good. Two different flavors of traditional wings (buffalo and asian), lettuce wraps, a hummus plate, a cheese quesadilla, and a couple side salads, along with drinks. When our server brought the bill, I looked over it and realized only one food item was marked down for happy hour. I asked our server about it, she went and checked, and returned saying only the quesadilla, boneless wings, and one other thing were included in the happy hour. I was surprised by this and questioned her, but all she said was "I'm sorry". She made no effort to compensate for her complete lack of knowledge of the menu at all. Had we known about the very limited selection, we would have ordered completely differently. I would have liked to speak to a manager, but due to time constraints we just paid the bill and left. The food was good, the atmosphere was solid, but the service left much to be desired, and that's what lead me to give this place 3 stars. Will I return? Possibly, now that I know the hyper limited happy hour menu, but there are many other restaurant options in the same area, so we'll see. read more

Arrived at 12:30 (lunch time) and there was one person serving the entire place..which was empty so that should have been the first red flag. The manager (or what looked to be) saw us walk in and didn't tell us anything about seating ourselves as we clearly looked for some direction. Unfortunately, other than some of the food being ok, the rest of the experience was poor at best. Our waiter never came to the table and when he finally did to take our orders he came back 10 minutes later only to tell us that he'd forgotten our orders and hadn't put anything in yet - not to mention we had two impatient toddlers with us. The food overall was ok, some things were cold but the taste/execution was fine hence the only two stars I'm giving this place. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

I am glad to see Westgate getting more and more dining options. I have been to Bar Louie several times in the last few weeks and I am happy to see the service has improved greatly since my last visit during the summer. It is quickly becoming my go to place to dine at Westgate. The last few times I was there it was incredibly busy. Our server Kellie did an outstanding job keeping up despite having several large tables to manage. She was always popping up at the table like a dedicated stalker haha. I say that in a good way. She can hold her own in a conversation as well. I am a sucker for the loaded tots I almost always open with those. My alternative is the Nachos Libra. For an entree you can't go wrong with baked mac and cheese. Tater tots and Mac and cheese. That is comfort food. I am on a sobriety kick right now so was happy to see several mock tail options. I always feel ackward drinking water when my company is enjoying alcohol. A mock tail is appreciated! One final plus this place serves a full menu to close! read more

Came in for a mid-day bite (2 of us). Not too busy and was able to pick our own table. There had been a menu change recently and although they changed the name of my choice burger, it remained on the menu (Fried Louie is now the All Nighter). Our waiter was pleasant, pretty attentive but we did have to ask for refills on our drinks in between his visits. The wait for food was a tad long for the crowd. Our food came out fresh but it was not cooked as ordered (Medium was Well and Medium rare was Medium). Even my egg was cooked a little long. Still tasted good enough to eat. Tots portion for my plate were plentiful but fries for my companion were in a cup and not quite a handful in portion size. Over all I felt that I could have received the same quality if not a tad bit better from Carl's Jr. The bad of it is, I brought a newbie in, and had talked it up and for our visit to be... meh, I'm only giving BL a 3 star review. Went yesterday before the hockey game and gave two hours before it started.. Sat down right away (should've been a clue) took 15 min to get a drink order in then another 10 min or so to get it. At this time we are ready to order and our waiter walks away and doesn't come back for maybe 20-30 minutes.. Put our order in finally and it takes about 45 minutes or so longer to get. At this time by the time we get our food we only have about 15 minutes to scarf it down. Poor customer service - I get that it was probably got busy but at least the waiter could have done was come talk to us about it every once in awhile. Not sure where to start. It's 56 degrees after a Cardinals game. The inside smells like vomit and the patio has wonderful heaters, but they refuse to turn them on. The service is not great because they are busy (understandable). The food is subpar for a bar. The only reason Bar Louie stays in business is the wait for other places is too long. read more
