Terrible service. I have never been to a place where servers actively look at you and do not care to attend to you. This was to the point I was ready to raise my hand like a child to get service. Not only did our table not receive things we ordered, we were also charged for those things. When we received our bill we waited for at least ten minutes for a server to come grab our check and at that point we just took our loss and left. I am extremely disappointed in the servers and the staff. You should never let a table go without drinks, especially when you are actively making eye contact with the customer, that automatically should tell you they need something. Absolutely embarrassing and I recommend hiring all new staff if that's how they treat customers. I don't know who these girls think they are, but yes we did notice you both clean a booth together when it should be a single person job, after seeing us needing attention. I am absolutely just lost for words at how childish this staff is. We may be young but we all work in the industry and would have absolutely loved to treat a good server, but that was not the case. Great food, but absolutely awful service. After closing our own places of work, we wanted to support other small Lafayette businesses, but we will for now on take our business elsewhere. read more

This restaurant took the place of the old Route 66 diner, and seems to have incorporated many of the old Route 66 menu items into its menu. For example, the Drew Brees (my favorite breakfast, consisting of eggs, grilled biscuits, potatoes and a country-fried steak, is still available, under the name "Country Breakfast"; I'm glad that the grilled biscuits survived the transition). My recollection (I may be wrong) is that Route 66 closed mid-day, but this restaurant is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the nice thing is that, except for a few specials, all menu items are available all the time. So today, for example, we ordered pickup at 10:15 AM. (We are still not comfortable eating indoors in restaurants.) My wife, daughter and SIL all had traditional breakfast items (ham and eggs, country breakfast and breakfast burrito, respectively) and I had a patty melt. All of us thought our food was very good, and the prices were very reasonable. The order was completely accurate. Ordering online was a pleasure. Their online form makes it easy to make custom modifications to your order, and my online request to have the food brought out curbside to our car was smoothly handled. We drove up and didn't even have to call the restaurant; they must have seen our car and a friendly woman brought our stuff out. (The staff here is a pleasure to deal wtih; I had a few telephone interactions with them prior to placing the order and found everybody I spoke to to be friendly and efficient.) The only drawback was that when we got back to the house we discovered the food wasn't all that hot; microwaving eggs can be a dicey undertaking, but my wife reported that her eggs (medium over easy) microwaved nicely. I foresee many return visits here when my wife and I visit our daughter and her family in the future. read more

The Route 66 diner closed down and this new diner replaced it. They've made some much-needed updates to the interior. The prices are similarly low. It doesn't have the exact same menu as Route 66, but I think the owners of this place must have gotten some recipes from the Route 66 owners because the menu still has some of the signature items, including what used to be called the Drew Brees (now called the country steak breakfast), which is country fried steak, eggs, potatoes and griddled biscuits. The biscuits taste a little different, but everything else tastes pretty much exactly the same as it did at Route 66. They also have some appealing options that weren't on the Route 66 menu, including chicken and waffles and a breakfast sandwich on either a biscuit or croissant that comes with your choice of meat, including fried chicken (it's more of a chicken cutlet than Southern fried chicken, but it was still tasty and I appreciate the option for those people like me who don't eat pork). My biggest complaint is that, compared to Route 66, the food takes forever to come out. But that's pretty minor and overall we're happy to have such a tasty, affordable place near our house. I expect we'll come here often. read more

I had the chicken and waffles with a side of hashbrowns and it was sooo delicious. My husband and sister both had burgers and they were really flavorful. The waitress was so sweet and attentive, didn't have to wait long for the food at all. The price also can't be beat. read more

I really like this place and go often. It's basic diner food, not amazing but not bad at all. Fine omelettes. Good mushroom burger. Love the flat fries and the pie!! Except... some weekends. I don't know who's on the grill in the afternoon/evenings, but I've twice ordered a patty melt during those hours and it comes out not-grilled! Like on barely warmed bread! That's NOT a patty melt, people. So, it's hit or miss, but good enough I keep going back. But I avoid weekends later in the day. read more

Came in with pretty high hopes given the reviews but was a little let down. Purdue area has a ton of diners around, so there is a lot of competition for this one to live up to. I walked in on a Sunday around 10:30 knowing that it would be busy from the hungover college students as well as the early church crowd. It was packed to the walls and clearly did not have any form of managing it. People were literally standing inbetween tables, outside, and in each other's space. My buddy and I didn't want to wait, so we sat at the bar just to be constantly bumped and breathed on by people waiting for they're table. What brought the score up was the fact that the service was not too bad given the amount of people. Drinks were filled occasionally and orders were taken at a decent pace. The food was very ok. Nothing about my chorizo hash or my buddies breakfast burrito stood out. They were cheap and they tasted cheap rather than nostalgic like top tier diners. Visited for the first time on a Saturday morning, right before noon. Fun and diverse crowd: groups of singles, families, all age ranges, and skin tones. Wait staff prompt and helpful. Social distancing between the all the tables, hand sanitizer near the entrance. My only concern related to COVID 19 is that a few kitchen staff weren't wearing their masks correctly (masks not covering the nose). The majority of the staff, however, were masked. We felt safe overall. Here's what we experienced: a. We got an omelette, a patty melt, and drinks. Food was hot and fresh and tasty. b. Wait staff seem to be a fairly young crowd, with oversight from a few more experienced people. c. Tables were clean, but slightly sticky, which automatically means the good will be great. d. Fun to crowd watch. There are booths, tables, and a "bar" area with a few people dining solo. e. Pastry case near the register with pies, muffins, etc. Again, perfect for a diner! We didn't try any, but maybe next time. f. Menus are available with QR code, to minimize contact. Paper menus also available. g. Good prices. Our check was under $20, before tip. h. After all my good experiences here, I am sad to say I will not be coming back. Upon getting seated, not only was it uncomfortably hot in the restaurant, we were told that the silverware was being rolled and it would be a couple minutes. No big deal to our group, but it just went down hill from there. We only received half of our drinks, no refills for the entirety of our visit, and rude attitudes from the servers and people who brought out our food. The silverware came to us 5 minutes after our food with a scuff from the girl who brought it to us. And finally we had to go up and get our checks because our waitress never returned. My boyfriend and I visited on a Sunday morning for the second time. We love this place in West Lafayette! It is perfect for Breakfast, lunch or Brunch! If you go you have to try their chicken and waffles!!! The chicken tenders that come on top are definitely freshly made & juicy and you can tell they are NOT frozen. The coating on the chicken is slightly spicy giving a delicious sweet and spicy element to the dish when you add maple syrup! We live close by and we are so happy this dinner popped up! The decor is modern and clean and we have had great service both times! I highly recommend. read more

My family and I decided to give it a try. Server was very prompt and friendly. We all love coffee and when she brought it over she apologized and said that their filtration system was off cycle so there was sediment along the insides of the coffee mugs that made the coffee look rather unappetizing. She did say that we did not have to take it if we didn't want it. We did decide to try it anyway. It was very weak. What I don't understand is why a breakfast place would go cheap on the coffee. One of us got the breakfast special that included French toast but the French toast was 4 strips, maybe in total equaling one slice. The eggs and sausage were good portions. One of us got pancakes and said they were OK, but a bit dry. I got basted eggs and they were perfect. We may give it one more try but that coffee....ugh. Went to West Side Diner for lunch today, waited an hour for our food and finally walked out when the waitress said they lost our ticket but were starting to make it now. Can't beat the price or consistency of this place. I get a santafe wrap several times a week, comes with fries and a huge wrap for just over 8 bucks. monster omelette is also fantastic for practically the same price point. I'll be coming here for years to come! read more
