My whole family enjoys going to Westside Social when we're in town. They're always busy, so reserve a table when possible or expect a wait. There's something on the menu for everyone. The mac and cheese is rich, yummy, and large enough for two (or three). (It doesn't reheat very well though because the butter/oil separates.) Their chicken sandwich is wonderful--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They also make a good burger. Porch Tea, a featured cocktail from September 2023, is delicious! It's made with Wheatly vodka, peach/raspberry puree blend, lemon juice, Xocolatl mole bitters, and topped with hoop tea (a jazzy, fruit forward tea). Yum! They have a decent beer selection for those of you who don't avoid beer like the plague like I do. Their Shirley Temple is a stellar non-alcoholic choice. So far, we've never gone wrong with any of our food or beverage choices, so I can definitely recommend Westside Social. read more

As always, they deliver every single time! We frequent Westside social be it in person or take out however it was my 1st time having the hot honey chicken sandwich which was honestly very tasty! The seasoning of the chicken and choice of toppings paired very well! Got a beer flight which was great and popped next door to Sicilianos to purchase each beer, what a great convenience! Staff is always pleasant and we were able to sit on the patio with our daughter in the back area so we were out of the way and she was able to have some space. read more

This place is always busy. If you show up at 4 thinking you will be early or beat the rush, you didn't. It's always packed. They have a bunch of parking but every time I have come it's so busy. But they have a ton of seating and I always see room at the bar. Their food is pretty decent but nothing that I have had has been amazing. It's good quality and it was satisfying. The prices are good. Just know if you come here, go early or maybe you will get lucky and not have a wait. read more

Well for a place called Westside Social, no one at the bar socialized. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, not too crowded or loud but it was later in the evening but would have expected more patrons here during my visit. I sat at the bar to hopefully engage in a conversation but it wasn't in the cards. It seamed the bar staff was too uptight to engage in simple or challenging conversation. I ordered the Baked Cod and it was a terrible choice, extremely overpriced and overcooked. I am always apprehensive about sending food back or complaining about the food especially if no one asked me "How was your food" . It was a very small portion and it was way overcooked. It said it came with a grapefruit jalapeño glaze but there was nothing on it as you can see in the photo. The asparagus was well charred and tasted great but the dish was about the Cod and this dropped the ball. The Cod was extremely dry and it broke apart as I chewed it. I live on the coast and am very used to how fish is to be prepared and this was not correct. Pair this with the unsocial engagement with the staff and I wish I would have went elsewhere. I drove close to 30 miles out of my way based on other people's experiences and this was a let down for me. I would not recommend going out of the way for this. read more

More of a blue collar family diner feel feel versus other spots we've been to in this town in recent weeks. Our servers were energetic and happy to help but we had to work to get their attention from the regulars and chatting amongst each other. I didn't think I could love anything more than I love my daughter... until I had the herb crusted pork tenderloin. The glaze was swoon worthy. And the smashed potatoes were perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. As I polished off my last bite I told my family... sorry, I live here now! Ash is the BEST waitress. We had Westside Social recommended to us by others, so thought we would give it a shot. Arrived at 5pm on Saturday and it was already crowded. A 30 minute wait actually. We found bar seating, however, so sat there and avoided the wait. The bar staff promptly gave us menus and took drink orders. Great service considering the crowd. We ordered the beer cheese appetizer and decided to split their version of a Cuban Sandwich. The beer cheese appetizer came out shockingly fast for how busy the restaurant was. The app was very good and had both bread and a type of chip to dip. Very good and would recommend, but, that was the only app ordered, so we could not comment on the others. The Cuban could be considered 'inspired by' traditional Cuban sandwiches, but not exact. It was very good, but again, not exactly the same, in case you are an aficionado. We did not order desserts, so cannot comment. Overall very good, with service that was shockingly good, especially considering how crowded it was. I'm trying to get to the NW side of town more often as I haven't really explored many of the restaurants or businesses there. I had the opportunity to meet up with a networking group for lunch recently at Westside Social. The parking lot was large and I found a spot easily. The group was in the back room which was bright and sunny. Our server was fantastic and kept up with our group of 9 very well. I ordered the social Cubano with a side of social fries for an up charge. The social fries are thick cut, flat fries, with garlic butter, fresh dill, and parmesan. They weren't quite as flavorful as I expected, but they were still good. I don't think I'd pay an extra $3.50 for them again, but I'm glad I tried them. The sandwich was a generous portion - I definitely could have split it but happily took home leftovers. It was super greasy and quite messy to eat, but it was very delicious. It's not a super authentic, traditional Cuban, but a tasty take on the classic sandwich. I was happy with my choice and everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their meals too. I actually stopped in again recently for the second time with Nate so we could try some other menu items. It was pretty early, 5:30 on a weekday, but the parking lot was super full already. The place was pretty busy but we were still seated right away. We had the same server that I had on my first visit, so I knew we'd be well taken care of. It was happy hour so we got some discounted items which was great. We ordered the wings (Nashville hot style), southwest Cobb salad, and the Social fries. Everything came out at once and it was all presented really nicely. The wings were super crispy and had a nice dry rub. The 50/50 ratio of drummies to flats was appreciated! We both really loved the salad - it was a big portion and the ingredients were all fresh and tasty. The dressing was very good. We used to LOVE this place. Now it is over crowded, expensive and some staff aren't very friendly- mostly host staff more than servers. Parking is also a pain. Food has been off the last 3 times we went. The ham on the social grilled cheese was a tiny piece and the egg was burnt with oil. The goat cheese soup has a different flavor every time. I literally couldn't eat it last time. Fries are almost always either cold or the end of the batch. Very rarely fresh/hot. Westside has always been A+++ when I come, so much so, that there seems to always be a nonstop waiting list. Parking lot completely full, this place is a haven for westside Grand Rapids when there isn't anything else in the area. The food always tastes fresh and perfectly seasoned. Dishes have a rustic and home feel to it, leading this to be a perfect place to catch up with family or friends. The wait staff is always so polite and we had Alex taking care of us that night. He made sure we had everything we needed and didn't skip a beat in terms of friendliness and advice on what to get. They always have new specials, making each visit memorable and exciting. I highly recommend this spot for any sort of event or occasion, it is a great casual spot. I also fervently recommend reserving your spot on Yelp to avoid a long wait time. read more

We were in the area for a wedding and looked up what was near our hotel and this was one of the choices. Arrived at the restaurant around 6:30-7pm. We knew there would be a wait. It was about a 45 minutes. Not bad for a Friday evening. This place has its own parking lot too. It was full so, that is always a good sign for me. We just waited in our car and they texted us when our table was ready. When inside I was surprised by the size. The building looks small from the outside but once in its wide open with a bar and plenty of seating. It's kinda loud inside but didn't bother us. Very open with an industrial feel to it. From the door staff to our waitress everyone was very courteous and kind. It's a great feel to the place. Started off with a drink called The Granada..Very good! And an appetizer Bacon Mac Egg Rolls. Nice and crispy on the outside with Mac and Cheese and jalapeños on the inside. And the dipping sauce that came with...Was icing on the cake!! Yum!! I decided on a appetizer the Steak Flatbread. Hubby ordered Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. My flatbread was wonderful, it had a sweet and tart kinda of taste to it that went together very well. Loved it. Hubby enjoyed his sandwich too. I came to Grand Rapids to visit family for Labor Day weekend. My cousin brought me here to grab a quick bite before heading over to her friends home to hang out that was near by. She told me that they had a happy hour where you can get $3 well drinks and $2 off select shareables. I said I'm in and besides who doesn't like a decent happy hour? So we decided to sit on the patio and when the waitress too our drink order I went with a greyhound and my cousin went with a vodka & tonic. When the waitress came back with our drinks I was like wow! That is a SMALL drink but for $3 I looked past it. I figure I will go with the $3.50 tall domestic as my next drink. My cousin went with the wings and I decided to go with their bacin mac egg rolls. They were pretty good. Nice crunch to them and the slight heat from the jalapenos was nice touch. They came with a chipotle bbq ranch sauce. I gave the sauce to my cousin for her wings. I'm not really a big chipotle fan.
