I love this Wetzel spot at the AMERICANA (not GALLERIA). I always have them make me a cheese and jalapeño which is usually a 15-20 minute wait. They're heavenly to receive extra hot. The service I received at this place was so bad I had to write my first review. First sign of trouble was when I got to the window and waited for a good 5+ mins before I was even made eye contact with. Employees were too busy chatting and laughing about god knows what to even notice that a huge number of patrons had started lining up behind me. No worries, I thought, I can be patient. I was finally greeted by a young lady who made it a point to pull out her cell phone and check her text messages before taking my order. Lol. I originally ordered a plain pretzel with sweet glaze dip and a cinnamon pretzel. She informed me that they had no sweet glaze, so I traded out the plain pretzel with an almond crunch pretzel. The family member I was with has a cinnamon allergy, so to make sure, I asked the employee if the almond crunch pretzel had any cinnamon in it. She responded saying that it didn't, but laced with a misplaced attitude I didn't even think was possible for such a harmless exchange ??? Anyway, she proceeds to go over my order one more time with me - one almond crunch pretzel and one cinnamon pretzel. I pay about $16 (which in an instant moment of regret, thought might be a little pricey for two pretzels? why didn't I ask for a receipt?) then walk away with our order. We get to the car, and halfway down the garage, we realize they got our order wrong. We were given an original pretzel instead of a cinnamon one. Now - one may think, it's just a pretzel. It's not a big deal, mistakes happen. But given the entire unpleasant interaction, I was at least looking forward to enjoying a little treat for myself. It's obvious that these employees are ENTIRELY careless and would rather be anywhere but there. To be fair, I empathize with service and retail workers, times have been tough and they deserve our patience and understanding. But I would rather sacrifice a little to receive the product and service in relatively acceptable manner, than be treated with the complete apathy I encountered today. Note: I originally posted this review for the wrong location because I didn't realize there were 2 at the mall. This is my review for this outside location. This my second time purchasing from this specific pretzel place. And both times the customer service has been atrocious. I believe the manager is an old Asian man with glasses and he has no respect for his customers. The first time they burned my pretzel and I asked for it to be remade and he said that's how all of them are made. WTF! You are telling me that your pretzel place is burning all the pretzels like it's your signature. I threw it out in front of him and walked off. Didn't even bother for a refund because his response made it clear he didn't care if I liked the food or not. The second time is very recent. Given COVD you would expect businesses to be very careful with their food handling procedures. Unfortunately once I ordered I saw the old Asian man grab the pretzel and dunk it in garlic salt (which I specifically asked to NOT have) with his bare hands. He didn't even bother to put on gloves or wash his hands. Once the cashier gave me my pretzel, the owner clearly didn't care about his customers because he's handing out free food and drinks to his friends. Wait for your customer to leave before you do that! They need to change their management if they want to be able to afford staying in Glendale. read more

Unbelievably rude experience trying to get Wetzel Bits for my nephew. I paid and received pretzels drenched and dripping in oil. In fact my hands were covered in grease from simply holding this bag. I asked the young cashier at the register to kindly see if there was a better one and he was very willing to help up until the Asian manager came up to window and rudely said this is all he has and he's closing so we'd have to leave. My son usually indulges in their pizza pepperoni pretzel with and extra order of cheese and their delicious lemonade. I prefer the lemonade here to another corn dog stand which we all know of because it is not overly loaded with sugar. While the littlest of our family opts for the pigs-in-a-blanket but mostly just eats the pigs. The pretzel on these things can be somewhat harder and little overcooked, but I suspect that is to keep them warm. A personal favorite is the jalapeno pretzel which is hot enough for me not to dive in for big bites and helps me savor everything. If you have small kids the allure of this place is that you can always count on watching someone kneading dough and forming the pretzels right then and there. I typically never write negative reviews because I try to put myself in the other person's place, but this experience took the cake. I have to agree with others who have posted on here regarding the professionalism and general rudeness of the elderly man who appears to be the manager or owner of this location. He was extremely frustrated due to a long line during black Friday (perhaps he should have had more workers scheduled) and snapped at customers. He literally shooed away my two cousins who were standing quietly by the pick-up window (my youngest 7 year old cousin asked once if the order was his) and when I went beside them, I told the man to calm down, that we don't mind waiting, because he acted like we were rushing him, which we weren't. I simply asked approximately how long to wait and that it was no problem for us to do so. What made me angry is when he used his hand to point at us and shoo us away from standing on the side of the pickup window to go away, despite there being other people next to us. I am not a dog, my cousins aren't dogs, and I will not let anyone do that to us or even another person. After my cousins grabbed their bags and even said thank you (because they're polite) I asked them to sit at a table so I could speak with him. He told me my cousin (after he said "your son or whatever he is" ) continuously asked if the order was his (which is not accurate) and he said he was frustrated because of the long line and said I should be patient next time. I am very patient and I was far more refined in my response to him (after he shooed us away like dogs) by telling him he should have had scheduled more workers if he was so frustrated. Either corporate needs to retrain this man immediately or seriously reconsider who they sell their business to in terms of franchisers and how they are being represented. This is not a one time thing where I am another difficult customer writing a review about how rude he was. There are others complaining. I understand it's a stressful time, I understand he was overwhelmed, but you do not take it out on your customers just because you didn't schedule your workers in a timely manner or hire extra staff for the holidays. That is your fault. Be professional. I shudder to think how he treats his employees. Side note: Looks like people have been complaining about this man for about 3 years... Seriously, corporate? No wonder he continues being this way. Nothing is done and he gets away with treating customers like they're not deserving of common decency.
