The people working at Canter's were incredibly rude and kept bouncing me from one counter to the other. Please note: these counters are across from each other and it seemed like the employees had some kind of interpersonal conflict. They were rude to each other, to me. I finally went the host to get help and he brushed me off and said I couldn't pick up here. Fortunately, one woman came out from the back, a server, and she got my order for me. Of course, she was immediately reprimanded for helping me. I would definitely go again to Shappy's if the pickup was anywhere else. Update: Shappy's reached out to me about my above issue within 30 minutes of posting and they took the time to talk and make things right. That's customer service right there! It was actually a collaboration with three Filipino breweries in LA. We really enjoyed the beer here and ended up doing three rounds. Of course we had the Jollibeer, which is a Peach Mango Lager. Their ube-flavored drinks are also really good, so we tried the Ube Macapuno Porter. Their calamansi drinks are amazing too, so we had Lola's Wit, a Belgian Wit with calamansi and coriander. They also have some interesting Japanese beers like Yasuke, a Matcha Black Lager, and Kanpai Krush, a Sushi Rice Lager. I'll definitely be back for more of their great tasting beer. As a bonus, they also have disc golf. One of the employees was really cool and even let us take some discs home.

The staff is next-level friendly, and it rubs off on the customers, most of which are regulars. They host so many events and always keep the menu exciting. The only negative thing I'd say is that the roar of the customers against the hard-surfaced walls and ceiling can really get overwhelming at times, but whatever. Not usually a big deal. My friend was also celebrating his birthday month and was given a free Beer Boot, which was a really fun touch. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for hanging out with friends. There was nothing really authentic about their curry wurst. Despite the sauce was really good, I would never order again. I was cramped between others and as the designated driver, I asked for some ice water. The server, still expecting as all others, a tip of 18% plus, would not want to serve, he asked me to help myself on a water station. That would mean that all others would need to get up twice - for me to get a water. I understand that particularly during the World Cup, they do not need my/ our business. Thankfully, there are many options. I wow to never return.

And I was pleased to get to experience Schreiner's for a good 14 or so years up until now. But my visit yesterday with my son was the soul crushing final visit. Schreiner's has a new staff of younger people, many of whom exhibit an unfortunate lack of hospitality, and for an establishment that serves sandwiches and deli meats, if kindness and gratitude for your loyal guests is not enough for you to manage from your position with such a once great establishment, then you my young friends are without a doubt not cut out to be in the food service industry. I give Schreiner's a few years before they are shut down if this new staff has any say.

I recently returned after a year away (May 2026), and I was shocked. The new employees were incredibly rude. There was no sense of hospitality whatsoever: no smiles, no warmth, and not even basic politeness. The cashier, for example, a young woman in her early twenties, could benefit from serious customer service training. I left with my favorite foods, but also feeling very disappointed and upset. This store has been an institution since 1952, but it won't continue to thrive if this decline in customer service continues.
