Apparently, "toasted" means something different at Wexler Deli. I ordered the lox & bagel on an everything bagel, toasted. I know this because I made sure to not select the "non-toasted" option. What I received was a bagel that was not only NOT toasted, but refrigerator cold. And yes, I know what a toasted bagel tastes like. I also know what a cold bagel tastes like. This was definitely the latter. I ate half anyway, because hunger has a way of lowering your standards. When I went up for a to-go box, I mentioned that my bagel wasn't toasted. The response? The guy pointed to what appeared to be a tiny toasted corner hiding underneath the cream cheese as evidence that it had, in fact, been toasted. Okay...sure. My boyfriend ordered the cheesy egg sandwich on a plain bagel, and guess what? Also cold. Also not toasted. When we pointed this out, we were told that his bagel had not only been toasted--it had been TOASTED TWICE. Twice. Gaslight much?! At that point, I had more questions than answers. Were the bagels frozen? Was "toasting" actually a secret code for defrosting? Was there a toaster involved at all? We may never know. Mistakes happen. Ugh... what a terrible bagel and experience. I needed some food and an everything bagel with pastrami and cheese sounded delicious. Well, somehow they ruined it. First, the guy kinda just pushed the tray towards me causing the bagel to fall apart, so right away, it didn't have that sandwich integrity. He just kinda went "oops" and walked away. I just heard that all the locations of Wexler's have closed except for the tiny Wexler's Food Stand in the Proper Eats Food Hall in the Aria Casino/Hotel. At NONE of the other deli's will you find even a food stand that cures and smokes their own pastrami and lox. And WOW! is the taste worth it. It's modern times here. In this food court you order off your phone. We shared our usual a bagel and lox and a O.G. Pastrami Sandwich. Without a doubt the lox and cream cheese bagel was the best that you can ever get in Vegas. The O.G. Pastrami did differ slightly than the last few I had here but maybe it was even better? Most people and my husband thought it was as good as a pastrami sandwich gets. It did have more bark (outer seasoning) and seemed slightly more cured but it also was more fatty than from previous visits but still with their ten days of cooking was a melt in your mouth sandwich like no other anywhere. (my peeves that are uniquely mine. I'm sensitive so it was too fatty for me but still great. I was able to peel the thick fat off and still enjoy the sandwich. Also they use what tastes like California Rye Bread. My son ate the Big Poppa, he ate the whole thing and said it was good. When we returned home from our trip, he bought the same ingredients and tried to make it for breakfast. Mister and I split the LA Bird, generous with the turkey and a bit too much of the coleslaw which my husband enjoyed. I felt there is too much carrots so the coleslaw was a bit sweet for my liking. Ok. Needed a quick lunch so popped into the food hall at Aria hotel. This deli is in the Proper Eats Food Hall which is upstairs one floor above the casino level. Easiest to take the escalators behind the casino to get there. You order at the kiosk in the food hall or if you go to the deli counter there is a QR code you can scan. ( You can't order with a live person!) The hall was busy but not overly crowded. The food took about 7 min & they send you a text when your food is ready. I did not have large expectations for the Reuben I ordered but much to my surprise it was really, really good. The meat was super tender & flavorful and they provided an ample amount of it. I wish the kiosk ordering allowed you to add items like tomatoes & onions but it was super good without my typical add-ons. Seating is open seating wherever you can find. Make sure you look all the way in the back because they have some nicer seating in the back near the Hall bar. I would come back again. Although this is supposedly "fast food" in a food hall, the price point is Vegas style steep at $21 for just a sandwich & pickle and $4 for a 2oz bag of kettle chips! read more

Within the Aria's Proper Eats Food Hall, is a deli with some wonderfully juicy smoked pastrami, and it happens to be the last remaining outpost of Wexler's Deli. Of course being inside a casino, especially in the new food "hall" trend, the prices are high ($19 for ~8oz of meat) and portions are small, but the pastrami melts in your mouth while hitting you with some nice peppery spice and smoke. I think it's comparable to some of the better Jewish delis in the LA area which makes sense since that's where Wexler's originated. Food gets prepped pretty quickly (pastrami sliced to order) and you'll get a text when your order is ready. You'll have to hunt down a seat within the food hall when it's busy, but you're feee to sit in the bar area as well if the main seating area doesn't suit you. Personally, I really enjoyed the pastrami, i just wish it was more bang for your buck. I'm not expecting a Katz's mile high sandwich, but toss a couple extra slices on there and I'll be a happy guy. At the end of the day, it's hard to find a good pastrami in this town so I'll probably be back soon. read more

Have been Wexlers Deli a couple times during my stays at the Aria, and it's not bad! My biggest complaint is there's to much fat left on the pastrami/brisket (for those that didn't know, it comes from brisket) and I have to take it off. Other than that, it is tender & juicy! Little more seasoning wouldn't hurt, but that doesn't bother me being I use very little seasoning if any as it is. All in all: Easy to order, at the food court up stairs! Was a regular customer from when it first opened in LA at the Grand Central Market (now closed). It was great and consistent during every visit likely since Mr. Wexler trained, supervised or participated in the preparation of the food. Sadly, my visit today at Aria was not great. My last visit to this location was in the winter when I had the corned beef reuben which was terrific and perfectly balanced ingredients. Today, I tried the Boyle Heights (corned beef and mustard on rye) and they were primarily not slices, but chunks of extremely fatty corned beef which were cut against the grain. The flavor and seasoning of the corned beef was great, but it was way too much fat and not cut properly. A little training and effort would have made this a great sandwich. Another family member had the Newman which was half corned beef and half pastrami with mustard on rye. His corned beef looked as it should, properly trimmed slices with the proper grain, but his pastrami was all triangular chunks that looked more like tri-tip than pastrami. Since this is Mr. Wexler's last retail location, I strongly recommend he train his employees in how to properly trim and slice the meats. I know it can be difficult these days to find good staff, but even having a sign or pictures near where the meat is supposed to be sliced would offer guidance on how to do it properly (meat cut against the grain makes it tough to chew and can lead to pulling the entire slice off the sandwich instead of biting off a piece). By way of coincidence, I like Junior's Deli (from NYC) at Resorts World, but the corned beef was also cut wrong on almost every other visit until they added a sign and reminded their staff how to slice it properly. read more

Finally got to try Wexler's Deli which is located inside Proper Eats Food Hall within Aria. I've never been to the DTLA Grand Central Market location but the photos always looked good to me. I ordered the OG ($20) which is their signature pastrami on rye with mustard. It was really good. The pastrami had good flavor & cure. Sliced like true pastrami, NY deli style. Thick cuts. It's just perfect with the deli mustard & the requisite rye bread. Service was friendly & helpful because I was trying to order at the counter not knowing you have to order through the Proper Eats app (via scannable QR code) or the couple of tablets/screens scattered about the food hall. I don't know about you, but the pastrami was cut a little too big. Most deli's will thinly slice the pastrami so that it's more juicy and doesn't crumble when you take a bite.
