Spotted this place last time we watched a movie so today we gave it a go. I got the shrimp and chips I thought coconut shrimp was an option as it was written under neath the sign but that's what I got good thing I don't have an allergy. My mom had the halibut fish and chips, I had the coconut breaded shrimp and chips, and my husband had the fish taco with tortilla chips. The meals were served with generous portions of fresh and delicious fries, and my children were in heaven. Well I've heard good and bad things. But today Bday today with my sis and a movie. Soo we ordered 2 -2 piece cod. It's cold out today so standing out here all bundled up lol. The fish AND chips were very crispy and nothing got soggy! Fixings are around the corner ( ketchup, Jalepeno aloi, tar tar sauce. All were excellent ! Price not bad either 7.99 for two piece. I want to like this place. I must want to like it 'cause I keep going there. The one star is for the chowder which is pretty good but they are always running out of (and which also isn't a "bowl" IMO. See photo to decide for yourself). When this place first opened up years ago it was great. Huge chunks of fish, plentiful fries and the food came out nice and hot. Now the pieces of fish are literally half the size they used to be. I was able to find seating near the water, which was scenic (considering the history of the area - Asarco was an eyesore). They also have tartar, ketchup and jalapeño aioli stand with to go containers on the side of the restaurant to grab which is awesome. A major plus is that you can use the restaurant if you need to go to the bathroom and there's outdoor tables for you to stand and eat your fish and chips. The Daily Catch is a walk up window restaurant in a gentrified open air mall and condo development on a beautiful area of the coast. Everything is fried to order, so you may have to wait a few minutes. We tried the Fish & Chips which were merely okay, but we ordered the Cod and they offer other varieties of fish. My wife wasn't wild about the breading, but I found it to be your average oil delivery system. The Chowder was also adequate, a decent version of the dish if not an amazing one. There are a lot of interesting bars and restaurants at that complex. If you absolutely need a quick service place, your mileage may vary here. read more

I'm tempted to give this 5 stars because the food is really good but how it is run is abominable. We ate here for lunch today on a BEAUTIFUL sunny day in May, so of course, there were tons of people out and about and the line for the Daily Catch was ridiculously long... at least 15 customers. It took a good 30 minutes to make it to the register, standing in the hot sun. I had plenty of time to stand and observe. Despite a LOT of people waiting, there is no sense of urgency. The employees move VERY slowly. While my husband was ordering, I went to the condiment station to get some. There were no little cups. One of the tartar sauce jugs was missing altogether and the other was almost empty. I got the last bit of it with my little cup half full. My son walked to the counter to see if we could get some cups. A lady came out to fill them, and at the same time, the only cashier, who was assisting my husband, walked away and came outside to fill them, too. No communication. Once he was finally able to order, we stood for another 20 minutes waiting for our food. While we waited, a gal came out and tried to start a new jug of tartar sauce but it wouldn't prime so she gave up. She scooped a few cups full and put them on the counter for two of us... the rest of the people were out of luck, I guess. (As an aside, the jugs of condiments are outside in the sun with just a little ice in the bottom of the bin. This made me really nervous because of the tartar sauce and the jalapeño aioli but I took my chances.) So eventually our food came. It was close to an hour all in. The food is served in cute green cardboard produce containers lined with fake newsprint. Very appealing. Despite the annoyance at the wait, the food was really good. The batter is YUM. The cod is nice white meat with no silver scales/fishy parts. I hate fishy fish and this was just nice meat. No fishy flavor at all. My batter was a little undercooked beneath the outer crisp, but I didn't mind. The fries are wonderfully seasoned and they give you a ton. I got the 2 piece cod and chips. I ate 1 1/2 fish and about 1/2 of my fries and I was STUFFED. My daughter had the prawns and chips. No coconut, which suited her fine. I had a bite... the prawns were DELICIOUS! My daughter (age 15) said, "It was worth it," referring to the long wait. Oh! And the tartar sauce (dill) and the jalapeño aioli really are super good and you can serve yourself, as mentioned. Bottom line... the food here is great. You will wait forever to get it, but if you're not in a hurry and are in the mood for fish-n-chips (and who isn't when you walk the waterfront on a beautiful day!) it's worth it. If you own this restaurant, it could be run 100 times better. Your cashier should be friendly and greet people. When everyone standing in line is watching your "kitchen", they should be moving to get the food cooked and out. There was a whole lot of slow moving around, standing and staring into the crowd, etc. It is frustrating to stand in the blazing sun for an hour and feel like the people serving you couldn't care less about how long you have to wait.
