Absolutely fantastic lobster roll, packed with flavor! Bread was well toasted. Service was incredible and very fast. The restaurant is just off the highway and easy to access.

We stopped in because we were in the mood for some fish tacos. There are some parking spots out front. There was a super friendly young guy who worked here, I wish I got his name, but he was sweet and really provided great customer service and cared about ensuring our meal was good. We ordered a ceviche and an order of fish tacos. Both came with some tortilla chips. The ceviche was the best thing we got for sure, really thick pieces of fresh fish, freshly cut onion, some crunchy texture from the peruvian corn. All in all, delicious. The tacos were pretty good too and we enjoyed dipping them in the sauce leftover from the ceviche.

Stopped by this place based on the reviews. And it did not disappoint! Six of us each tried different rolls and devoured them. Only problem was it was extremely hot outside and there's no indoor dining. My suggestion would be to add some fans. The gentleman behind the service counter was friendly and informative. Keep up the good work, Guys.

This was by far the best ceviche I have ever had outside of PERU! Great team and extremely helpful when it comes to making decisions for those second guessing options. I recommend the Shrimp roll, but next time I go I definitely want to try the lobster roll.

Did someone say yummo ?! That food was what the clutch I was so hungry and we went kayaking before this at the place right next to it. The guy with the cowboy hat at the counter was quite friendly and the food was delish. We both got the fresh catch of the day fish rolls and they were awesome. The shrimp roll looked good as well side note. Overall great dining experience, sea breeze was hitting and the tables were nice.

Whenever I travel, I'm always looking to Yelp to find these tucked away hidden gem places. This was a great little spot, nothing fancy for sure but very comfortable setting on a sort of water canal ( so water and boats to look at). Extremely friendly owner turning out some really good food. We had a crab cake roll that was very good... and a Main lobster roll. The roll was right on point, a New England style roll that was perfect. I was reluctant to get Main Lobster while in the Keys, but I had already had Florida Lobster several times on this trip ... so I did it. I'm from FL so I'm just gonna say this .... Main lobster may be better

This restaurant was quaint outside dining right on the marina. The best lobster roll I have ever had $33. Fish tacos were amazing. Highly recommend this place. The owner was very informative. Great service.

You don't want to leave the keys without checking this place out. If you're a first timer; Alex walks you through the menu like a breeze. Tells you what's what and what's the catch of the day. After ordering, Alex walks the dishes over. I had the Market fish entree and my boyfriend had the LobsterRoll, we shared the "Ceviche Del Mar". And we both agreed this was one of the best meals in FL. I'm VERY picky about Ceviche and this was so fresh and delicious. The ceviche alone could've been a meal. The market fish entree was cooked in olive oil and salt; appropriately seasoned for a fresh catch. And my boyfriend was just speechless on his lobster. He was in lobster bliss. These place is like a little shake shack, sitting inside a strip mall/dock area. I definitely recommend coming here before leaving FL.

This was by far the best meal we had in the Florida Keys. Most of the other restaurants we tried were unfortunately underwhelming--the food just didn't live up to the hype on social media or influencer reviews. I'm so glad we found this spot, thanks to its glowing Yelp reviews and convenient location right next to Paddle! Florida Keys, where we did a mangrove eco tour. We ordered the lobster roll, ceviche, and a side of fried calamari: Lobster Roll (M.P. $30 on the day we visited) Served on warm, buttery bread and packed with juicy, flavorful lobster meat. Way better than the ones in Key West, which used small, dry, broken pieces ( and claimed to be one of the top of the world's lobster roll) Ceviche ($17) Made with the fresh catch of the day. Zesty and incredibly fresh. Fried Calamari, Small Side ($8) Crispy, tender, and clearly just made. They also offer a nice selection of craft beers and sparkling drinks, including prosecco. The food came out quickly and everything tasted freshly prepared. We loved sitting on the deck by the ocean, with boats nearby and tarpons swimming right beneath us.

Service was great (he even set expectations on the wait which was not long!) and gave good recommendations. We split a fish sandwich and the ceviche. We're light eaters, so this may not work for everyone! We sat outside on the water, drank a cold beer and enjoyed lunch.

Everything was so delicious. The spice levels were amazing and the service was great. The prices were a bit high compared to the portion sizes but hey, in this economy... The restaurant was clean and the outside seating was chill. Overall, I loved this place!

On our way up from Marathon, we were in the car discussing how unimpressed we were with food down in the Florida Keys, particularly the fish. We were looking for 2 things: freshness & flavor... And "wala" as the owner, Alex, commonly says, that's exactly what we found last minute driving up back home at What The Fish. This place is a true hidden gem as many describe in the reviews. The owner is a masterpiece of a host, he greets you upon entering with a grand introduction of his menu in which he explains so proudly! The view of the small marina behind his shop is perfect, beautiful homes and boats strolling by to look at while you eat. The food = outstanding. We got the Casa Mar rolls and they were incredibly tasteful. Make the stop to visit and support this local small business, you will not be disappointed. We are only sad we didn't find this place sooner, especially with the old prices...

My friends and I stop here on our way to Key West. All of us were disappointed in the lobster roll because it had a green curry sauce on it, the menu description did not mention this, also it was pricy at $24. This place is DELICIOUS and conveniently located next to Paddle the Florida Keys, making it the best ever one stop shop adventure day in the keys. Get your belly full before AND (or) after kayaking with the most delicious Fresh octopus salad, and the curry fish roll. Heaven in your mouth. I would say, maybe even get two of those. The lobster was good, but maybe not as great as the regular fish. Service is friendly. Good craft beers. Great atmosphere in front of the water. A real gem for the Tavernier area. read more

A pleasant lunch spot. This tiny restaurant has lots of outdoor seating, including on the canal, and fresh flavorful fish tacos that you'll crave after leaving the island. The server is friendly. There's cold beer and single serve wine in the fridge if that's what you're seeking. We would have preferred more fish on our fish roll. The flavor hit the mark but a bit more fish would have provided the protein we craved. read more

Happy to see this place get a well deserved 5 star review. The food was the best we had in the keys during our four day visit. It's very easy for destination islands to get away with sub par food in my opinion, but this was not the case here. Very simple (counter service), thoughtful (bamboo forks), delicious, fresh seafood, and reasonable prices. This is the kind of establishment that you can tell someone cares, there is love in the food, and that is always something we notice! read more

Best rolls on earth! Fresh lobster, crab, or fish in a perfectly toasted bun. The bun is what makes the rolls perfect... Unlike most lobster rolls where it's just a thick toast lathered in way too much butter, the buns here are like those Chinese milky buns lightly toasted without little or no butter. Also, the owner is such a great guy! He patiently walked us through all the menu items and told us about the fun things to do in town. We visited this place 2 days in a row because it's that good! read more

So rules . We try to call them literally 10 times around lunch time to place an order but no one pick up the phone. When we got close to the restaurant we call one more time and finally someone pick up but suddenly hang up on us. We try to one 1 more time and they said : no order, call back for 20 mins with the rudest sound ever. We so confused . The restaurant not even look that busy. The customer services is really bad. I can't even explain the overall experience! Not just the food (which is unique, fresh and fun) but the setting and the people working there are so happy and relax that I felt like vacationing on a far away island. The food was absolutely amazing ! I came with my boyfriend and my mom and they both got the grand slam with yellowtail. I got the Casamara roll with grilled mahi mahi. All the sandwiches were amazing! We practically inhaled them. The service was great! You can tell everyone there truly loves their job. It was our first time there and the owner had no problem answering any questions we had or explaining the menu. The environment was great. It was raining but they had a covered deck which was nice to watch the rain and the boats going out for diving. 10000/10 recommend !! It's a small shack but they know what they are doing for sure! read more

If I could give less stars, I would. WAY Overpriced for what you get. Fish tacos were dry, overcooked and barely had any fish. There was a little fish and a little pico - nothing else. Shrimp roll had a few tiny shrimp - upset my wife's stomach. Lobster roll had less than a quarter of a small tail in it and it was $27. I don't know who is rating this highly unless they work here. read more

The service was great, our waiter Alex was fantastic in recommending dishes based on our likes and tastes. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu and how extensive it was, and the prices are more than fair for the area! If you're in the Tavernier/Islamorada area and need a good recommendation for breakfast through dinner, this is your spot! If you stop in, make sure to ask for Alex, she will take care of you! Mistake Do not eat here ! The place is in a run down, almost empty plaza -1st flag It's a small, dirty place - almost no other customers there -2nd flag We order 2 of the crispy tuna and 1 gyoza. Gyoza was ok. The crispy tuna was terrible. I kept one because I felt bad sending both back to the kitchen, but the other one we sent back and ordered a crunchy JB roll instead. Waiting a long time , and when it finally arrived- it was beep fried in thick batter. Like they never heard of tempura? She never came back to check on us. And when the bill came, she didn't provide me with a receipt , just the electronic reader with an amount. I asked if I could see the receipt and she pretended she couldn't understand me. I asked if I was being charged for the returned item and was told no. She stayed staring at me to make sure I put a tip before she walked away. Latter, I checked, and I had been charged for the returned item. They also sat us by a curtained off space in the wall with seemed to lead to a storage space in a lived in apartment. Were they living there? Now I have to fight to get a refund without a receipt. Just don't go there. Terrible in every aspect

So we were expecting fresh, delicious fish from reading the reviews--and we were not disappointed! But I need to mention the best I've ever tasted cole slaw (not even usually a fan), and the hot, crispy, perfectly salted fries!! Wow, we couldn't wait to come back for lunch after our first dinner here. Also, the owners are great- very friendly. They have wine and beer in the fridge where you order, as well as some soft drinks. The restroom is in the next building over. Definitely recommend this place! read more

If you are going down to the keys by boat this is the place to go and get pampered. Their food is extremely fresh and the flavors are delicate. The people servicing the shack are friendly and always looking to improve your stay. I will highly recommend this little treasure in Tavenier. The staff at What The Fish Rolls were very nice, but unfortunately the food did not live up to the same standard. The chips were soggy and lacked any crunch, and the lobster roll was way overpriced for the portion and quality. Friendly service can't make up for food that feels like poor value.
