It was 103 degrees outside and I was thirsty and wanting something sweet like ice cream. I thought about going to Braum's but I had seen the sign for the Root Beer Shake here and decided to stop by to give it a try. Before I gave it three stars I decided to read some of the other reviews and see what other people had to say. I have a feeling my experience was pretty similar to others. I only got the shake. It was okay but nothing spectacular. It didn't have a real strong root beer flavor. The worst thing about it was that it was so Frozen I couldn't sip it through the straw. I was about to suck my cheeks down my throat giving it a try. I tried to blow through the straw to clear it and I couldn't even blow the Frozen drink out of the straw back into the cup it was so stuck in there. Finally I went over to the drink machine and put about half an inch of Root Beer in it. I stirred and stirred and stirred. 20 minutes after I got my drink I think I'd only gotten the level down half an inch or so. I managed to drink a little bit more although by now I was getting brain freeze. I went back over and put some more Root Beer in and stirred and stirred and stirred. In the meantime I observed some of the other customers. There was a definite problem with an internet order. What they had prepared didn't resemble the order that was placed. The attitude behind the counter was definitely that the problem was with the customer. The poor kid picking it up looked like he was just a gofer picking up an order for someone else. A couple other ladies seemed to wait an inordinately long time for their to-go order. When I watched my shake being made it looked like it was going to come out right away. Next thing I knew somebody else was making it so all I can assume is at the first kid didn't do it right or the machine was malfunctioning or something. So my one Root Beer Shake took longer than it should have. I wasn't in a hurry so it was no big deal. A lot of the tables looked like they had been previously used and not wiped down. I don't think I saw a single person wiping down a table the whole time I was in there and I had to have been there at least half an hour. I finally got the drink level down enough that I could top it off a third time with root beer. This time seems like I was able to liquefy it enough that it started to pass through the straw. I hardly ever saw anyone smile behind the counter, act pleasant, thank the customers, Etc. There seemed to be a lot of irritation and stress going on. Not an atmosphere I would be in a hurry to return to. I probably wouldn't get the Root Beer Shake again although it tasted much better after I added enough Root Beer from the drink machine to it. read more

This place was an absolute nightmare. Waited half an hour for food and there wasn't even anyone in the restaurant. The employees were beyond slow. I've never seen a fast food place with zero hustle. We finally asked for a refund and the guy didn't even ask why or anything. Just processed it super fast and said it'll be back on the card in 1-2 days. Tells me they do this alot. I will never eat here again. I ordered 3 sausage egg and cheese taquitos and one bacon (well done) egg and cheese taquito. I also ordered biscuits with sausage gravy. All taquitos were bacon and all the bacon looked like it was cooked for about 5 seconds. Disgusting!!! I received no sausage taquitos at all. The sausage gravy was yellow because of the 1/2 inch layer of grease on top. I will absolutely never eat here again and every review site will get this same explanation has to why. Shut this location down before you kill someone from sickness. Absolutely the worst!!!! Shameful!! The manager is a peach too if you enjoy back talk and pure rudeness!! read more

The worst Whataburger experience I've ever had. After ordering a double meat Whataburger Jr. (no cheese), I sat in the drive through for about 15 minutes. Finally received my meal. This location is the worst in town. And the worst I've been to. Customer service basically non existent. The only one who comes close in the morning drive thru guy. They lose your orders. Take forever to cook your food and if you order curbside. Expect to wait 10 minutes of them to even come out. I've done pick up. And waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged Once they lost my pick up order. And I got asked 10 times if I ordered at the right place. If I did door dash. I had never eaten at a Whataburger before. I'm new to Texas and had never seen a Whataburger until we moved to San Angelo. I was hungry, so I thought I'd try their bacon cheeseburger. It was one of the worst burgers I have ever eaten. I didn't finish it, but took the majority of it home to my dogs. The burger was dry, and had way too much mustard blobbed in the middle. I added ketchup to my burger and it still was dry. The raspberry white chocolate shake had absolutely no flavor, either. The service through the drive through was extremely slow. I don't recommend this Whataburger on Knickerbocker in San Angelo at all. It appeared to be busy, but I have no idea why unless those people like dry, mustard burgers. read more

I've tried this Whataburger twice now while passing through town. First time burger and fries tasted like they had been sitting around a while under the heat lamps. Thought they must have just been having a bad day. Tried again tonight and got a room temperature burger - not even warm - and fries that could chip a tooth they were so cold and overcooked. Went drive through so didn't think to check if the food was hot - or at least warm. Shame on me, I guess. I hate to say it because I normally love WB, but do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! All 3 of our orders were messed up in some form or fashion- my daughters kids meal burger had no cheese despite us specifically requesting it, my husbands sandwich didn't have the jalapeños or cheese he added, and my sandwich that I subbed mayo for literally had the absolute thinnest layer of mayo possible- barely even visible and certainly couldn't taste it. This location is so ghetto in so many ways. From the way the employees couldn't care less about their customers to the filth everywhere in the restaurant. They failed to put bacon on my wife's "Bacon Burger". When she brought it to their attention they smirked and just threw some bacon on her partially eaten Burger. My food was stone cold!!! Did they offer to properly fix either problem? Nope!!!! On top of that I can't believe the Health Department hasn't done something about the filthy floors and tables. I eat at this Whataburger about once a week because I like the sandwich. The Whataburger with jalapenos (#4) is my favorite. However, I would advise against ordering their fries, especially if going thru the drive thru. In my opinion, they are the worst of any fast-food chain. They are almost always stale and hard. Today, I thought since there was a line at the drive-thru, the fries would be fresh. Wrong! Instead, you might want to order onion rings. At least they are usually fresh. read more

There was a time when I never passed up a Whataburger, they were always hot and fresh along with the fries. I have been to plenty franchises lately and everyone has been bad including this one. The burger and fries were warm. The biggest warning sign was no burgers on the grill cooking when I walked in.
