Just stopped by around 4am this morning and ordered sausage gravy and biscuits and was told to pull around the building where another car had been waiting. Wow, Whataburger! I am impressed. While in Texas, this place is a must try. I ordered the original Whataburger. It was huge. As they say, everything is bigger in Texas. I added grilled jalapeños and had my onions grilled as well. Everything on the burger tasted fresh. It was so good. The french fries were deliciously crispy. My only minor complaint is that the sweet tea and unsweetened tea were at room temperature instead of stored cold. But I added ice and it was fine. I also ordered the seasonal Dr Pepper blackberry shake, and I am so glad I did not miss out. Tremendous flavor. Everyone needs to try this shake flavor. I had tried Whataburger at the airport one time and was not impressed. So I'm glad I made the trip into an actual restaurant. They have a drive-through as well. I chose to eat inside and it was very clean. The staff were so sweet. Everyone was working hard and never quit moving during the whole 45 minutes I was inside. This was an A+ experience. First timer here. Went thru drive thru for a late night dinner after a concert. I've seen many Whataburger locations while in Dallas so I had to try it before heading back home. Service what good and fairly quick. Staff who took the order were pretty soft spoken. Burger itself was okay. Patty was a bit dried. Fries weren't bad. Wished it came out bit hotter and crunchier. Let me just say this--I have to remember that this is a local fast food chain and that I shouldn't be expecting the BEST BURGER OF MY LIFE, but I've heard a lot about the dang place and it was just okay. I visited twice to be sure that I covered all my bases so here we go: Whataburger: pretty average fast food burger with an abnormally large (wide?) and flat patty. Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit: the biscuit was a fast food biscuit, but the gravy or sauce or whatever was banging. Taquito-- okay I didn't even take a picture of this one because it was bleh. I was thinking Mexican style egg wrap with some pizzazz but it was bland. Maybe some fancy or spicy ketchup would helped. I sat at the speaker of this drive thru for more than five minutes. My fault for sitting and expecting things to get better somehow. I watched a quarter of a 21 minute interview on YouTube. The ordering process was a hassle! My friend landed at DAL and got to our hotel around 11pm. So we just decided to go to a local chain to grab food and ear at the hotel. We pull up to the drive-thru and the lady can't understand half of what our shuttle driver was saying, then when we would try to correct the order she would get even more confused (I'm assuming the mic is very old); she mistook "With cheese" as "Unsweet" for the iced tea. As luck would have it she managed to put no onions on my "double burger" which turned out to be a single, and gave my friend a double with cheese in place of a single. This is the worst Whataburger I've ever been to in my entire life! This past Sunday ( June 13th at 2:30 pm)... The cashier reviews the order and we pay for our food then we ended up waiting 15 minutes before someone comes back to the window. The next person comes to the window and asks if we've paid for our food and ask if we had order something totally different from what we ordered. We tell her the order, she say okay then closes the window and walks off. A guy then comes to the window and says "I just got back from my break, I'm going to start on those spicy nuggets." We ordered a chicken sandwich and a whataburger. I didn't even know whataburger sold spicy nuggets lol... Anyway, he closes the window and walks off then the second girl comes back to the window and we ask what's taking so long and she says " we're waiting for the chicken to warm up." At this point I'm over it and I ask for a refund. The girl closes the window in my face and walks off... My boyfriend got out of the car and walked inside of the restaurant and ask for a refund. While he's inside an adult finally comes to the window and she says "hey what's going on?" I tell her what all is going on and she giggles and says "oh they're just joking around with you." One thing about me is, I don't like to people to joke around my food. If you're playing at the window I can only imagine what you're doing behind the window and walls. As much time as I've spent in Texas the last decade we've eaten plenty of Whataburger - always in the middle of the night as with this visit was at 10 p.m.. It's your typical fast food chain with below average quality food, yet affordable prices. Personally, I think Whataburger is much better than McDonalds, Burger King, Crystal, Rally's, Steak N Shake, Wendy's, etc. In fact, there's no comparison. Meanwhile, I do my best to avoid these fast food chains except late at night when most other places are closed. We rolled through the drive through and got exactly what we expected with no complaints. If you are looking for a late night burger this is one of your better options. It took fewer than five minutes to get our food. It came the way we ordered it and tasted like all Whataburger meals taste - like a fast food burger. Ironically, they were out of ketchup. When you scan the menu, here's a few do's and don'ts: *Order a Whataburger *Avoid the chicken tenders. They are terrible compared to Zaxby's & Bojangles. Visiting Dallas, we were told to try Whataburger. So off we go! I had the double meat whataburger meal. The burger was huge!!! Tasty, juicy and yummy! First off, I am driving in the Parking lot and there is no sign letting people know they cannot get out of the drive thru once they enter. Very annoying. Walk in, some tables are dirty. They have no sweet tea. Only 3 other customers in the store. My fries sat underneath the heat lamp. Chicken was fresh. The cashier made no effort to clean the tables or refill the tea urn.
