At this point, I think I'm addicted to tacos. I'm on a mission to find good taco spots in every area I go to. So that's what brings me to El Tacaso at 1:00am on various days lol. It's located inside a Mobil gas station like most authentic taco places but seems to be in quite a sketchy area. There are a lot of homeless people surrounding the gas station but they have never attempted to approach me. My 1st visit, I parked at a pump & placed a to-go order because I really didn't feel like standing at the window. You can order on the inside or outside window but lately I have been going inside. I always order the same 4 tacos -- 2 Barbocoa & 2 Carnitas, which comes to $6. No matter how hard I try, I can never eat them all in one setting maybe 2 if I'm lucky. I am taking 1 star for the bathrooms, which is probably more of the gas station workers issue but either way customers need a CLEAN & WORKING bathroom by all means. Imagine tip toeing in the bathroom, scrambling for tissue then also realizing the toilet doesn't flush smh. Side note: when I called in to order the person was speaking in Spanish so I was a bit concerned but ultimately I asked the right questions & we got the order completed, so just be mindful if you place a to-go order. A lot of people I know call this place friendlys and I find my self here often after a night out or just even during the day. It's super nice that its 24 hours and the tacos never disappoint. My favorite has to be the Barbacoa and I always get flour tortilla. I love how they dont charge extra for that like some places do. Super cheap and made fresh. The tortillas are even cooked to be a bit crispy and warm and its soo good. I also love their Barbacoa quesadilla. These are the best tacos that I have had in DFW! They're also reasonably priced, at $1.50 per taco and $6.00 per quesadilla and burrito. I always recommend getting a quesadilla! The cheese they use is tasty; I believe it's mozzarella. I normally do a fajita quesadilla and get pastor and barbocoa tacos. Their meats are full of flavor. I have yet to have better pastor tacos. The salsas are also packed with flavor and are awesomely spicy. All items come with green and red salsa, cilantro, and raw white onion on the side. You can request to add grilled onions. Additional toppings such as jalapeños and cheese cost $.25 each. Some other pros is that they are open till late (4AM on Fri & Sat). They cook up the orders quick. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Don't forget to bring cash for the elite stand outside! read more

This was one of my first experiences with street tacos and, after a lot of hyping from friends, I decided to come give it a try with one of my friends who's a huge fan of the place. And I gotta say...it definitely did NOT disappoint. In terms of service, it's just right. No small talk (there's no time anyway, the line's are long) so service is really fast. In terms of food, what can I say. The meat, no matter what taco, was always moist and full of flavor. It comes with a healthy serving of onion, cilantro, and lime and hots sauces on the side - the violins, violas, cellos, and basses of a magnificent, salivary symphony. Of the symphony of street tacos, Friendly's would be the Finale - full of recap motifs of the original theme, the original Mexican street taco, but sprinkled with surprises and modulations. Just some miscellaneous information and tips. Come with napkins in your car - there's no seating so you're going to have to eat in your car. There is another really popular street taco location in Dallas, Fuel City, but I definitely think that Friendly's far surpasses Fuel City. It's in a bit of a tough location, so drive safe! read more

This is my all-time favorite taco joint. A friend showed me this place 5 years ago and I have not found another gas station taco shop nearly as good as Friendly's. The name brings music to my ears and gets me so hungry and excited every time. It took humility for me to be writing a review for this place, because if I can be honest, I wish I could keep this place a secret for myself and close family and friends. But, it is just SO good, I wouldn't want you to miss out on it :- ) Their al pastor and barbacoa tacos are SO bomb. I usually order these in 2-2 or 2-3 ratios. The tacos come with the standard fresh cilantro, diced onions and a side of lime and red+green sauces. FYI, you can ask for some grilled onions on the side as well - I always ask, because it definitely adds a level to your tacos. Not just tacos though... Around the corner is Rico's elotes stand. You gotta get some elotes with your tacos because the corn definitely completes your meal. And who would turn down elotes??? They make it how you like it, and don't forget to add some hot sauce and lime juice. I could eat here every week if gas wasn't so expensive. I've been eyeing their quesadillas, so I'm definitely ready to try that next time. But anyhow, Friendly's is the best. Honestly. Better than Fuel City in my opinion! read more

Our large order of tacos were made pretty fast, we had time to grab some elotes from Elotes Fanny and back to pick up our tacos. Everything was well packaged with plenty of limes, salsas, onions, cilantro, and grilled jalapenos! There were so many tacos, I felt like I was at a taco heaven! I loved all of the tacos, but the pastor tacos were my absolute favorite. Add a squeeze of lime, cilantro, onion and a generous pour of salsa verde, makes me a happy man. I had my fair experiences with grilled jalapenos from taco trucks back at home, but I decided to take my chances again with theirs. It was delicious, but DAMN were they hot! These tacos are the best ghetto tacos in Dallas. When I'm craving tacos, I want these street tacos not those fancy tacos that everyone else loves. Usually the girls and I come here after going out so we're usually here at 2-3 AM and there is no parking whatsoever. They have a lot of cops now due to the area (it is Harryhines) who helps guide people where to park or keep the drunkees in check. When you do make your way to the front of the taco line, my favorite is steak with everything on it. Barbacoa is good too but too greasy for me. Recently they added lengua but were sold out when we got there. As for chicken, it's too dry for me and I love chicken but not here. The tacos are super cheap at $1.25 although they were $1.00 before and I love the grilled onions they used to give and the large containers of sauce but its all good, I still love Friendly's. The corn stand in front of the gas station is great as well. Get everything and put some muy picosa sauce and you're good to go! My friend and I stopped here after a concert to grab a quick late night snack and this was probably the best decision we've made all week. We ordered carnitas and carne asada tacos and good lord they were amazing! I put both the salsa verde and salsa rojo on my tacos and they were the perfect combination of tang and spice. Our food came out quick and was hot and fresh. One thing that I really appreciated was the fact that they doubled the corn tortillas, but they were still fresh and didn't feel like they were going to fall apart. I've been visiting El Tacaso long before Covid hit when they were in the closet at the gas station location. The new location cranks out the same great food, and I'm really glad they are up and running. It's my "go to" for taking tacos to my accounts, and there was only crumbs left when I made it back to the kitchen to grab something. The new location offers 3 whole bar stools for seating, which is 3 more and better than the concrete at the old spot. Great tacos, good prices, and the hot sauce is really good to boot. It was a wild goose chase finding this place due to the yelp location on the map being wrong. Save yourself some time and put the address in your google maps. After finally getting there at 3am, I was disappointed they didn't have and tongue (lengua) taco. I later see the menu someone put on yelp was 8yrs old . I order 3 carne asada on corn and 3 barbacoa on flour. I never get flour, but this time they were surprisingly better than my corn. The corn ones were grilled to long causing them to be hard to the point of almost being crunchy. The carne asada wasn't worth raving about either. But the barbacoa on flour was excellent. I was planning on going back the next day just for those lol. My tacos came with grilled onions and a grilled jalapeño too. Beware the green and red sauce is on the spicier side especially me eating it with the jalapeño! The lady's were nice. I would return. read more
