Waiting in lane B in the drive thru

Only in the drive-through at this location today they had a person out by the menu sign taking orders and payment by credit card. He told me to pull through to Ling be on the right and I didn't have to wait in the long line of five cars. Alexis brought out my meal to my car, and was very courteous! Some of the BEST fries & I alternate between their spicy ketchup and regular ketchup. Both are devine!

A lot of Whataburgers have gone downhill in the past few years, but this one seems to have retained it's commitment to service and quality. I stopped by on "National Whataburger Day". Yeah, it was crowded, there was a line, and we were waiting, but of course that's going to happen when they're running a special. I was promptly greeted, they verified the name on the order, and they had it out to me in a reasonable amount of time-- faster, in fact, than other locations that were completely empty when I've come by. The burger was decent quality, customized to order (love that creamy pepper sauce) and the fries were fresh cooked. It reminded me of why I used to love coming to Whataburger regularly before some locations completely fell apart in recent years.

On Sunday, we drove through here. They now have employees taking orders outside. The employee said they are trying to do The Chick Fil a thing. We ordered and had to drive up. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. Someone brought our drinks and after awhile, what we thought was our food. It was under the name of John which is the name we used. Unfortunately, it was another John's order. Nothing we ordered at all. I called the restaurant and spoke to Claudia. She was helpful and said she couldn't find our receipt. Thankfully, we put it on our credit card. She suggested coming back on Tuesday after 5 when she'd be there. I did just that and she wasn't there so spoke to the general manager. Rude. No greeting, no smile, nothing. I explained to her the whole story and showed her the bank charge. She said they could cook us the food. I declined that offer and told her I just wanted a refund. I told her she could put it back on our card if she wanted. She said she would have corporate do that. I told her no, that I had worked all day, went home, and drove back there as Claudia told me to get a refund. I told her what we ordered and the total came out a bit less than what they charged me. I showed her the bank charge again. She reluctantly agreed to give me my full refund. So, they must have overcharged me originally, brought us the wrong food, and made me come back for the refund which she did not want to do. I told her had I been offered by Claudia when I called on Sunday to have my card refunded, I would have taken that option. I do not mind when mistakes are made, that is life. I do mind how it is handled afterwards. Whataburger needs to take a page from chick fil a and their superior customer service. We will never go back to this location. Poor management.

Not to be confused with Whopperburger, which is basically Burger King. Or Wannaburger? which is the question that usually precedes a trip here for Barbi and I. This is the Whataburger right next to our house, and on several occasions they've done a great job with the food and it's been hot and delicious, and that's why I give them a good rating. However, I can't go above three stars because of the way they treat their employees in the morning shift on weekends - it's disgusting. The boss who is an older female is heavily abusive to all those below her, and since she's white and 95% of them aren't, it actually looks really bad on multiple levels. But even if everyone there was of the same ethnic background, it'd be very ugly to watch. It'd still get 3 stars for the high quality of food we've received here, despite that which I just described, but it goes down to 2 because sometimes the drive thru is very unreliable, for example when it looks like they're open, all lights on, and so on, and you'll sit at the drive thru for 10 minutes and nobody will answer.

I just got home and I'm so upset that none of the things that I specifically ordered for my modified sandwich is not on here. I was charged extra for avocado (which is expected) however you'll see that in my photo, that there is no avocado. I asked for NO mayonnaise or Whatasauce and to add mustard INSTEAD. As you can see in the photo, they didn't add that either. Lastly, I asked for pickles to be added, and there was no pickles. I work in the food industry too, I get mistakes happen. This is still very upsetting since I did not get at all what I asked and paid EXTRA for.

We heard about Whataburger when we travel to Houston so we found one close by to try. We got the jalapeno & cheese whataburger, regular whataburger, avocado bacon burger, and fries. They were all pretty mid, as the young kids would say. Not uneatable but comparable to Mcdonalds quality in terms of presentation and taste. I thought it would be more in the league of shake shack or even in-n-out burger but no. Needless to say, the coworkers that recommended this place got an earful afterwards. Overall, this is not too special. Just an alternative to Mcdonalds.

The girls both got Meditteranean protein plates, white basmati rice, roasted pieces of chicken thigh, mozzarella-tomato salad, warm chickpeas, roasted broccolini, hummus, tzatziki spicy harissa, yum. Our granddaughter got her own plate, a bento box wit' grilled brussel sprouts, grilled cauliflower, brown rice and grilled chicken which she kept trying to feed to grandma. Leaf & Grain is the spot to satisfy those cravings. This West University location is easy to find and it located on a corner of a large shopping strip. Parking is plentiful. Inside is spacious and is warm and inviting with lots of seating. Counter service is how they run business and they do it well with a great customer service. As I'm sure you've guessed from their name, they specialize in salads and grain bowls. The menu is not big by any means. A little more variety would be great. Both the salad and grain bowl categories have about 3 or 4 options each. They also have 3 plate options as well with chicken or seafood. If you're in the mood for a sandwich they have a few of those options as well. My eyes locked in on one of their seasonal warm bowls. In the summer months, they have cooler, cold options. My eyes locked in on the Massaman Curry. I'm a sucker for Thai flavors and this bowl was calling out to me. It came with a bed of brown rice, topped with chicken, peppers, onions, cilantro, spinach and topped with a curry sauce. They also gave a chili powder on the side if I wanted to make it spicy along with some peanuts. Yes please! The bowl was presented nicely. I mixed it all together and added a dash of the Thai chili powder. This dish was delicious. Not trying to be funny, but I wasn't expecting that much flavor coming out of a dish from a grain and salad spot. The ingredients were fresh and the curry was so flavorful. I tasted hints of coconut that made it slightly sweet, but it packed some heat to it as well. I loved the contrast in textures as well. I washed it down with a Mango Deck (mango, strawberries, banana, agave and coconut milk) smoothie which was a perfect, refreshing sip to go along with the spicy meal. Overall, I liked this place alot. Sometimes it's nice to have a meal without having a guilty conscience afterwards. I will definitely come back if in the area.

Honestly, this feels like a place that will probably make its way into our monthly rotation. My only small critique is that it's a little on the pricey side. We are from out of town for work and have driven by Bubbas everyday for the past 19 days. We had never seen more than 2-3 cars there and rarely saw anyone seated in the patio area. The employees were just talking in the kitchen. They all saw us at the register 5' away. We ordered and were told they had no beef patties. Only Bison available. We ordered a Hotdog, 1 Bison Burger, 2 Bison Patty Melts, 2 onion rings, 2 cups of the "Famous Chili" and chili cheese fries. When the order was ready, we received 2 patty melts, hotdog, 1 onion ring and a chili cheese fry. We were missing 2 cups of chili, 1 onion ring, and Bison Burger. They employee was confused and couldnt figure out what was missing. We did finally receive 2 cups of "famous chili" but no bison burger and onion ring. We just ate what we had and figured the rest was a loss. Ok so this "famous chili" was NOT good at all! It was 100% spice/heat with NO flavor! It had no seasoning except spice! The chili cheese fries were ruined by the chili. The Bison Patty Melts were good. The Hotdog was good also, but after all its a hotdog. I am surprised Bubbas is rated this high. Maybe tonight was a bad night, but I will never know since I wont be back and do not recommend this place.
