    Deluxe skeeter chicken sandwich
    Susan H.

Really miss this place in Katy. Food is always good here. I ordered the deluxe chicken skeeter with fries and side of honey mustard. The chicken was flavorful and tender and the honey mustard was delicious. They need to bottle it up & sell it. The margarita was good too. The only issue we had is that it was 4 of us meeting for dinner. Two of us got there early and when we ordered, we asked the young lady at the counter if they could please hold off putting in the order until the rest of our party got there so we could all eat together and she said that was fine. That didn't happen. I understand that there's a system in place and we would have held off putting our order in if told differently. Other than that, it was all good.

    Fantastic Hamburger togo !!!

I hadn't been to this restaurant since I had my end of the season baseball team awards dinner way back in the 5th grade. We used to come here as a team at the end for trophies, awards n such from 1st to 5th grades, then did Fuddrucker's on Buffalo Speedway for my middle school baseball dinner awards. So it had been a long time for sure and brought back memories. I ordered a Hamburger togo with just a few slices of tomato and some pickles. I tend to often prefer a good burger to be simple to really taste it. It was very delicious, good quality for sure, real beef and juicy in every bite from the meat-buns-toppings added. The meat was beefy n hearty in taste with some good grill flavor to it. It was crumbly as you ate it, which is a good sign of real beef not needed to be cooked too much either. I do think a little more seasoning would've made it excellent, but it was enough all in all to be a solid A. I would get it again for sure. The buns were very soft and fresh not outweighing the meat ratio. The tomatoes n pickles were cool, refreshing, firm and juicy to the right degree. One of the best cafe burgers in n around Houston imo. There are some places that dropped off over the decade and hard like Miller's, Cliff's, Southwell's possibly, but oh well. Great, friendly service here as well.

So good I stopped by twice in the same week! The tacos here are *chefs kiss* brilliant! The service is quick and my whole party was pleased! Everything was clean even for how busy it was. I'm not from Texas but when I visit again, I know exactly where to start eating!

A neighborhood spot for American and grilled Tex-Mex inspired eats. Order at the counter and then seat yourself; they will bring your food out to you. Food is cooked to order, so the grilled items come out fresh which is nice. I had their grilled chicken sandwich and it was simply executed with no frills, just how I wanted it. Their sweet potato fries were a hit as well. Lots of TVs showing a variety of sports, so would be a good family place to catch a game. Parking - large shared lot.

Wanted to try something different since I've lived out her for a year, so went to try Skeeters! They have tons of food options on the menu, even the pickiest of eaters could find something they like! I went with my boyfriend and sister, and we all got completely different things! I went for a safe bet and got the chicken tenders. They were actually really good! I've decided that this restaurant is a must for to go orders whenever I'm feeling lazy to drive far!

    Blueberry Stack pancakes.

My wife and I attended a birthday celebration lunch at Skeeter's. She ordered blueberry pancakes. I went with a traditional cheeseburger with onion rings. Foods came out fast. The pancake stacks were huge and full of blueberries. My wife said it was puffy and tasty. My cheeseburger was on the smaller side with fresh ingredients. The beef pattie needed some salt. Onion rings were ok. The counter service was friendly. Busboy removed empty plates, baskets, and utensils promptly. Overall, it was a nice meal in a nice casual atmosphere.

Food comes out fresh, right off the grill. Family friendly atmosphere. And staff are always polite.

This review is for the breakfast buffet specifically. Despite what the website says, Skeeter's serves it from 8 AM (not 9) until Noon on Sundays, which I confirmed via a phone call to the restaurant. Me and a friend arrived a little past 10AM, and everything that was out was still hot and fresh! The buffet was placed a little awkwardly; one end is near the kitchen window where servers collect 'menu orders', so I was often dodging people on my way up to get food. This isn't helped by the fact that it's very dark inside the restaurant, and the dining room also becomes pretty cramped with the buffet in action. When it gets busy - and it will - you'll find yourself constantly looking for the least awkward way to squeeze past other tables. But at least the buffet includes a build-your-own omelette station; toppings include ham, bell peppers, mushrooms and cheese, plus more I probably can't remember. The guy running this station seems to have his own tip jar, so feel free to bring a couple of small bills up there while you wait for your order to be made, fresh in front of you. It only takes a minute, but as it is just one guy with a single burner, expect to see a line. The rest of the buffet is also well-stocked; meat options include some bacon (pretty fatty, didn't like this too much) and some pretty decent sliced smoked sausage. After this was a basket of their house-made tortillas, a metal server with two kinds of scrambled eggs (the 'special' eggs just seemed to have chopped tomato added?), and some chopped potatoes and grits. The grits were pretty bland - and the potatoes didn't look too appetizing, but were cooked with garlic and herbs and tasted better than they looked. Other carb options included tamales with refried beans on the side, pancakes and biscuits, with syrup and white gravy both being kept warm. And last of all was fresh fruit; the star of the show for me, with one of the best selections I've seen on a buffet! Three kinds of melon, pineapple, blueberries and strawberries. Drinks aren't included with the buffet, but there's a good variety of options. Regular or pecan hot coffee, three kinds of iced tea (sweet, unsweet, and unsweet blackcurrant), a soda fountain, and iced water is offered with added cucumber or lime, mint leaves and lemon wedges on the side. The only downside is there's an entirely separate dispenser for ice - and since we were provided with clear cups, it didn't work unless we waved our hands in front of the sensor. It was kind of hard to get used to and didn't work very well, either taking a few attempts to dispense anything at all or shooting out way too much. Overall, it was pretty good. A little over $15 (as of March 2023) gets you all-you-can-eat, and soft drinks are priced reasonably. It's not the most efficient setup - but if you're willing to deal with a few minor annoyances, arrive hungry, and it'll keep you going all the way until dinner!

Ordered a baked potato with beef to go on Saturday at 6 pm. Potato was dark brown and crusty/dry. Preparer had to see all of this when cutting the potato to add condiments. Took it back to the restaurant, gave to the manager and asked for a fresh item. Manager requested another potato to go. No customer service professionalism from the manager at all. Never said sorry about that or anything of the sort. After another potato was prepared - manager said "here ya go". Acted just like he had done me a big favor. In addition to not offering an apology (or excuse for the poor quality item during a none-busy hour), the manager never even said thank you or come back. I thought I would give them a second try to a prior poor experience when they served me a taco salad with the lettuce so wet that the bottom of the taco shell stuck to the cardboard box holding it and had to be returned. Much of the same service from the manager that time as well. Oh well I'll avoid and save myself trouble . . .

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. When I think of tacos and burritos, this place is what comes to mind!

Allow me to be Review No. 1,100 following my visit to this wonderful culinary gem yesterday…read more By default, Spring Branch is Houston's Koreatown, but it's not unusual to find establishments with Spanish-language branding on them throughout the neighborhood. And Tacos Doña Lena, on which I'll heap tons of praise on, is among them. A group of friends and I had supper here before a live show down the street at Eighteen Ten Ojeman. Upon seeing the storefront when we pulled into the parking lot, my first thought was, "Okay, this is legit Mexican, not Tex-Mex." The interior is quite small with some tables and an ample late Saturday afternoon crowd. What caught my eye is how the environment is what you might expect to find at a family-run taqueria off the beaten path. Rock en Español blaring from the sound system. Colorful papel picado draped from the ceiling. A framed Mexican flag and several references to the central Mexican municipality of Guanajuato. The intoxicating smell of spice-laced grilled beef wafting through the air. Simply put, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I glanced at the menu. There are numerous, delicious-sounding items that happen to be wallet-friendly, a bit cheaper than if you were to go to Gringos or Jimmy Changas. According to a mutual, the tacos here are the main draw, but what really caught my attention and appetite was the ramen birria. Mujeres y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), let me proclaim that Tacos Doña Lena turns a noodle dish with origins in Japan and is a known staple in college dorm rooms into a must-try on this part of America's fourth-largest city. Two amazing food cultures unite for a fiery meeting of the minds. Anchored by a rich, tasty consomé that's spicy but not enough to where you need to drink multiple glasses of water, there's a prime mix of ramen noodle, beef birria, cheese, fried egg, rabanos, garbazo, and corn accompanied by cilantro, onions, and a pair of fried tostadas. I was so impressed with how the contents of the ramen blended together. Since it was ramen after all despite the south of the border touchup, I still ate it the traditional way: pick up the noodles and sip the soup. There was so much that I had no choice but to put it in a takeout container. Sure, Spring Branch may be home to some great traditional Korean restaurants, but don't sleep on Tacos Doña Lena.

They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!
