I was really craving chicken tenders so I came here for lunch with my cousin after a zoo visit. My go to's here are the burgers and tenders. Tenders are seasoned well, crispy, and juicy. The basket comes with fries, country gravy, and Texas toast (can get 3 or 5 tenders). Great food, good vibes, and affordable prices (3 tender basket under $10). The chicken was flavorful and tender and the honey mustard was delicious. They need to bottle it up & sell it. The margarita was good too. The only issue we had is that it was 4 of us meeting for dinner. Two of us got there early and when we ordered, we asked the young lady at the counter if they could please hold off putting in the order until the rest of our party got there so we could all eat together and she said that was fine. I tend to often prefer a good burger to be simple to really taste it. It was very delicious, good quality for sure, real beef and juicy in every bite from the meat-buns-toppings added. The meat was beefy n hearty in taste with some good grill flavor to it. It was crumbly as you ate it, which is a good sign of real beef not needed to be cooked too much either. I do think a little more seasoning would've made it excellent, but it was enough all in all to be a solid A. I would get it again for sure. The buns were very soft and fresh not outweighing the meat ratio. The tomatoes n pickles were cool, refreshing, firm and juicy to the right degree. One of the best cafe burgers in n around Houston imo. There are some places that dropped off over the decade and hard like Miller's, Cliff's, Southwell's possibly, but oh well. The pancake stacks were huge and full of blueberries. My wife said it was puffy and tasty. My cheeseburger was on the smaller side with fresh ingredients. The beef pattie needed some salt. This review is for the breakfast buffet specifically. Despite what the website says, Skeeter's serves it from 8 AM (not 9) until Noon on Sundays, which I confirmed via a phone call to the restaurant. Me and a friend arrived a little past 10AM, and everything that was out was still hot and fresh! The buffet was placed a little awkwardly; one end is near the kitchen window where servers collect 'menu orders', so I was often dodging people on my way up to get food. This isn't helped by the fact that it's very dark inside the restaurant, and the dining room also becomes pretty cramped with the buffet in action. When it gets busy - and it will - you'll find yourself constantly looking for the least awkward way to squeeze past other tables. But at least the buffet includes a build-your-own omelette station; toppings include ham, bell peppers, mushrooms and cheese, plus more I probably can't remember. The guy running this station seems to have his own tip jar, so feel free to bring a couple of small bills up there while you wait for your order to be made, fresh in front of you. It only takes a minute, but as it is just one guy with a single burner, expect to see a line. The rest of the buffet is also well-stocked; meat options include some bacon (pretty fatty, didn't like this too much) and some pretty decent sliced smoked sausage. After this was a basket of their house-made tortillas, a metal server with two kinds of scrambled eggs (the 'special' eggs just seemed to have chopped tomato added?), and some chopped potatoes and grits. The grits were pretty bland - and the potatoes didn't look too appetizing, but were cooked with garlic and herbs and tasted better than they looked. Other carb options included tamales with refried beans on the side, pancakes and biscuits, with syrup and white gravy both being kept warm. And last of all was fresh fruit; the star of the show for me, with one of the best selections I've seen on a buffet! Three kinds of melon, pineapple, blueberries and strawberries. Drinks aren't included with the buffet, but there's a good variety of options. Regular or pecan hot coffee, three kinds of iced tea (sweet, unsweet, and unsweet blackcurrant), a soda fountain, and iced water is offered with added cucumber or lime, mint leaves and lemon wedges on the side. The only downside is there's an entirely separate dispenser for ice - and since we were provided with clear cups, it didn't work unless we waved our hands in front of the sensor. It was kind of hard to get used to and didn't work very well, either taking a few attempts to dispense anything at all or shooting out way too much. Overall, it was pretty good. A little over $15 (as of March 2023) gets you all-you-can-eat, and soft drinks are priced reasonably. It's not the most efficient setup - but if you're willing to deal with a few minor annoyances, arrive hungry, and it'll keep you going all the way until dinner! read more

Never said sorry about that or anything of the sort. After another potato was prepared - manager said "here ya go". Acted just like he had done me a big favor. In addition to not offering an apology (or excuse for the poor quality item during a none-busy hour), the manager never even said thank you or come back. I thought I would give them a second try to a prior poor experience when they served me a taco salad with the lettuce so wet that the bottom of the taco shell stuck to the cardboard box holding it and had to be returned. Not to be confused with Ski-ers (people who slide down mountains on metal poles and hurt themselves) or Seaters (people who sit you down... sometimes on them), or Sweeteners (Ari Grande albums). This is a friendly place serving Mesquite style food, which tastes pretty good, on the bland side of spiciness but still with a nice flavour. The Mesquite chicken is usually my go-to, and I eat it on days when I lift weights, and it's not bad. Having said that it could be a lot better. It's not my kind of food and it's a little bit on the expensive side. I also noticed that a lot of the reviews are fake, but this is Houston, and Houston Yelp for some reason is totally not taken care of by the powers-that-be and has more fake reviews than I've seen anywhere. I decided to try Skeeter's after probably 5 or more years. Gone, is the beef plate, but they still have just as an amazing rewards program as they've always had. If you join their rewards program, you get a free $5 welcome reward as well as a $10 birthday reward during your birthday month. I chose to use the latter. I ordered the small chips & queso, which cost $4.95 and came with a big basket of chips - I couldn't end up eating them all, and a cup of queso. The queso was hot & creamy and I even used some of it with my meal. They have several big screen TV's around to watch the game you're interested in. I ordered the grilled chicken dinner which comes with a grilled chicken breast, but as you can see in the photo came with another 1/3rd of a grilled chicken breast. The plate also came with borracho beans & rice and flour tortillas. The grilled chicken comes sizzling on a bed of onions - fajita style. Delicious! My co-workers and I ordered lunch on a Saturday, 2 burger meals and 2 tacos, it was ready within 20 minutes for pick up. The brisket taco with the corn salsa and spicy mayo was the absolute BOMB! The brisket was perfect! The flour tortilla was warmed on the grill with cheese so it had that crispy cheese crust. It was absolutely fantastic! The guys both got the bacon cheese Skeeter burger and they were BOTH ready to take a fat nap after! Be careful! The cleaner they use to clean the tables are so strong if your skin is sensitive you can get a rash or chemical burn! We went to the zoo and had lunch there after. When we got there the booths weren't ready so we asked a guy to wipe it down and whatever he used to spray the wooden benches was so strong it gave me a bad rash/chemical burn that itches and stings. I didn't do anything different in my routine and the placement of the burn tells me it was from sitting on those benches and we watched him spray it all and wipe it. I would be careful! I hope they don't use the same cleaner in the kitchen near food prep! read more

Moved away so was excited to come back to Skeeters. What a difference two years makes. Grilled chicken came our sizzling, popping out grease onto me and my outfit. I tried to cover it with napkins. It would not stop. I have had griddles before and have never been burned by it. Also the rice was burned, manager says that always happens. He brought me extra rice, thank you. This place never disappoints. I've been going here for the past few weeks every week with our office staff and they frequent this place since it's quick service and the portions are just the right amount. I love that their tacos come with chips and salsa since some places don't offer a side to accompany their tacos. Their breakfast taco is yummy and it's not even the eggs and bacon...it's the TORTILLA that really makes the taco. It's really soft and huge and I think that's what makes it taste even better. Their fried fish tacos are really yummy too. These are the only items that I have been ordering these past few weeks. I highly recommend this place if you work around the area and don't have much time to spare for lunch since they are pretty fast.
