The location is always safe and casual due to the TRUCKS AND TRUCK STOP. When you're driving the Texas Interstate or State Highways, the sign showing Food, Gas , Lodging is always referring to a (or Dairy Queen) next to a Truck Stop selling Knick knacks of the state you're in. I love shopping in a truck stop too. They have the best inventions for life on the road. I am missing them now! read more

I went through the drive most times, but I love the outer and inner 50's design. It could be a little nicer (some of the booth seats have small tears near the top of them.) It's on film, I won't spoil it But everyone in the lobby heard her This location has super friendly employees and super cute customers and a 24-hour lobby with an outlet that came in handy when I was traveling across country, and the place reaffirmed to me what I already knew. Which is that I am really not a big fan of Whataburger. I had a half decent chorizo egg taco which my server didn't even realize was on the menu. I had some pretty decent fries that don't really live up to the magic of McDonald's fries although they were fresh cooked so I give an additional star for that. And I had one of the worst chocolate milkshakes I've ever had - I asked for a small and ended up with a massive thing. I felt sick and bloated afterwards and only drank a third of it before it hit the trash. Fast food is definitely not my thing and even if it was, Whataburger is far from one of the better ones. The burger itself is all bread and pickle and relish and mustard and no meat - the patty itself is extremely thin and nothing to write home about. There are not any Whataburger restaurants where we live but I've heard or read about them for years. So when we stayed overnight in Texarkana, AR, and I found that there was a Whataburger about a mile away from our hotel, I had to try it; and I wasn't even very hungry. My wife had to be on a conference call so I agreed to go there for a take out order. Since it was my first time at a Whataburger, even though I had reviewed the on line menu, I still needed to look the menu over for a few minutes to decide what to order. We had seen an advertisement for a Coffee Shake that we wanted to try (we often refer to ourselves as a marketer's dream) so I ordered two large ones. Then I also ordered a Whataburger Meal (after all, it's called Whataburger) and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich Meal and substituted the shakes for the meal soft drinks. The sandwiches were a good size and tasted good, although they would have been better hot, as a dine in option as well as the fries. The service was a little slower than I normally experience at other fast food chains but was reasonably friendly. While I was waiting I observed a customer walk in and ask for the manager about an order problem and the manager immediately took care of making it right. Overall this was a good first experience for me with Whataburger but next time I think I'll dine in instead. read more

In the Drive thru we ordered a burger and asked could we pay with two debit cards, partial payments, we told yes. When we got to the drive thru, the attendant attempted to put the money on there and it declined. We told her we wanted ,$5.00 to the first card, and they told me were not allowed to do that were allowed to pay cash plus card, which was not what we were told . The attendant called the manager to the window, the manager said they were not allowed to do that. I proceeded to give another card, which they charged the full amount on, after they told me they would run the first card for $2.00. They charged the full amount on that card, speaking to the manager, I made a complaint that this was not acceptable, the manager did not apologize at all period, I was very offended. The manager did not seek to offer me any reduction or free food. Again I was offended in their lack of customer service and friendliness. I will not be purchasing from them again and I hope who reads this will understand my situation and treat this establishment likewise. read more

Before reading the reviews, we stopped in here because we love their breakfast taquitos!! I am not from Texas, don't claim to be, and don't want to be. I've heard this is the greatest fast food burger around from a whole bunch of Texans so let's test out their theory. First of all the fries. These are the closest thing to McDonald's Fries you'll find without a Mc in front of them. Not bad at all. I ordered a Double Meat Whataburger with everything. I hate to admit it but it is a mighty fine fast food burger. Maybe the best I've had in the realm of fast food. Seasoning is tops for me and this burger was well seasoned. A McD's like French fry and a large well seasoned burger makes this a thumbs up positive review for me. Well, I literally passed 5 different Wendy's cuz Texans shout eat at Whataburger when they've been out of state 5 weeks. Yeah, no. So what can I say? Staff was friendly. They got two stars for that. I never hear the end of the Whataburger/in-n-out rivalry from my Texas friends. I'm originally from California so In-n-out burger will always hold a special place in my heart. However, I had to see what all the hype was about with this Whataburger place. My BF and I stopped at the first Whataburger we could find on our cross country trip, which happened to be on the state line between Arkansas and Texas. When we entered we were greeted almost immediately and asked if we had been helped yet. After a few minutes of deliberating, we decided to get a jalapeño cheeseburger, a BBQ chicken strip sandwich, fries, and onion rings. I also got a chocolate shake and my BF got a fountain drink. We were helped by a woman named Lela who was so awesome! We could tell just by talking to her that she was passionate about working for Whataburger and told us about their famous spicy ketchup and how some people even collect them (they are all numbered). Our food came out quickly and was pretty decent! The fries and onion rings were superb and my BBQ chicken sandwich was pretty good. For some reason, I just wish it had been on a bun instead of Texas toast. My bf's burger was pretty solid, too! Lela also brought out my milkshake...which ended up being twice the size of a normal milkshake. No joke. It was probably at least 32 oz of milkshake. Lela, you the real MVP! After we finished eating, Lela even came over to ask us how we liked everything and chatted with us for a bit. I have to say that I am extremely impressed by Whataburger's customer service and their employees. Hospitality and friendliness definitely goes a long way. read more

This has been my Texarkana burger stop for years when I drive to and from Texas. Never had a bad burger here and it brings back great memories of the type of burger I grew up eating. Today my bun wasn't toasted quite enough, but other than that, no complaints. read more

Here, the staff is always waiting on you hand and foot. They joke with you, make you feel comfortable, and make sure you have what you need. The food was good, and the staff was wonderful. We will definitely be back. Ordered the patty melt, what a chicken, and other burgers and fries and onion rings. No complaints, besides my cousin saying the chicken sandwich wasn't "at its best" There were two men who were really great servers/workers. The restaurant and the bathrooms were decent (cleanliness). This was the worst Whataburger I've ever been to!! The table was dirty with food and something sticky. They were super annoyed when I asked for a paper towel to clean it. They also tried to charge us for ketchup when they handed it out to other tables. My burger was super dry. The only saving grace was the lady who stepped in and wiped the table for me. The food has been a bit fresher the last couple times I've eaten there. However, the young woman at the payment window was very rude to me around 10:30 am on Friday June 25th. I asked to speak to the manager. I explained what happened. She didn't seem in the least concerned. This annoyed me so I said I would contact Corp. She that was fine; corporate would just send the complaint back to her and she would be calling me. I'm not sure I ever remember being treated as rudely as those 2 young women treated me. Since the only other whataburger in town has such poor food quality they will probably get away with having such poor customer service skills. Traveling from Ft. Worth back to D.C., I figured I would get my last Whataburger for a while and decided to stop in at this one. Upon walking in I noticed there were about 7 people working in the back, to about 2 customers in the restaurant. They were kind of snapping at each other and being quite loud, I was turned off and immediately expected a mediocre experience. The girl taking the order was sweet so I ordered and awaited the #5. Oh. My. God. I have been to many Whataburgers, in many states, this was the best I think I have ever had. The meat was juicy and the cheese was melty, it had that drip of grease that you want in a burger. The buns were perfectly toasted, it was a masterpiece. The fries were above average also. If I ever find myself in Texarkana again, even if it's not a set time for a meal, I will be having another #5. read more

On our travels back into Texas we stopped at Whataburger the first chance we got. Well this location was not as favorable as our other visits we had at other locations. The soda fountain was not working during our visit but they did have cans of everything they were providing for the customers. The food was average tasting and the fries felt like they were missing the good flavor that you usually expect with Whataburger. Next time we will probably continue driving a little further into the Texas area for another place to eat. read more
