Loaded Wheelhouse Fries
Gracie D.

Stopped in for the Happy Hour specials before attending a concert at the casino. I had never been to the Wheelhouse specifically before this visit. We were there on a Thursday around 6 PM. I am not sure if it was because of the concert, the Happy Hour, or a combination of factors, but the restaurant was fairly busy. We sat at the bar, and it was completely full. It is a more casual restaurant, and it opens to the casino floor. I thought the value that the Happy Hour deals presented was hard to beat. We got several of the items to share, and it was under $30 for all the food. The portion sizes were generous, given the price point. My personal favorites were the Loaded Wheelhouse Fries and the Polish Hill Nachos. The items were similar, in being potato-based with nacho toppings. I thought the portions of these were great for the price, and they are very generous with the toppings. Sometimes with nachos and things such as, you are running out of toppings halfway through the plate. Definitely not the case here. There are some drink specials for the Happy Hour as well. I got a $4 Domestic Draft in a Blue Moon. There are also specials on certain cocktails, wines, and other non-domestic beer. A tip about the drinks - since the restaurant is inside the casino, you can take them with you anywhere throughout. So, we ordered some extra drinks and took them upstairs to the concert. The service is what knocked this review down a few stars for me. We were able to order the food in an appropriate amount of time, and it came out quickly. Since we were sitting at the bar, the bartenders were taking care of us. They were hard to get the attention of after taking our initial order. So much so, that we tried to order a few more drinks before the Happy Hour ended, and the bartender told us to hold on while he serviced new customers. This was around 6:50. By the time he circled back, it was past 7 and he would not honor the Happy Hour price. I have worked in food service for a long time, and I believe if you are present before the close/end of a promotion, you should have the opportunity to order at the promotional price. Plus, we would have ordered before 7 had the bartender taken our order when we tried the first time. I liked the specials and pricing for the Happy Hour. However, I would probably return on a less busy day or come earlier so the issue we had is less likely to occur.

We waited 20 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged us or took drinks during a 1/3 full dining capacity. Not only that we were supposed to have a different waiter but she covered for him as he came 25 mins after asking if we got menus. It wasn't busy during that time either. So right off the jump, this place wasn't my favorite. The salad was good and definitely worth the price but enough for 2 meals - very excessive amount. I wish I read that there was fries and bleu cheese crumbles in it - had to pick both out. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious but very small amount of that was given (see photo basically small gravy size bowl). I do like the comfortable dim lighting and seating with plenty space between tables.

No complaints on my end ! This isn't the first time I have eaten here but it has been awhile. A lot of restaurants /eateries change names / companies in the Rivers Casino so it says a lot that Wheelhouse has been there for a long long time ! My husband and I came here to eat before the Steeler game so we could do a little gambling as well. Though they were pretty packed , they managed to get us a small two top table . Service was pretty quick with drinks and food. Server friendly enough. I enjoyed the pittsburgh Cobb salad with chicken and my husband had the burger. Both absolutely wonderful! The portions are pretty big so you will certainly leave full , if not with left overs. I have also sat at the bar before and it wasn't a bad experience. Bartenders are super busy and certainly not there to chat, but I get it for the business they do! Atmosphere is very modern and simple. Not a ton of decor but who needs that when you have sports on their many many tvs! Great place to dine if you're going to enjoy a casino or north shore night.

dining area,

As a 1st time guest this was a horrible visit to wheel house. The manager Hayden showed zero respect for any of the errors his kitchen made. Not only were 4 of the orders both cold & wrong, He basically laughed and said since the kitchen messed up we could either eat it or starve. Will never be back & Hayden should not be a manager either with that attitude.

I've eaten in the Wheelhouse multiple times over the years but this is my first review. My most recent visit was during happy hour. I had an 8oz NY Strip which was good, a little fat on the end but tasty. I had chili which was really good and my Sierra Nevada was excellent. Being seated at the bar my food came out promptly. Overall I've never had a bad meal here, and typically the food comes out quickly. I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a visit.

First time here. Went around 530 or 6. Right during rush hour. We were able to get a text when our table was ready. We requested for a specific table and they were able to do that for us. The place was busy but everything came out quickly. They had a ton of drink options and the food menu had a little of everything. The food was very well prepared. The white fish was buttery and flaky. It tasted fantastic. The steak was a perfect medium rare and well seasoned. It wasn't chewy like some steaks are. The garlic butter gave it. A real pop. It's the casino so there was ample parking. Eventhough the casino was smokey the restaurant was not. I'd definitely try this place again.

We had a very good lunch at Wheelhouse. I had the Pittsburgh Cobb Salad and it was very tasty. Service was great as well. Even if you're losing at the slots, you'll win with lunch here.

Wheelhouse is a lifesaver. If you are in town and want a good meal after 9pm. Come to wheelhouse, because most restaurants close at 9-10pm even on weekend. Dinning area is huge. TVs on all the walls. Full menu of burger, sandwich, pasta and steak. $24.61 for a big bowl of chicken pasta with a salad is not bad in 2024. Taste better than some of the so call homemade Italian restaurant I been to. Pasta is just right, al dente. Service is good even they are busy at 10pm. Definitely coming back for more.

I've been to quite a few cigar lounges--and even worked at one--so I have a good sense of what makes a place stand out. Burn by Rocky Patel did just that on every level. The ambiance, décor, cigar selection, and service were all top-tier. It's a classy lounge with a twist of sports bar energy, which made it both elevated and fun. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day, and they had live entertainment--a violinist playing along to hip hop and R&B--which created such a unique vibe. Kayla, the bartender, let us know about the live entertainment the day before, it wasn't posted on their social media or website. She was attentive, sweet, and made excellent drinks. Evan, who was working the cigar side, was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and communicated well with customers even during a heavy flow. One thing that really stood out was the crowd--mixed ages, mature, and plenty of ladies confidently partaking in the beautiful art of cigars, which I loved seeing. Even if you don't smoke cigars, the vibes in this place are worth the visit. If and when I return to Pittsburgh, this place is a must. It's also within walking distance to the stadiums, which is a huge plus. Feedback for management: The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the disconnect between locations and social media postings. There was an event listed on the website that wasn't actually happening at this location, while an amazing event that was happening wasn't shared online; which would have been a shame to miss. It may be worth considering in-house social media and website management to ensure updates are accurate and timely to the specific location.

The dirty martini was fairly pungent and strong so not sure I would get it again but I'm also not big on dirty martinis so probably just the wrong choice on my part. But the food was the star of the show. We ate so many good dishes- starting with the rainbow platter. Loved the baba ghanoush and the roasted cauliflower - those were my favorite of the 7 dishes on the platter. We also ordered the labneh, hummus with chicken and lamb shawarma, and the kafta kebabs (rolled up in some sort of tortilla) which were all fantastic! If we come back (which we will) I would just order the baba ghanoush instead of the rainbow platter, all the other dishes we ordered, and maybe one additional plate. I felt like I didn't really need the Israeli salad (tomato and cucumber) or the pickled cauliflower and radish that came on the rainbow platter. The hummus was SO soft and fluffy. This was some of the best food we've had in Pittsburgh. After having lived in a Philly for 4 years, we know good mediterranean/lebanese food and I'd be surprised if you can find better in Pittsburgh. Service was also very good.

We got drinks and 4 mezze / small plates. I liked my kiss my anise cocktail. It's rye based and was peppery and lightly sweet. My husband's cocktail was slightly sweeter and smoky. We shared four plates. I thought the stuffed grape leaves were a little slimy, but otherwise delicious. The Pierogi peppers were the most interesting item for me. They were pierogi filling in a sweet pepper with crispy onion on top-kudos on that dish! Out other two plates were the seared ahi tuna which had a nice savory crust and the chicken souvlaki, which was pretty standard. Our server was friendly and pleasant. The space was beautiful. Would highly recommend coming here for cocktails and small plates, the pizza at other tables looked pretty tasty too!
