3 of us went to Easter dinner yesterday...my daughter ordered a blackened chicken salad with no onions and no tomatoes. Her salad came non- blackened...we sent it back...by the time they brought it back, my husband and I were done eating....the salad came with tons of onions and tomatoes, which she is allergic to and the chicken was STILL not blackened...the manager was extremely rude and basically said too bad!!!! read more

Last visit to the casino we ate at the wheelhouse.. always good food. Its my favorite restaurant at the casino and a great place to get a drink too. During our last dining experience, my boyfriend got the "black n gold burger" which is a burger and 2 grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun!!! I had two bites and this burger blew my mind... genius!!!!!! We have not stopped talking about this burger.. It was really good. Next time I splurge from my healthy diet.. I am going back and getting this burger. It might very well be my meal if I was on death row! LOL read more

Great happy hour and bartenders. They have plenty of TVs so you can watch whatever game is on. Their blackened salmon is really good, and the Polish Hill nachos are amazing. You can't go wrong with the wedding soup, and the chicken broccoli alfredo is surprisingly good as well. Just watch out for that roasted banana pepper.. that sucker is spicy! My husband really enjoyed the Buffalo chicken sandwich, and I really enjoyed the grilled chicken and pesto sandwich. My favorite thing though is probably the open face pot roast sandwich with mashed potatoes. It's amazing. It does get pretty busy during happy hour or during events, but they have plenty of bartenders and have no problem keeping up. read more

We came here on New Years Eve. First, I must say that our server, Keith I believe was his name, was a gentleman. He gets 5 stars without question. I've come across many who are pleasant, but sometimes you get those who come across as truly genuine and going above and beyond to be courteous to you and show they care about your experience. I feel that Keith fits this to a tee. Salad and steak with the wine sauce were okay not bad but not super great either. I wasn't too crazy about the taste of that wine sauce. That tiramisu however was very close to if not the best I've ever had. Seriously if it wasn't for my main course, my rating would have easily been a 5. Still a very good dining experience. read more

Utterly disgusted with The Wheelhouse. We live nearby and walk to eat there often, planning to enjoy the patio near the river on perfect weather days like this one. We tolerate the food, hoping for the vibe. Trouble is... patio is rarely open and it's completely unpredictable. It's their business and, if they choose to close their space, that's their right. It's my right to not go back. But, my real complaint is that they seem to issue a standard "canned lie"... oh, there was a chance of rain so we didn't open patio today. We took visitors tonite, hoping to dine on the patio. Went an hour early to be sure we could get a table outside along the river. Weather forecast ALL day had rain chances at 1%. The flawless Pittsburgh day. We felt confident it would be the one day patio was actually open. Oh, yeah, patio is covered anyway. Host says "oh, the forecast had possible rain so we chose not to open the outside". When you just don't have enough staff...or staff not willing to walk to the patio... don't lie! We are not as stupid as we apparently look!! PS. The food/service is OK if you are in the casino anyway but it's most assuredly not worth a destination visit, especially if you can't sit outside. I got the ultimate nachos, my friends got the pierogies, cheese sticks, although they were patties, and this hamburger where the buns were two grilled cheese, sandwiches, and fries. (See photo). I have NEVER written a review before, but this truly was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. My family enjoys going to the casino every year for my brother's birthday, and we eat at Wheelhouse EVERY YEAR. I can honestly say that tradition is broken. Our server was rude and not around very much. But our biggest issue was A MOUSE that ran under the table next to us and back to what I assume was its residence in the wall behind our table. We immediately notified our server and she said "Oh yeah, we've been trying to get him. Do you want the manager or something?" I thought that response was a little to flippant considering a mouse had just been inches from our feet. The manager did eventually visit our table, but nothing, and I'll repeat NOTHING was done about this. We were told that this was already a known issue, and they were doing their best. I've seen a review from last year at this time with the same problem. I can't eat in a restaurant that I know has mice and can't seem to get that problem under control. No comp, no apology, just a table of nine people unable to eat the food that they then paid full price for. We won't be back. read more

Ordered a beer and a menu. Two bartenders and one of them out to lunch left the other really good one immediately apologizing for everything. She was very good. Ordered something simple because I didn't have a good feeling about it, Cheesesteak with fries. Cheesesteak was terrible. Hard bread, slopped all up with cheese sauce, broke apart, went everywhere, and was a flavorless mess. Just redo that item completely! Saving grace was the good bartender and the fries. They had "blended fries", a mixture of curly, waffle, and house. They were all crispy, seasoned, and tasty! Unreal how many restaurants mess up fries of all things! Came in on a Wednesday at 5:30 and the restaurant was about half full. There were 4 of us- me, my wife and my parents. We were seated quickly and our server was over in a matter of minutes. We knew about the happy hour specials (half price apps & drafts) so we ordered 2 drafts and the jalapeño bites ($5). My parents ordered a water, a Pepsi and the nacho app ($4.50). The drinks came out rather quickly, the apps took about 10 minutes. We then ordered entrees... The bites came out first and were pretty good but not great. The jalapinos were rather small but for bacon lovers- the bacon was abundant! The nachos was a mountain that had everything you would want on nachos. Perfect...! My Fish & Chips ($17) came out good but not great. The fish was a bit greasy as if the oil wasn't hot enough. The chips were a mix of fries & waffle cuts and were very good. The mixed veggies (cauliflower, broccoli & carrots) were perfect. The others in my party ordered sandwiches. They came w your choice of veggies, fries or Cole slaw. My wife ordered the Ultimate Burger ($10) med well and it came out perfect. She loved it and the bite she gave me was delicious. She said the fries were good but not great. My mom ordered the Hot Pastrami ($10) and she loved it. She had the Cole slaw and once she took the small bowl off her plate- her sandwich looked naked. Overall very solid place to grab a bite to eat in the casino. My husband and I visited recently around 3pm on a Saturday. We were seated immediately right along the glass windows overlooking the River. Awesome seats!!! Service was a tad slow, but we were in no rush so we didn't mind. (Extra patience is always something good to bring along when your out and about.) For appetizer we ordered the mozzarella sticks. Pretty solid. Crunchy outside, warm and gooey inside. Yummy! Used the Yelp Waitlist (highly suggested) to snag a table for two on a busy Saturday night at Rivers Casino. I joined the waitlist because it said the wait was 40 more minutes, and I was 12th in line, but literally I had a table ready in like 7 minutes! We actually had a nice table by the window that looks to the patio & outdoor stage. The back window of the restaurant currently has a view of construction of the new hotel that is soon to be connected to the casino. There is also a huge pile of dirt outside that window making for an unattractive view. Our server appeared right away and took a drink & appetizer order. We had the Buffalo chicken dip. It was good, but not very spicy and came with tortilla chips. I had the Cobb Salad with chicken, which is huge and my friend had the fish sandwich (also huge) & a cup of wedding soup. Total with tax including one beer was $53. Food was better than expected and service was good & fast. It was crowded so a decent experience. It's loud so be prepared. Hands down this is the worst value for your money of any restaurant I've ever been to in my life. If you want to pay $20 for Catholic school onion rings from 1987, this is the place. I've lived in Pittsburgh since 2015 and have visited The Rivers many times, since. Tonight is the first night I was able to make Happy Hour at the Wheelhouse. I splurged and bought their Ultimate Nachos and Cheese Quesadilla on their happy hour menu. Check out the prices! My server was Roxy and she was FANTASTIC!!! Extremely professional, quite personable, and courteous. I enjoyed chatting with her as much as I enjoyed my Happy Hour apps and drinks. The atmosphere is relaxing, music very entertaining, and the service is top notch! If you've never tried out happy hour at the Wheelhouse, I recommend it with 3 thumbs up!!! read more

We stopped gambling when we got hungry, and the perfect mid priced stop is The Rivers Casinos, Wheelhouse. Not too long of a wait for a busy Saturday night, but it is a casino so the wait was entertaining waiting for their message on my phone. To start off we had the appetizer of Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos with cream cheese and an incredible dip. A must try. My wife and I both had the Medium Rare New York Strip Steak, she had a baked Sweet Potato while I had a Loaded Baked Potato with chunks of real bacon, cheeses, and sour cream which paired very well with the 24 oz Angry Orchard drafts that we had. The steaks so tender they just melted in our mouths. So tasty our taste buds danced in joy. It was pure ecstasy of Steak enjoyment. We hated eating the last bites, but it had to end sometime. The ONLY reason to come here is for happy hour, other than that, just don't. And for happy hour I'm not saying it's better, it's just cheaper. I came with coworkers for happy hour yesterday and at first we were going to sit at 2 separate tables but then half of us just decided to stand at the bar. So I'll give you the run down at the bar and at the table: Bar: this isn't Southside on a Friday night, it shouldn't take me more than 10 minutes to get a glass of wine. The issue isn't necessarily the bartenders (even though they definitely were socializing a lot considering how many people needed drinks) it's the fact that they're SEVERELY understaffed behind the bar. The picture I took shows half the bar and look at the drinks. Every single person has an empty glass. Isn't that the number one responsibility at a bar? Table: the waiter was beyond confused the entire time. He would come back and say something wasn't available or it was kicked or offer a drink for free then at the end he charged everyone for everything and was like oh I forgot. Getting checks was a literal nightmare also. Considering this is in the Casino and I'd imagine the goal to be pump people in and out so they can gamble, they definitely fail at that. After having my high hopes of attending the grand buffet crushed by a long line of other hungry hopefuls all rushing the gates prior to closing, I decided to wander down to the wheelhouse... The wheelhouse offers a nice happy hour until 7pm with some good apps at half price definitely made for sharing! The menu items include a few items customized to Pittsburgh including Pittsburgh nachos which looked quite interesting. I decided on a burger and was pleasantly surprised by the taste. Situated inside the Rivers Casino, my partner and i enjoyed our visit! The salmon was to die for, The drink bucket was bomb! My partner didn't really care for her pierogi Nachos much but they were still pretty good to me. The staff were a little overwhelmed, But Thas everywhere and you can't blame them for ppl not wanting to show up. The manager was awesome, gave us great tips for our trip . we are frequent visitors of the Rivers casino. We frequent the Wheelhouse for lunch and dinner. They have lots of great food and staff- however- for the second time we have encountered a server by the name of DEVEDA that is so horrible that if you encounter her you need to immediately ask for another server! She will immediately rush you to order- she is arrogant and just wants you to order and get the he'll out! Don't forget the tip! She is a total embarrassment to the Wheelhouse establishment! She was such a sloppy server that when I asked for our bill, she ( and this is noooo exaggeration ) tossed our bill fold thing with the bill in it onto our table hitting my glass of ice tea! I can't imagine how she holds a job there unless they are totally desperate for help! I have reached out to customer service with absolutely no response so far. She won't stop me from dining at the Wheelhouse but in my opinion, she should be serving food in the women's prison- not in a public place where patrons are spending money and trying to enjoy their time off. read more

Ordered a chili and double stack burger (medium) with mash potatoes and gravy. The service is great- kind, courteous, pleasant. The mash potatoes and gravy are awesome. Th chili should be renamed to hamburger soup with vegetables. Very little seasoning. The medium double hamburger was not pink and warm inside (see pic). Instead well done and dry. I love the Wheelhouse. By far the best restaurant in the Rivers casino. They have such a wide variety on the menu & the portions are HUGE. I've eaten here several times & always have leftovers. Portions are definitely large enough to share. The meatloaf dinner is one of my favorites. It's cooked perfectly & you get two sides PLUS soup or salad. Can't beat that for $17! Wheelhouse also have a decent French dip. Service is usually pretty quick and the staff is friendly. Their wedding soup is also really good and you can't go wrong with one of the salads.
