Burnt End Mac & Cheese with a side of baked beans.

This is the best BBQ Wichita has to offer. Brisket is juicy and tender, ribs are "fall off the bone", turkey is fantastic, pulled pork is awesome, hot links are fantastic. I have never had a meat/meal at When Pigs Fly that wasn't delicious and made you want to come back for more. All of the side dishes are fantastic as well, I personally love the beans and coleslaw. Both hot and mild bbq sauce is available at the table. The restaurant is nice and roomy with booths and regular seating. It's what you'd find in a typical BBQ joint and exceptionally clean. The employees are top notch, always walking around making sure guests are doing ok, tidying up the place etc. If I had to recommend a BBQ joint in Wichita, this is my go to!! Go give When Pigs Fly a try and you will not leave disappointed.

I stopped in for lunch after seeing the great reviews. I'm from out of town and am always on the hunt for good BBQ. I had ribs, turkey, baked beans and Cole slaw. The baked beans had a nice kick to them and were very good as was the slaw. The ribs, in my opinion, were over cooked, but maybe the folks around here prefer them that way. They weren't bad by any means, just not how I like ribs. The turkey was spot on and perfect! It was the best turkey I've had in a while. The atmosphere is great. The service was very friendly and helpful. They also have great iced tea. If I lived here I would definitely return to try the other meats and sides.

The Bulldozer with a side of baked beans

I have stalked this place on social media for over a year watching their creations. Today I had the day off and decided to try the place. I called up a buddy and we met over that the location. I decided to order The Bulldozer since I could try brisket, turkey and hot links. Also got a side of their baked beans. The sandwich was huge. Turkey and links good. I was disappointed with how much fat was in my brisket to the point of unenjoyable. The beans were pretty good. My buddy got a two meat tray with brisket, hot links, and a side of macaroni. Sadly, we both realized the parts we enjoyed most were the sides. Staff were very friendly and interior clean and comfy.

This place is fantastic!! I had a two meat plate (turkey & brisket) two sides and a drink for $20. Well worth it to me. Every bite was delicious. Prefect 5

We went for the special but sadly they sold out. I ended up getting turkey and ribs. The turkey was super moist. The ribs were amazing. I loved that they weren't covered in sauce but still had great flavor. The green beans were delicious. The baked beans were a little spicy to me, but still tasted good. The guy at the counter taking the orders was super nice. Their pickles are the best pickles. The restaurant was super clean.

    Burnt ends mac and cheese

Saw online that they had a burnt ends mac and cheese special which made today's lunch decision easy cause burnt ends. So we stopped by late afternoon for lunch to go and ordered the special as well as a smoked turkey sandwich. After a short wait we had our food. Always appreciate a short wait time. I did try a bite of the special which was really, really good. The burnt ends are perfectly seasoned, the mac and cheese was creamy and it had onion crisps as well as green onions. All of this came together in the best BBQ mac and cheese I've ever had to date. Hubby also enjoyed it very much! As for the turkey sandwich, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Due to reflux issues I have to opt out of having BBQ sauce on anything which can be a bummer. But not with this sandwich. Again, this turkey is perfectly seasoned and it's not dry. This is a problem with most smoked turkey. I loved being able to eat this without needing to drown it in sauce. I will definitely get it again in the future!

So once again, I find the BBQ spots when I'm on the road for work. This one was a great choice. 1. Greeted immediately and liked the vibe of the spot. 2. The gentleman who gave me info was kind and courteous. 3. Brisket or ribs is usually what I try at any BBQ spot. So here I went with the ribs. Great flavor, fresh, good serving size and not a bad price at all. 4. I got cream corn and garlic green brands as sides and man.... Truly... excellent flavor. I'd encourage anyone to try these sides. 5. Any BBQ spot would never receive a lower rating for this but.... You don't have Mac and cheese as a BBQ spot?!?!?! Come on!!!! . 6. The sweet tea has to be on point for a 5 star rating though most of the time... this one was good, but I was as the bottom of the pitcher she it was so sweet I had to water it down (which never happens). All in all, if you're considering giving this place a shot, you should.

Yesterday, I heard the voice of angels... and it was coming straight from Station 8 BBQ in Wichita,…read moreKansas, my heaven on Earth. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was about to experience something special. My taste buds didn't just wake up -- they rejoiced! This wasn't just a meal; it was a full-blown experience wrapped in smoke and perfection. Let's talk about the legends first. Their smoked sausage gravy and biscuits, and Texas Twinkies have wowed me before, and I'm here to testify: they absolutely did not let me down this time. The biscuits and gravy were flawless -- perfectly tender biscuits smothered in rich, savory smoked sausage gravy that tasted like it was crafted with love and a little bit of magic. Every bite was comfort food at its highest level. And the Texas Twinkies - Amazingly indescribable. Smoky, cheesy, savory masterpieces with just the right kick -- the kind of bite that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate what's happening. But now... the revelation. The new pork belly cinnamon rolls with frosting. Let me just say this: talk about melting in your mouth. Sweet, smoky pork belly wrapped in a delicious blend of warm cinnamon and brown sugar. Slowly melted into a sweet and Rich caramel-like sweetness and topped with luscious frosting. It was the kind of creation that makes you question why all cinnamon rolls aren't made this way. The balance of savory and sweet was nothing short of genius. Station 8 BBQ doesn't just serve food -- they serve moments. They serve joy. They serve flavors that linger in your memory long after the plate is clean. If you haven't made the pilgrimage yet, go. Your soul (and your stomach) will thank you.

When I tell yall that this was the best brisket I've ever had in my LIFE. I live in Southern California and I can't wait to have an excuse to fly back and eat some. The pulled pork was good, the pork belly was bomb, but that melt in your mouth, juicy, splashing with flavor brisket, is, "I'll take an unnecessary trip to middle of nowhere Kansas" LIFE-CHANGING. Waited about an hour in line while it was hard sprinkling and it was worth every second. Guys working the front are hilarious and welcoming. I can't wait to go back!

Another year, another restaurant pops up to occupy the doomed little building near 47th and Seneca…read more Everything about Sweet Willy's is heavy-handed, from the menu's cartoon cowboy claiming this to be the best barbecue he's had, to the amount of hickory used in the meat that ensures you're going to smell like the woods before you make it back to the car. Going so over the top doesn't help my old barbecue standbys: the pork was on the way to becoming jerky, the brisket was dry and the fat unrendered, and even the sausage had a casing that was too thick for my liking. The ribs, on the other hand, stood up to the smoke well, producing a caramelized crust that gave way to tender meat that came off the bone cleanly. I'm not normally a ribs guy, but it was one of the saving graces of the meal. What Sweet Willy's lacks in panache it makes up for in gusto. The menu is peppered with all sorts of non-traditional applications of barbecue, from poutine to chicken lollipops to tacos, though the most surprisingly enjoyable thing may be the burnt ends, which are tossed in a honey and garlic sauce that is not only more subtle than the KC-style sauces served with everything else, but surprisingly works well with the sugars in the meat in a way that doesn't overwhelm. There's clearly a lot of effort put into Sweet Willy's, but not a lot of confidence, no matter how many "yums" are on the menu. There's some good to be found in places you wouldn't expect, but the brisket and pork are serve as the foundation upon which the rest of the menu is built, so improving them should be the first priority.

The garlic slaw isn't too sweet, the sweet potato salad is a surprisingly delicious change from traditional, and the baked beans are the perfect mix of sweet smoky and a kick.
