Clockwise from top: collared greens, rice and beans, shrimp and grits
    Maryam G.

Oh no, despite so much love, I did not love most of my food from WYAM! Of course the hype has me doubting myself. It is possible that I just ordered wrong. I ordered the pork po' boy, and though I was told it was shredded pork when I asked, it was in fact chewy slices of pork inside. The slaw was nice, but the pork itself was not pleasant to me. The collared greens--a special--were too sweet, and the shrimp and grits were greasy. The rice and beans tasted okay, so I filled up on those. I did however love the hot and fluffy beignets. Excellent, and not something you find everywhere! I also want to note that WYAM is run well! The line at the truck moved briskly, and that the gentleman taking the orders was both kind and efficient. WYAM also updates and communicates their locations via social media clearly, and that's helpful for a food truck! Don't be discouraged by a line, and give it a try--you might like it better than me.

I got the shrimp po'boy and it was worth the trek over to Westlake Park where the food truck is parked on Fridays. The other locations they frequent (as posted on their website) aren't convenient for me so I had been waiting to try their food for a while and I will definitely be revisiting! The shrimp was well-breaded and sizable, and there were a good amount in the sandwich. The sandwich is simple, fresh, and delicious.

Thanks to Field To Table for introducing us to another great local establishment, Where Ya At Matt is a great find. The name is really befitting as you have to check FB/IG to identify the location and operating hours. Once you've located the truck don't let the line discourage your wait as the service is efficient and wait time is minimal. Huge kudos for offering vegetarian options, especially the red beans and rice (it's nearly impossible to find vegetarian Cajun style anything and especially the red beans and rice dish.) My husband really enjoyed his shrimp poboy and shrimp/grits. The beignets are the REAL deal, a must order to enjoy with a great cup of coffee. We will definitely return, and highly recommend!!

If you're a fan of New Orleans style food, this is the place. If you aren't, maybe go elsewhere. I was in Pioneer square, saw the food trucks and decided on Matt's. Apparently I don't like New Orleans style food. The hot sauce selection was super wide and impressive, especially for a food truck, and the shrimp grits were okay, but the oyster Po Boy wasn't up my alley. Service was nice though, and I'd recommend going to Pioneer Square when he's parked there with the other trucks and buskers. Nice staff though, wish em the best.

Disappointed. I've had great po boys before. But today's shrimp po boy was nearly inedible. Shrimp was obviously either recycled from earlier, or the sandwich was premade and sitting around for a while as most of the breading on the shrimp was rubbed off and soggy, the shrimp was cold and the lettuce wilty and translucent like it'd all been sitting around a while.

Overall, I give Where Ya At Matt a total of 3.5 stars. Their moving food truck came to Ounces in West Seattle one of these past weekdays (about a month ago). Tip: Definitely check the Facebook schedule or website frequently to find out what date and location they'll be at. I tried a couple of times but missed them. When my friend and I did get a chance to eat, we ordered the Oyster poboy sandwich. Taste wise, it was pretty good for what it was. The sandwich cost about $16-$17 each, which was a bit pricey for the medium size. The oysters were small but fresh, with a light breading that made the fry delicate. As I reflect, the breading was a little chalky (not necessarily in a good or bad way). It made it a little dry but maybe that's what it was going for considering oysters can be messy to fry. The flavor of the sandwich was pretty subtle but I did really appreciate good that the oyster wasn't overtly seasoned where I couldn't recognize it for what it was. However, I'm not sure if I would specifically seek or crave the oyster poboy from Where Ya At Matt again, but I wouldn't mind trying some of their other offerings, specifically their shrimp poboys or shrimp & grits.

Another stellar meal from Where Ya At Matt! I tried the fried chicken po boy and really liked it! Enjoyed how the chicken was moist and the flavors complimented each other. Think I found a good combination with the shrimp and gritz with the jambalaya (have to give props to my Dad for that idea). Decided to try a slice of pecan pie (brown sugar was a nice addition) and the king cake was nice, not too sugary but light and airy. Great work Matt, I'll be coming back to try more of your delicious food!

Happy to be supporting a black owned business! I've heard a lot of good things about "Where Ya at Matt" via a FB group that supports minority owned businesses. I was happy that their food truck chose a location near us. The food overall is very good. The prices aren't bad; they aren't cheap but not bad either considering how much protein are in the sandwiches. Ingredient prices have gone up everywhere after all. Ordering was easy; we just ordered in person. There is an option to pre-order too. They had a 3 hours window, 11am to 2pm. We arrived at 1pm, and nothing was sold out yet. Woo hoo. We ordered extra to make this a "meal of the day". The Food: Shrimp Po Boy, $13 - 5 Stars Cornmeal Breaded. Fried. Lettuce. Tomato. Pickles. Mayo - Generously loaded with golden shrimp that are perfectly fried, this sandwich with some veggies made for hearty standalone meal. I separately added hot sauce to give it a kick. Smoked Portabella Po Boy, $12 - 5+ Stars Smoked portobello mushrooms. Lettuce. Tomato. Pickles. Mayo - Apparently, smoked means Cajun blackened, this sandwich was AMAZING! Delicious chunky bites of mushrooms that are perfectly juicy. It went really well with the tang of the pickles so each bite was juicy delicious. Oyster Po Boy, $14 - 5 Stars Cornmeal breaded and fried. Also has veggies. - Oyster Po Boys are hubby's favorite sandwich, and this one was excellent. It's basically the same as the shrimp in terms of preparation. The oysters were juicy and plump, the golden frying was light and not greasy at all. Beignets, $5 - 4.5 Stars We didn't get to eat it right away, so things "settle" a bit by the time we had our first bite. Doesn't matter though, it was still "holey" and pillowy. Sure, not as good as in NOLA, but come one, it's pretty dang close. Cole Slaw, $3 - 3.5 Stars We were faking being 'healthier' and ordered cole slaw. This version is more on the vinegar-y side, which we're not a fan of. No big deal. We'll skip this next time. Cornbread with Honey Butter, $3 - 2 Stars I was not expecting to see a little cupcake looking thing with a little butter thing on the side. LOL. I probably should have looked for photos. It was 'fine', like a C. It needed more height for a proper fluffy cornbread that raises in the middle with that golden brown at the bottom. That's not what this is. Doh. We'll skip this next time too.

    Beignets

Picked up at cat fish po'boy and some beignets at Where Ya At Matt and everything was SO good. The catfish was flavorful, crisp and served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and just the right amount of mayo on a tasty roll. Nice size too. Definitely one of the best po'boys I've eaten, including my fav spots in New Orleans. The beignets were delicious too. Hubs picked up the jambalaya which was also good Service was quick, friendly and Covid safe.

Shrimp po boy. Slice of king cake. Today's Twelfth Night. Chuck's Hop Shop just a mile away. Friday night's standard scheduled stop for the truck. My Lord, am I so happy. A bit of home in this lonely pnw town.

THE SHORT OF IT: - Absolutely exceptional ambiance, food,…read moreand service. I can't wait to go back! Service was quick, attentive, and everything arrived in a very timely manner given how busy they were on a Saturday evening. The menu truly has something for everyone and the wine list is exceptional. We also had a birthday at the table and still felt special and well-attended despite every table being full. THE INSIDE: - The stained glass windows and hanging lights give such a warm, cozy, yet upscale vibe. - There are many tables and booths. - Handicapped accommodations can be made, but I'd ask in advance, as some areas are tougher to navigate than others. THE FOOD WE TRIED: - Pasta dish: Garlic Fennel Sausage, Oyster Mushrooms, and Snap Peas with Creczenza, White Truffle Oil, and Tagliarini balsamic, red and green basil, parsley, grana padano. Absolutely stunning. I could not finish it, so I'd suggest splitting it with someone else if you can't take it to go. It was so ridiculously flavorful and fresh. I want to eat this 11 more times. - Scallops dish: Sea Scallops Seared in Cast Iron with Oyster Mushrooms and Yellow Corn Risotto asparagus pistou, red basil, white truffle oil, crescenza, fine herbes. Presentation was gorgeous and scallops were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The corn risotto underneath would honestly be just as good on its own. - Steak dish: Snake River Farms Wagyu Baseball Cut Sirloin 9 oz. The savory compound butter on top was the perfect amount, and the two sauces on the side (chimichurri and a brown one I wish I could name, it's in the pictures) were so good I could have eaten them by a spoon. Steak was cooked to an ideal medium rare with a perfect sear. This was the star of the table, even with everything else being SO GOOD. -Seafood: Big Easy Jambalaya, deep creole flavors, unapologetically spicy wild gulf prawns, chicken, house made andouille, tasso. The person who ordered this said it reminded them of straight New Orleans fare, so I trust their experience! Properly savory and chock full of flavor. SIDE NOTES: - Someone at our table had a seafood allergy and had no issues despite the vast amount of seafood on the menu and around us. - Reservation system is quick and easy. It feels a tiny bit cramped to move around outside of your seated area, but once you're seated, you absolutely won't care given how delicious everything is! - We ate here before attending an opera and had a cozy corner booth reserved months in advance, so that may have improved the experience a bit. :)

We came about 30 mins early for reservation and the host was able to accommodate our early arrival. The restaurant is nice inside and has a unique vibe. When our waitress arrived, I informed her it was my birthday and overall her energy was just dry throughout our service. Not that I was expecting her to give me a cake but a smile would have went a long way. I ordered one of their margaritas and it was meh, overall I just didn't have a good cocktail anywhere we dined in Seattle. I ordered one of their king salmon dishes that was "creole style" but severely lacked seasoning. My boo ordered the steak, which also lacked salt and was served with boxed mash potatoes, which they should be ashamed for at this price point. I also had 4 oysters as an appetizer and they were so small! I was expecting more from the seafood as it seems to be what Seattle is known for. They oysters were fresh, but $22 for four tiny oysters is offensive. This experience may have gotten another star if the service was better but this is place I'd just skip.

We planned to order separately, but once we saw that my meal was going to be close to $100, decided to share. It was enough food for two people, but definitely check market prices before you get excited because some seafood are $40+ per lb. The experience itself was fun! We loved getting to make a mess. There was no direction on where to put shrimp tails and other trash and we felt bad putting them on the table, so this was a little funky. The food was great! We left full and happy.

We opted for the combo 3 with atomic sauce. The mild is pretty spicy and medium is spicy ! On a personal note- I found the sauce to be a bit too much on garlic and that the meat wasn't flavored (which makes me think what was the whole point of the bag). We really enjoyed the crab and I think I liked the sausages more . Also tried the beef short ribs which was a good quantity and shareable for two and comes with rice and salad. Ambiance is not bad. You have to place your order at the table, pay first and then the order will be brought to your table.

Also ordered the sweet & sour chicken with fried rice and it was legit delicious. No complaints, just solid comfort food done right. Service was great -- shoutout to Kacey for taking care of us (and hooking it up with to-go cups for our sodas, which was a nice touch). The vibe was chill too -- clean space, relaxing piano music in the background, nothing chaotic. Even the fortune cookie was good, which honestly feels rare these days. The guy next to us ordered the garlic lobster and I'm still thinking about it... looked . Just don't order the coleslaw, its not your traditional coleslaw but instead lettuce with creamy sauce. We drove 35 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to get here and yeah -- I'd do it again.

I think we were the only customers there. We ordered a seafood boil, salt and pepper frog legs and a lunch combo of chow mein and beef. The portion of these are really good for the price. The seafood boil was plump and juicy. I did wish it was more flavorful though. The frog legs was really good though. Love how it was juicy and the texture. The chowmein had a really good wok flavor! Service is good too. Overall definitely will be back again, hopefully they get more business!
