Great little tasting room on the second floor of a beautiful historic home. Staff was super friendly and helpful!

My Leading Expressions flight. Just $10!

You don't have to be already be a WhistlePig fan to get your time's worth out of this classy, picturesquely situated, inviting tasting room. If you're already a WhistlePig fan it's a must-do. Unbelievably, there were no barrel selects or named bottles (like Boss Hog) available to sample, but the hostess more than made up for it by giving out an off-menu Irish whiskey (gratis) and the not-even-two-week-old Piggyback bourbon (with the $10 - only $10! - tasting flight). I felt really taken care of - she was enthused, talkative, and knowledgeable, ensuring that the people in the tasting room, who ranged from experienced to novice whiskey drinkers, were brought along the tasting journey. For merch, they had manually blown double old fashioned glasses, whiskey tasting glasses, and tiny snifters for those who like it neat, like me. The barrel-aged maple syrup was, stunningly, out of stock, making me grateful I had picked up a bottle in nearby Woodstock. There is a 1 oz state limit on how much they can serve you during any individual visit, so I guess I'll have to go a second time to try the more aged stuff. There was plenty of water on hand, and thoughtfully they offered each flight neat or on the rocks.

Very cute whisky lounge located next to the glass blowing studio. The staff was very nice and my friend enjoyed the whisky flight!

Great place for a whiskey flight. Cozy spot with limited seating. A nice stop after visiting the gorge.

Very cozy tasting room with tasteful decor, located on the second floor of an told-timey house. Have the option of single pours or different flights. Opted for the more 'premium' flight of 12/15/18 yr which was delicious. The Boss Hog VII is also available as a single pour. Is a relatively quick but enjoyable experience. The worker(associate?) is a former teacher and awesome. FYI this is the only tasting room that is currently open despite another location listed on the website.

SO worth a visit and tasting!!!

WOOHOOO!!!! Just visited the Quechee place last night and YEOW!! I had the Piggyback bourbon (LOVE the name right?!) and I'm rating this as a non-drinker (seriously). We talked, then Meg recommended that bourbon and some good advice - wait for the third sip. Actually, the first few sips were nice too. It's a really sweet warming experience. I'd do it again (!). My lovely man had the 12 year old world rye (also recommended by Meg). He said it had a full bouquet and a great after-taste (he'd had ryes before). He was psyched too. You know, the atmosphere for tasting these was really nice - very warm. Fun thing to do really, check these out in that inviting environment. Definitely worth doing. So YEAH! VERY RECOMMENDED!!

This place was alot of fun. The lady who served us did a fantastic job even getting our girls some maple syrup drinks. Enjoyed all the different of drinks we were able to try. The place was decorated really nice and I liked all the stuff the had on the walls. Will definitely be getting more whistlepig whiskey once we finished the bottles we got while there.

This is a great little spot to relax and sip some great whiskey. It's a really small 2 room place on the second floor of an old building. It's really cute and cozy. One thing to note is that due to Vermont liquor laws you can only get 1oz per visit. Therefore, each flight has 3 tasters adding up to 1oz. There were 3 of us, so we each ordered a different flight and shared them. It was perfect. I highly recommend visiting.

Very nice tasting room, nice selection on whiskey exclusively in Vermont. The place is located in a very nice small town of Vermont. Thank you Meg for your great service, love everything you did for us!

Remember this is a Whiskey tasting room not a brewery or winery! They charge and they limit to one ounce per person. Totally fine with me! $25 for an ounce of Boss Hog, tell me where else you'll find that?!? The tasting room is super cute and you can buy bottles of all recent'ish production, including the 12 year old Tokaji that is only available there. They also have curated flights that are a great way to taste their offerings.

Stopped in for a tasting. Beautifully located next to the river. They have several tastings/bottles that are exclusive to the tasting room, so definitely worth a visit. Meg was so much fun, knowledgeable, and she helped us decide what to taste. Really neat spot!!

The Old World Rye was the best!

So I was in VT for Christmas and my Brother-in-law booked us a tasting. We arrived for our 6 PM, 12.23.21, reservation and found a very intimate, 2 room setup. We were met by Meg, who would be our guide for our stay, and found a couple of comfortable seats at a hightop table. Meg walked us through all of our options and gave us plenty of time to make our selections. For the record, you get 1 oz for your entire visit which makes it EXTREMELY hard to choose. We ended up coming back the next day as one visit simply isn't enough. We're already planning our next trip, as this was a one of a kind experience! BTW, Meg made the experience all that much more memorable with her awesome hospitality, and great insight!

    Enjoying the tasting room!

Very good rye whiskey. Tasting room usually has bottles only available there due to limited supply. If you like rye, this is worth visiting.

This was a lot of fun and of course the whiskey is outstanding. Only downside is that you can only have 1 ounce per person per visit.

This place has well over 1000 reviews and most of them are positive for a reason! Pro Pig checks…read moreso many boxes and is a must try for anyone in the area. It gets busy and they don't take reservations. They do have an online waitlist but we went around 4:30 and didn't have to utilize it. Our party of 6 climbed camel's hump earlier in the day and showed up famished. We knew this was the right pig out spot for us to refuel from the moment we walked in, smelled the food and saw the amazing ceiling-high bar. The smoked meats were outstanding. High quality cuts smoked to perfection. We had an order of every meat they offer and they were all just as good. That being said, I could go back just for the cornbread w maple butter. My word, it was like eating cake for dinner. The Mac & cheese was ooey and gooey with a nice crispy top. And the cookie skillet was like a party in your mouth. We didn't think we'd be able to finish everything but there wasn't a crumb to be found when we were done. As far as service goes, it was as good as I've ever had at a place like this. Our server was laid back yet always on top of things. We never waited for anything and her timing was perfect. There's outdoor seating if that's your jam. We sat in the large table by the window and got to look out on main st. It couldn't have been more perfect.

I was a little hesitant coming here because great food is just as important to me as great drinks,…read moreand the menu was very limited. The menu listed only two mains: a "Charred Oat Burger" and a "Short Rib Toastie" in addition to two salads and four "shareables". I believe there were one or two specials that day as well, one being Steak Frites. But the food reviews were good and the drink reviews were great so I decided to go. Even if I had second thoughts the welcome from Bob the bartender when I entered (first customer when I arrived at 5:00 opening time) seemed so sincere that not staying was out of the question. I took my seat at the bar (supposedly rebuilt with materials from a bar in Ireland that closed). Bob was great, with an enthusiasm for great whiskey that he couldn't hide if he tried, and didn't seem to mind that I'm not enough of a connoisseur to have many opinions of my own. Between other customers that soon filled the place he kept me talking and I'm not much of a talker. About whiskey, where I'm from, Burlington in general, and he gave me some tips on some lesser-known Vermont attractions I didn't know about. Their whiskey collection was large and from many lands. Having just returned from Ireland I was pleased to see several I remember from my visit - not just the usual Jamesons here! I prefer a cocktail to straight whiskey though, so it was Sazeracs tonight. Two specialties. First the Rosemary's Sazerac: Bulleit Rye, rosemary syrup, Peychauds bitters, rinse of Laphroaig, torched rosemary sprig. My second was also a Sazerac: their Irish Sazerac, made with an Irish whiskey and other ingredients which I've forgotten. Both drinks were fantastic, generous with the alcohol, and made with attention to details like properly-sized ice cubes (large) and pre-chilled glasses. For food I got the "Charred Oak Burger." I don't know where the "oak" comes in. The only burger on the menu, it was made with two thin patties, a great quantity of whiskey & honey-glazed pork belly in large pieces, kimchi mayo, and a brioche bun. One of the most interesting burgers I've had in a long time. Even though it was a bit overstuffed more due to the pork belly than the patties I managed to eat it without it falling apart, a common problem with burgers. Instead of the fries it came with I elected to get the roasted Brussels sprouts instead, a special shareable of the day. I don't think I was charged extra even though it was a rather large portion. These were excellent too, sweet and bacony with no bitterness. As it got busier the noise level increased but only moderately. I liked the music playing, a mix of blues and energetic classic rock. Overhearing other conversations I could tell that these were discerning customers who took their whiskey seriously and asked detailed questions before settling on their choice of libation. Just two things on the dessert menu: Chocolate Overload and Caramel Sea Salt Cheesecake. I got the Overload: chocolate cake with Bailey's Irish Cream sauce. Nothing special but I enjoyed it; a nice way to finish the meal. It was big enough that I took about half home, along with half the Brussels sprouts. This is definitely a place I want to come back to. I wish the food menu was more extensive but that burger and sprouts were so good I could see repeating the same menu again, trying new specialty cocktails next time.
