My husband and I stayed here for one night during a weekend road trip from San Diego to Hearst Castle. The White Water Inn was so cute and cozy. The room had a fireplace and the Inn is directly across the street from the water. They bring a continental breakfast to the room, which was filling and delicious. They offered free movies because the rooms have a DVD player. I would love to stay here again and highly recommend it! read more

Love, Love, Love. My wife and I stayed in room 2, one of the two rooms available with a beautiful, uninterrupted ocean view from both the sitting room and outside Jacuzzi (room 1 is the other one). Loved the Jacuzzi, which was located on our own private deck. Loved the view of the ocean, which was just across a narrow street from us and uninterrupted by trees (we watched a whale go by in the morning as we sipped our coffee!). Loved the quaint room with its white "beach cottage" décor, and the fact that two sets of pillows were available (one firm and the other soft). Loved the basket of fresh baked goods in the morning delivered to us (at the time we requested) on a tray with a pot of coffee and fruit (tea or hot chocolate are also available). Loved the gas fire place and the quiet. Loved the friendly, joyfully, attentive staff who checked us in, and came and wiped the dew off our deck's rocking chairs in the morning so we could sit out there if we wanted to. Loved the sound of the ocean waves and the cool ocean breeze. Some notes for you... if you are looking for ALL the modern amenities (like microwave, coffee maker, and air conditioning) you will not find it here. You will find a 2 cubic foot refrigerator with a tiny freezer tray, a flat screen TV on the wall (which I never felt the need to turned on), a hair drier, a full complement of toiletries, thirsty towels, comfy bath robes, an ironing board and iron (does anyone still use those?), a powerful electric floor fan, and heat from both a wall heater and the fire place (which is what we used to heat the room in the morning to very good effect). If you want cool air, you only need to open the doors and windows to let the cool ocean breeze in (amazingly few bugs here!). Want wine glasses? Just ask the front desk! Also, while the two person Jacuzzi is reserved just for you, and is only accessible from your deck, you are indeed in full public view, as that is the only way to have the full ocean view that is the major amenity of the front cottages. This fact did not bother us at all as few people drive or walk by at night, and we wore our bathing suits during the day! ;-) One reviewer felt the furniture was "dated". HELLO! BEACH COTTAGE! The whole place is dated!! That is its charm. I would not be surprised if the place was built a 100 years ago. The key is that it was WELL built, with sturdy walls, great insulation (no noise from neighbors or the road in front), and careful attention to architectural detail both inside and out. Our cottage had a king size bed with a medium-firm mattress (no divots), a comfy couch and side chair, and lots of table surfaces (although no actual "desk", which I was actually happy with as they always remind me of work). In short, the White Water Inn provides an utterly charming and friendly cottage environment, near a very quaint town, with the Pacific Ocean and a lovely boardwalk just 100 feet away. It is also pet friendly. You would be hard pressed to find that combination anywhere else. Be sure to bring binoculars for whale watching!! read more

The young, front desk receptionist was NOT hospitable at all. All requests were handed with curt, matter of fact responses. When we asked about the movie feature and free popcorn that is advertised on the TV paper guide in the room, we were told they "no longer have that feature." It's nigh on impossible to find anything less than quintessential about the White Water Inn. In the hospitality industry, it is more than usually true that those who are the face of the business make it or break it. We walked into the office of this quaint little inn and were immediately won over by Mark. So friendly, helpful, and totally focused on our having a great time...made our dinner reservations, gave us popcorn for the movies (a large selection of dvds in the office). He met our every need in a way that really made us feel the Inn wouldn't survive our not being happy! Mark and the crew could maintain a stellar occupancy rate if the Inn were in Antarctica. I give this inn three stars because of what you get for the price. The inn was clean, nice and had a good location but really looks like a motel. When you pay $370 a night for the ocean view room, I think I expected a little bit more. The room itself was quaint -VERY standard in terms if furnishings , standard bathroom that I really feel they need to update to make the room feel more worth it,but the room had a great view of the ocean. The staff were very friendly, they lend DVDs, and make fresh cookies. The outdoor tub that was one of the reasons I booked the room was super small and not at all private ( at the front entrance to the inn) so I didn't feel comfortable going inside. Because of price for what I feel we got, I probably wouldn't come back to this place. That being said it seems like a lot of the motels around were very similar appearing, and were likely similarly priced. read more

Very chill place great time relaxing enjoying the view....

White Water Inn felt like our home away from home. It was so nice and all the staff was super friendly and accommodating. The inn sits directly across from the beach and boardwalk which is absolutely amazing and a walk all along the coast on the boardwalk is a must do while in Cambria. At night, we grabbed a nice bottle of wine, given to us by the inn from the moonstone wine cellars (which is also local) and snuggled up with the fire going and watched movies provided by the inn. This place is amazing and we will be back for sure! read more

Mark, Alex, and the rest of the staff at the White Water Inn always exceed our expectations. Since stopping by there on a whim several years ago, we've returned two or three times a year for the past several years. The rooms are small but very tidy and many include a Jacuzzi tub built for two. The warm muffins and bagels delivered to your door every morning with a hot pot of coffee really make you feel spoiled. And Moonstone Beach provides hours of quiet entertainment and endless beauty. My only hesitation in posting a rave review is that they'll get so busy they won't have room for us - but something this priceless must be shared. Enjoy! read more

Stayed in Cambria as we travelled up the coast from Newport to Napa. Cute little town and cute place to stay. It's a 10 mins drive to Hearst castle. The guy that checked us in was very friendly. The rooms are simple but nicely decorated. The bed and sheets were the most comfortable (5 stars). Breakfast is brought to your room but it's just coffee/OJ/pastries..... Nothing special but appreciated. Love it that its right across the ocean. The morning jog was perfect. Lastly, they clean your car windows. It's a nice touch. Not sure if I would stay in this hotel (or Cambria) because the town is too boring for me. If you are looking for peace and a quiet simple stay by the water then this is the place for you. read more

The White Water Inn experience was one of the best one I've ever had. I was staying there last Monday, February, 10, 2014. Mark greeted us very friendly, had told us about the city, recommended places for a dinner, showed on the map all nearby attractions. We had a pleasant 5 min walk by the beach to The Moonstone Bar and Grill and enjoyed a perfect dinner with very good service, quality meal, and local Castoro Cellars Zinfandel. After the dinner, which was pretty late, we did not want to keep restaurant employees too long, Mark have provided us with the hot water for a tea at our room by the cozy fireplace. Early breakfast in the room allowed us to be in time for 9:20 Hearst castle tour. Four of us appreciate much what Mark did for us and thanks to The White Water Inn for a pleasant stay. read more

Of course we had a perfect weather weekend, but either way we had everything we needed. Gas fireplace to keep warm; standing fan to keep cool; great shades for keeping it dark; lovely in room breakfast-nothing fancy but very filling and nutritious; very comfy beds and pillows and plenty of blankets; car windows washed daily; quiet; literally across the street from the boardwalk and the ocean. Saw whales, dolphins, sea lions/seals and gulls of course! Highly recommend it. Got a good deal on Groupon too. read more

After trying several other options on Moonstone Drive the White Water Inn has become our favorite. The rooms are clean and well-appointed, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast superb and the location couldn't be better. We love being at the north end of Moonstone Drive. There is less traffic and in/out access is extremely quick. That, coupled with the proximity to the beach, make it a perfect location. We've stayed at the White Water Inn at least 3 times and will definitely be returning. read more

Moving from the Big Island of Hawaii about a month ago and my husband and I having our first get-away from Huntington Beach, we decided to drive to Cambria which was highly recommended by a friend as a nice scenic drive. We found the White Water Inn in Google Search and because of its reviews, decided to book our overnight. We were so impressed by the room we had and it was located across the road from the ocean! Clean and inviting, the room had all the creature comforts (spa tub, fireplace, robes, nice king size bed, etc. Breakfast delivered to your door at the time you want was the topping of a great and short stay....wish we could've stayed another night or two, but next time! Second time staying at the White Water Inn for a trip up the California Coast. I love Cambria and staying on Moonstone Beach. We come as much as our busy schedules will allow! We liked it a lot the first time we stayed, but it was out of our budget the next time we stayed. Well, we saved up to stay here again this time because it was so much nicer of an experience than the other hotel we stayed at last time. The breakfast in the morning is delicious and warm. The staff are super helpful and friendly with great suggestions for places to go around the hotel. I'm shocked to read even a single bad post. Our coffee and pastries arrived at the exact minute requested each day. Cookies in the office were a great extra touch. We DID NOT come to the WWInn though for the coffee and small morning eats. We came there because the Inn is immaculate featuring a fireplace and our own CLEAN jacuzzi facing the ocean just outside of our large room, inside sitting area and fabulous private deck.... All for an affordable price that blows the others away! WORTH EVERY PENNY AND BEYOND!! Btw, thank you Mark at the front reception area! What a great personality. Awesome place! We are total snobs and soooo hard to please... But we both LOVED the White Water Inn!!!!! Can't say that enough... We loved it! We stayed for 2 days last week JUNE 17-19 in suite 2 with the jacuzzi... We ate a FANTASTIC dinner at Madeline's Restaurant... Finished il up by 7:45p & in plenty of time to open a bottle of wine, got comfortable in our (very clean) hot tub outside the room that faced the ocean & watched the sunset... Was a great suggestion from Mark. Cambria is loaded with cute shops and pretty good restaurants. We tried 3 of em but liked Madeline's the best. Fun wine bar there too. Get the coupon from Madeline's website for 1/2 off some of the wines if you order dinner there. The room was large & immaculate. Breakfast on our ocean-facing deck was a delightful was to enjoy fresh morning coffee and tasty pastries. We look to staying agin next year and every year thereafter :) read more

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. We enjoyed ourselves. The room wasn't as fancy or elegant as we'd hoped but it was clean and well maintained. The view was great and we liked the continental breakfast brought to the room in the morning. Service was good, they gave us some good suggestions on where to eat and even offered to make reservations for us. There are guest books in the rooms where you can read about the experiences of the guests who stayed there before you and leave your own words of wisdom. We'd likely stay there again. read more

The location is excellent--right across from the beach. Every interaction with all the staff was always kind and professional. I purchased a Living Social deal, and had called and few times to check on the details; the staff was very accomodating. The deal had a few little perks, which the Inn probably offers with their regular packages: continental breakfast in bed, bottle of wine, 2 wineglasses to keep, fresh baked cookies, free wine tasting vouchers to local wineries. The room was comfortable and cozy, but the decor was a little antiquated. The decor isn't a dealbreaker by any means, but I would say that if you're looking for a large hotel feel/experience, this quaint inn wouldn't be for you. That said, we felt the humble, friendliness of the establishment added to the charm. The location really can't be beat, and we very much enjoyed our stay. read more

We came here for a family vacation. The drive was beautiful and once we got here we were very pleased with the place. We were right in front of the beach. Outstanding service from the moment we walked into the office. Was given our lovely bottle of wine and wine glasses (which were given to us to keep), offered delicious cookies and made to feel like family. Huge DVD selection which is loaned out on honor basis and a map with all the shops and dinning places. Also given an envelope which contained a coupon to Madeline's, 20% discount on next stay at whitewater Inn and other info. The wifi in our room worked perfectly. Breakfast was delivered every morning to us by 8:15 and it was fresh and delicious. Assorted breads, fruit , coffee and orange juice. The morning after we checked in, we were pleastnly surprised to see that our car window had been cleaned. Ahhhh, soooo nice. Car windows are cleaned every morning before you head out. Amazing time, we relaxed, walked through Cambria, wine tasted, watched the sunset every night and most importantly we enjoyed our time together in the quant town Cambria. If your looking for a romantic, lay back, beautiful place to be with the one you love, this is the place. Next time we will stay in room #2. It has the best unobstructed view. Both #1 & #2 have hot tubs facing the water and a nice sitting area to watch to the sunset set from. read more

The location of this cute little cottage was almost perfect. I wish it would have been closer to town as we like walking in for dinner, but it was fine. The cottage itself was newly renovated and up to date. We didn't use the fireplace as it was warm, but it was a nice touch. It was directly across from the ocean path, which was nice during sunset. I've stayed several places in Cambria, but White Water is my favorite. The rooms are immaculate, the beds super comfortable, and the room has everything you need for an easy stay: a small fridge, coffee maker, bedside table outlets for your phone, wine glasses, etc. The morning breakfast brought to the room is a really nice touch. My daughter, granddaughter and I stayed here last week for Spring Break for two nights while visiting Hearst Castle and San Luis Obisbo. What a delightful place with great staff. We called the manager when we realized we would be arriving very late because of the LA traffic. He was kind enough to wait for us and had fresh baked cookies on our arrival. We had a lovely two queen cottage which was perfect for the 3 of us. We did notice they have two front cottages with Jacuzzi's but found out they only have 1 king bed...maybe on our next visit! The continental breakfast the next morning was fabulous...probably the best continental I've ever had. The muffin basket had a great variety including danishes, croissants and bagels with toppings and it was warm!!! They also provided fresh squeezed oj, coffee, tea, whole fruits (to take with us for the day) and hard boiled eggs! What a treat! When we were ready to leave for the day we had another great surprise...their staff cleaned all the windows on our car so we didn't have that dewy mess the evening fog leaves on the car. All in all I would stay here again and strongly recommend it to anyone visiting the Cambria area. read more

What really impressed us were the little things, like DVDs to check out at no cost and someone actually washed the windows of all the cars in the parking lot in the morning! Really nice people. We got a room 5 with a spa tub and a gas fireplace. Tiny partial ocean view from a front side window. The room was simple and cute. We arrived just before the office closed at 9pm, after calling them first to let them know of our late arrival and everything was ready for us when we got there. We used the tub and slept well. Then after we took a walk on the beach across the street, they brought us a nice Continental breakfast with good coffee. Someone cleaned the windows of our car and we left. The staff at the desk were so cheerful and nice--they made us feel welcome and happy to be there. We would definitely stay here again. read more

We fell in love with White Water Inn from the moment we arrived! Everything about it was wonderful - the friendly staff, our room with the whirlpool tub (robes included), comfortable bed, fireplace, ocean view, breakfast brought to our room each morning, free DVDs to watch, and fresh baked cookies in the office! My parents gave us the deal from Living Social (2 nights) for Christmas. We loved it so much we ended up extending our stay one more night - and we got a great deal on the extra night, too. If you are traveling 3+ hours to get here, plan on staying 3 nights so you have enough time to relax and see everything you want to see nearby. However, even if you can only stay for one night, this place is definitely worth it! We are definitely planning on returning - just need to find the time! read more

First of all, Cambria is an absolutely stunning retreat on the ocean with amazing views and relaxing quaintness that makes it a perfect location. Beyond having the advantage of being in a great location, the Whitewater Inn compliments the area with its friendliness. We were checked in by Alex who helped us get oriented with the area and made some good recommendations for dinner which we followed and we're not disappointed. The rooms are spacious and warm and are divided in a way that makes it feel like you are in your own cottage. We had a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub in addition. They bring breakfast to your room every morning that consists of fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and pastries. In the afternoon they offer fresh baked cookies that are delicious! It's a wonderful Inn in a wonderful place and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Beautiful from top to bottom!! We stayed Ina king size jacuzzi suite. The room was beautifully decorated, homey, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area. Quick check in, and they even included some sites and eateries in the area. We loved it all. After dinner, you can stroll on the beach front paths, and watch the sunset.
