Our stay was amazing. Mark (the manager) was so very kind and helpful. He was great at recommending restaurants in the area. We were a stones throw from the ocean and walked just across the street to watch the sunset. All of the staff were very helpful. The breakfast in the room was a nice added touch and we woke up in the morning to a cleaned car windshield, what a nice surprise. One evening we perused the large selection of movies to watch in the room and Mark provided is with a large container of complimentary freshly popped popcorn. Great place to stay. read more

The White Water Inn is lovely. Rooms are bright and cheery. There is a gas fireplace in the room. A continental breakfast is served in your room, which was very good and quite adequate. Staff is friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to choosing a restaurant....there are many. I would definitely recommend this Inn as a place to stay if you are going to be visiting Cambria. Had a fantastic delightful weekend getaway here. The room was comfortable and spotless, with a lovely fireplace. The location couldn't be better - I crossed the deserted street to sit on the boardwalk and watch the sunset. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at White Water Inn. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was pristine and inviting. If you leave the windows open the sound of the ocean will lull you to sleep. The location is more than ideal. The complimentary breakfast was delightful. Directly across the street is Moonstone Beach and it's Boardwalk where you'll find beach access. Down the street is Cambria's little downtown filled with restaurants, wine tasting bars and even a brewery. Up the road about 10 mins is Hearst Castle, an amazing experience. You might even see Zebras! If I ever come back to Cambria I know where I will be staying for sure. read more

Five Star Service Last weekend my daughter got married in Cambria, and we used the White Water as part of our base of operations. The last time I reviewed this inn, we were on a scouting expedition to decide where relatives and wedding party would be staying, and the innkeeper Mark was extremely helpful. He and the innkeeper of the B&B next door, (the 9 Iron), often work together for events larger than one inn's worth of rooms, and they make a great team. All the members of the wedding party, including the bride and groom, stayed at the White Water, and everyone loved their rooms, the location, and the continental breakfast. Some of the rooms had two queen beds, so we could put more than one bridesmaid per room, saving some money. Other rooms, of course, were more suitable for couples. There are two suites, both with fantastic views from the picture window, one used by the parents of the groom, and the other by the newlyweds. These functioned as centers of operation for wedding preparations and lunch location for the male members of the wedding party on the day of the wedding, which was in the afternoon. The day after the wedding we held a picnic (for seventy guests!) in Leffingwell Landing park across the street, which Mark had helped us scout out on our first trip. This time around he offered all the ice in his ice machine for our many, many coolers of beverages for the picnic. Very kind of him! Suffice it to say, I recommend the White Water unreservedly, both for any individual visit, and for any life event. read more

Great accommodations, dog friendly (big plus) yummy breakfast and a patio with jacuzzi! What's not to love. The WWI is our absolute favorite place to stay in all the world when we're not at home. The staff is amazing and the owners are just one of a kind. We had our wedding July 16th, 2011 across from WWI on the board walk and they accommodated all of our wedding guests and made it a simply magical experience. We've stayed at WWI like 6 times over the last 3-4 yrs and it's always a treat to look forward to after the stresses of day to day life in LA. HIGHLY recommended you wont find a better place to enjoy the beauty that is Cambria. Oh and the staff even washes your windows! The complementary cookies are great too :) read more

Reviewed August 21, 2011 I made reservations at White Water Inn the first part of August after looking at all of the motels along the Moonstone Beach strip. This was the best one for the rate and the staff was great. The continental breakfast of fruit and muffins was great and enough to eat. The room was delightful, décor was most pleasant, bed was comfortable, and the Jacuzzi tub was wonderful. I could not have picked a better place. The proprietors were just great and so warm and welcoming. I celebrated my 65th birthday at White Water Inn and it was the best birthday ever. Everything was just perfect. We drove down from the SF Bay Area to stay in Cambria, a place that neither of us had ever been, just to get away. It was the most perfect romantic weekend getaway and I fell in love with everything. The location is right by Moonstone Beach, and we visited it both during the daytime and at night (both beautiful). The staff was so helpful and pleasant, especially Mark, and the fresh baked cookies and popcorn/movie options were great. Mark gave us a map and covered it with circles to show us all of the places we should visit in town, and provided us with plenty of details on where to find the sea lions, wine tasting, and places to go eat. The cottages are so sweet and they delivered continental breakfast to us in the morning. It was clean and inviting, and was just the right size for the two of us. The fireplace was romantic and made the nights all the more enjoyable as the weather outside grew chilly. We loved the Whirlpool hot tub and purchased two engraved glasses to drink wine and remember this amazing place. As a nice touch, there is a journal/guestbook in each room and we both wrote a little something in there. It made me feel like we were truly special guests, and not just customers passing through. I loved this trip and can't think of anything that would have made it better. I'll always have wonderful memories of Cambria...thank you so much for making our stay so special. read more

We stayed there last week with our 13 year old Pointer. We made our reservations through an online service and not directly. This was a mistake on our part. The online service did not pass on that we had a dog. White Water was very accommodating, even though they could have said "no". We will be back, stay longer, and make our reservation directly through them. The room was great, the service was great, and the view was beyond great. read more

The White Water Inn is an outstanding place to stay !! We had two rooms and brought our two dogs and everyone on the staff was so accommodating and friendly !! I also must add that the rooms are very, very clean and the breakfast so yummy first thing in the morning. Mark, the Innkeeper was so kind and very knowledgeable about where to dine and shop in town. He also gave us places where we could take our dogs and feel comfortable having them with us. The other thing that we really enjoyed was the location of the Inn. It is farther down on Moonstone drive so that it is not so crowded allowing you to breathe the fresh air and take a leisurely walk on the boardwalk. We had such a wonderful experience, that we booked our next stay before we left and are looking forward to our return visit ! The White Water Inn was an awesome little find off of Highway 1! The rooms are spacious, bright, and impeccably clean. The location is excellent - really easy to get to from the PCH, and literally just across the street from the ocean. You have to walk just a little bit if you want to access a sandy beach, or you can just enjoy the amazing views from the boardwalk (we watched the sunset from one of the benches - just beautiful). It's also a very short drive into 'downtown' Cambria - took us maybe 6 minutes to get to the restaurant where we had dinner. Moonstone Beach Drive is also very quaint, as it is mostly a series of smaller, non-chain hotels. We spoke with Alex in the Inn's front office, and he set the tone for our short stay right away, as he was super friendly and helpful. The office also offers DVDs that you can borrow for the night and a little library of sorts, which we definitely would have taken advantage of had we been staying a little longer. The fact that they bring a nice little breakfast (pastries, fruit, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee) right to your room in the morning was really convenient (and tasty!), and the woman who delivered it was also really friendly. And while we were eating, we saw a couple of women cleaning off guests' car windows - a totally unnecessary but all the same very appreciated service that just goes to show you the level of thoughtfulness and care these folks put in to their business and making guests feel comfortable. Bottom line, we loved this place and are already looking for an excuse to come back! read more

We arrived at about 4:39. We were told we were going to be in their recently purchased property next door. We were given a key and as we got to the room, a housekeeper was just getting to the room to clean it. Check in was at 3. I went to the clerk and told her that the room wasn't ready, I needed to get my baby in the room, as well as myself, and she told me To wait 20-30 minutes. Because we had an infant with us, we waited in our car while they cleaned the room. The room was not impressive. It was spacious and clean.l, however lacked any real perks compared to the other hotels in that area. No fridge, no fireplace, no ocean view, and the wifi did not work in our room. At night, we tried several times to call the front desk, no answer. As we were packing, housekeeping tried to come clean the room ten minutes before check out. All in all, we will be staying at another hotel next time. Since I wrote this review, I was contacted by management who in fact provided us with a refund. I did not ask for this, and never even attempted to contact the management myself. To me, that shows that the management is actively looking at the reviews, and truly cares about customer satisfaction. That speaks volumes. I would like to thank the management of White Water Inn for their attention to detail, and the desire to improve. Because of that I would consider this property in the future. It was so relaxing to step outside our door and see the ocean so close by. The staff were exceptional, from the front desk to the sweet lady who delivered our breakfast to our room. Know what your getting! Having stayed at the White Water Inn MANY years ago, I remember a charming room. Since then we have driven by this cute inn often, so when our anniversary rolled around we thought of this place and booked a room. I booked a king room 5-6 weeks in advance of our stay through booking.com. The booking.com confirmation email clearly states that the room features a fireplace, which we were looking forward to. We checked in roughly around 4:30 and were given a room on a sister property we didn't realize they had. They bought it in 2015. The room was large but older looking with no fireplace and no bay window to better see the ocean like the other rooms next door have. We were disappointed so we went back to the front desk to see if we could get a different room. All rooms were booked and they couldn't move us. My advice if you're booking a room here using a third party is to make sure you know what you're getting. The Inn's webpage advertises a standard king room or the Windrush standard king (which clearly states it has no gas fireplace). After staying here one night and going back to find our confirmation email from the property, we saw that the property did state we had the Windrush king room. Unfortunately for us, we didn't know there was a difference in rooms until it was too late. read more

My husband and two of our dearest friends stayed four days and two nights at this inn just recently. Our rooms were spotless and the beds cozy which made our stay comfortable and pleasant. Our friends have stayed at this inn many times through the years. They commented that they have tried other inns in Monestone, but found this one to be their favorite. The morning breakfast (serve yourself) was good and saved a few dollars on eating out - in particular, got our day off to a good start as we toured during the day,. We go to Cambria for R&R about twice a year, and have tried three places on Moonstone Beach Drive. The White Water Inn is our favorite by far. It's lovely on the outside and very comfortable in the rooms. We always request one of the front mini-suites which have big bay windows with an ocean view and a relaxing hot tub in a private patio. A little pricier than the other rooms, but well worth it. There's plenty of room to spread out and the bed is king size. Everything is scrupulously clean. We especially appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ask Mark anything at all and he'll probably know it, but if he doesn't he'll find out for you. One time when we were there the guy who takes care of the hot tub goofed and emptied and refilled it while were still there. Of course the water was cold. Not only did the owner work to get us hot water, but also he extended our stay by a day without charge because of the inconvenience. Now I call that service! Continental breakfast brought to your room includes fruit, bagels, muffins, tea or coffee, and all the condiments. A great way to start the day. All in all the White Water Inn will not disappoint you. You can be sure that we will return. read more

We had a wonderful time here. We brought our dog, so were in a room reserved for guests with pets. I was pleased and surprised to find that the room smelled as fresh and clean as any other room I've stayed in, with or without pets. We had a very pleasant room with a fabulous view of the ocean--a great place to watch the morning unfold while enjoying our coffee or a really wonderful continental breakfast. We did request and receive a coffee pot the night before, so we were able to start an early morning with coffee before our breakfast arrived. Originally booked the front room overlooking the ocean. Had a hot tub in front. Decided to get the cheaper room with whirlpool bath in the room. We were very happy we did. We stayed in room 7 and it was very clean and the bed and bedding very comfortable. Upon checkin, the lady at the desk was very friendly and took our order for their light but very yummy breakfast in the morning, even included a dog treat for our pet. She gave us recommendations for dinner and there was fresh baked cookies for those who wanted one. Open your curtains and there is a partial view. There are benches outside for enjoying the view. Also the awesome Cambria walkway down by the ocean side is just right across the street. In the morning, we observed the staff cleaning off everyones windshields. A very thoughtful touch. I am torn on what rating to give this place! We really liked how clean it was, and the little breakfast they serve, the fantastic location, and the hot cider and cookies they serve in the afternoons .... but there were definitely some improvements that could be made. The rooms really need some updating, they were probably last redone in the 90s. The rooms are nice, but they all face the center parking lot, except for the 2 large rooms in front. The grounds are also missing some communal sitting areas where you can relax and look at the ocean view. Every room has a little bench out in front, but it's right on the parking lot and has no view whatsoever. They need to have some chairs at the front of the property for guests to use, but sadly the entire front is taken up by 2 large rentals that have little private yards. Which look very nice but I can't even IMAGINE how much they cost! And they allow dogs, but dogs are not allowed to relieve themselves anywhere on the property, so it was somewhat difficult for my large elderly dog to walk all the way out to the public beach walk area to go potty. Overall we liked it, but it seemed pricey for what we got. read more

It's not worth it. Only front suites has ocean view and hot tub. Although when I booked it through Groupon it said our room has a jetted tub but it didn't. Regular rooms don't have ocean views. Water pressure in the shower is horrible. Water gets either very cold or very hot. Overall I didn't like it. Could find a better hotel with a similar rate. read more

My husband, two pups, and 7 month old daughter and I planned a last minute vaca up north to visit the Castle. Pricing online with other hotels were aligned, but when we called the White Water Inn, they offered us a more competitive rate as we were looking to check in the next evening for 3 nights. This hotel is ideal, quiet, and well layed out. Beds are perfect and fluffy with fresh white linens, bathrooms are beautifully appointed and bleachy-clean. No rooms above or below you--so you only have neighbors from side-to-side...both protected by the bathrooms in between--very quiet which I really appreciated since my baby does sometime cry (imagine that), and I would hate to disrupt another visitor. The management was so kind and genuinely wanted us to enjoy all of the fun things this town has to offer. We walked several times a day to the boardwalk and then into downtown to shop and eat some great meals. The castle is a very short drive away, as are the Elephant Seal beach viewing. Quiet, clean, comfortable with nice touches. Loved the thick bathrobes and the fact that TV noise between rooms was buffered by bathroom placement - nice layout decision, we really appreciated the quiet. Breakfast delivered to our room each morning was a nice luxury; coffee was good and strong, I enjoyed the fresh fruit but the pastry basket was standard continental fare (white flour muffin and bagel and a little pastry likely thawed out I think). Helpful friendly staff. Ample movies library (and books!) available for checkout. Four stars only because in our opinion that fifth star should be reserved for the outrageously awesome. read more

If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing vacation, you found a great place! it's situated right on the Moonstone Beach Dr. Our view of the ocean was spectacular! We loved our room with the fireplace and hot tub outside. It felt sooooo good to soak in a jacuzzi under the stars and enjoy a glass of champagne. The King bed is very comfortable and we also had a queen sofa for kids. The room was very clean and lovely. Ask for Suite #1 or #2, both of them have an ocean view and a private outdoor hot tub. We enjoyed sitting in our rocking chairs outside reading dairies, the stories of some guests who had been staying in our room for the past 15years, quite entertaining:-)))) Breakfast was brought to our room every morning; variety of bake goodies and fruits. Nice touch: our car windows were washed every morning so we could enjoy the great views of the scenery. Very close to a lot of attractions: 10 min to the Hearst Castle, 15 min to Elephant seals beach on PCH, 20 min to Piedras Lancas Light Station.
