This was my second visit to White Wine and Butter. The first was brunch, which admittedly, was just okay but I'd heard amazing things about the dinner menu so I figured the hubs and I would give it a try. We opted for an early dinner to bear whatever crowd a Saturday night might bring. We were greater immediately by our server and ordered fountain drinks. The Diet Coke I received tasted like carbonation and when they brought me another from behind the bar it had no carbonation. We ordered the devil eggs and oyster for an appetizer. They tasted great. The accompanying crackers looked heavily seasoned but were unexpectedly bland. We opted for the Front Porch Fried Chicken to share as our entree because we both wanted to try it. The menu said 30 minutes wait time but it surprisingly came out quick. When we asked for plates to eat the meal from the server brought out two appetizer plates. This was confusing because I'm not sure how he expected us to eat chicken and two sides on app plates. We struggled through it. The chicken was tasty with the right amount of heat on the skin. The macaroni and cheese however was a huge disappointment. It was beyond bland. I had to question if an African American Chef really okay'd that recipe. The collards on the other hand were overly seasoned and had too much of a kick. It was as if someone in the kitchen got a little too heavy handed with the peppers. I had to read the menu to see if this was called out. It wasn't, which was disappointing, because I could not eat them, and I don't mind a higher spice level. All in all we decided we'd rate the place a 5.5/10. I think the place has a lot of potential but there are small things that need to be fixed before we return due to the distance. read more

I recently visited White Wine & Butter at the Greer Country Club with high expectations. The clubhouse setting and interior decor are quite charming, creating a lovely ambiance. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly by the hostess. Although there was a slight wait for our server to arrive, it was not a big issue. This restaurant is famous for its house-made pasta, and they certainly lived up to that reputation. We both ordered pasta dishes; however, I found the limoncello dish a tad sweet for my liking, though the pasta itself was fresh and cooked to perfection. If you plan to visit, be ready to relax and enjoy conversation, as the food can take some time to arrive. They mention that their signature whole chicken requires a 20-minute cook time, but in reality, expect a wait of about 25 minutes for any entree. The standout dish of the evening was the Seafood Gumbo, which was simply fantastic! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, adding to the experience. Thus is my second time visiting this spot. We came out last year and although I was excited about the fact there was an African American chef at this restaurant I wasn't really impressed by the food nor the service. The staff was slow getting to us and it took a long while for our food to come out. Even though it's been over a year since we were last here, unfortunately little has changed. The food was decent but our reservation was for 1:00 and our food didn't come out until 2:15pm. I have several food allergies, with gluten being one of them...and there weren't many options for that food sensitivity. I REALLY had my hopes up for this second visit as I chose this restaurant which was 35-40 away. I thought that with time, maybe things would be better. But sadly I wasn't very impressed and probably won't come back. It's nothing personal but I honestly expected more...more menu options, and less time waiting for our food. I was excited to try food from this top chef restaurant, after viewing the Chopped episode where owner and Chef Mike Sibert won. The ambience was clean, modern, and fit the country club vibe. The golf course views on Greer Golf Course were great. What a bonus for the restaurant to be located on a golf course. The spring rolls and double smashed bacon cheeseburger were delicious. The flavors blended well together. My only objection was the noise level. It was difficult to block out the noise. I recommend this restaurant, and I will return again. Chef's kiss! read more

Beautiful upscale establishment. Waitress was great, helpful and attentive. Now, the food ... ain't no way this the kind food coming out of this place. Everything was covered in hot sauce seemingly to cover the non seasoned bland food. I can't and won't. If, and that's a strong if, I ever return it'll just be to chill at the bar for drinks hopefully they aren't flat and tasteless as well! Please hire a new chef. Please! This is a hidden gem! The staff was amazing and the ambiance is quaint and nice - we had just gotten engaged and wanted to pop somewhere for a nice meal and this was beyond our expectations! AC, our waitress, brought us champagne and they took the time to write a congratulatory note and drew a little diamond ring to add to our dessert plate. Aside from the stellar service, great recommendations by AC (all of which we ordered), the food itself is inspired. Creative, comforting, and delicious! My girlfriends and I were excited to try this place and were disappointed by the experience. We went on a weekday evening and there was a one big group (~12 people), and that seemed to have slowed down the service for everyone else at the restaurant, although our server was really nice. It was dark and very loud in the restaurant to a point where I couldn't hear my friends without having to yell. One person in our party got the whole fried chicken, which on the menu said was going to take a while to prep. The chicken ended up coming out first actually - everyone else's food took about 45 minutes from the moment we ordered. I would say the bread and the butter were the highlights of the meal. Their homemade butter that comes with the bread was very good. Out of all the main dishes we ordered - fried chicken, crawfish etouffee, and royal street pasta - nothing was really particularly good. I'm averaging this out to a three. We really wanted to like this restaurant but will not go back. The appetizers were a 4! So good. Had the deviled eggs with added fried oysters. Taste was great and presentation was beautiful. Ordered the Brussels Sprouts as a side with dinner and they were also great. We both ordered the oxtail lasagna as they make the pasta in house. That was a 2 or a 1. Very dry. No sauce. No flavor. Bottom was dry and burned like it had been overcooked in the oven. Not at all the quality I would expect for that price point and the talent of the chef. It also had about 1/2 inch of grated parm on top like the kitchen knew it was not up to par and tried to cover it up with cheese. I hate to post a bad review for a restaurant trying to get it going but this meal was bad especially for the price point. I hope they can improve and do better. read more

Then we got our check and the manager decided to have a meeting with all servers and bartenders for over 20 minutes. Mind you there were more than 4-tables still seated. When we left I said something to the manager that 1-you should never hold a team meeting on the floor in front of customers and 2-you should never ignore your customers. She tried to say the servers assured her none of the tables were being serviced. But we still had to wait to pay. We didn't take it Out on the server. She was great. White Wine & Butter is located in the clubhouse of the Greer Golf Course - with hubby and I in sweats as we get ready to travel home today, we were hesitant to go in since the dress (as we read while in the restaurant) is business casual. But it was a really welcoming place, great vibes and friendly staff. I opted for a mocktail to go with my chicken and beignets, while hubby got the gumbo and cheese grits. Been here twice got sick both times, won't be back. The bartender is great and very knowledgeable about everything there, server was not great at all she even complained about the job. The devil eggs are a 10/10 and salmon was a 7/10 the drinks are a 10/10 but everything else was not good. The Mac and cheese taste different but not a good different and not a "I want more" type of dish either I only got it again cause other options I didn't want. The crab claws taste was not good at all. The chicken was definitely not good but I spent $75 on the meal decided to eat it anyway and realized it was not done I even wiped the chicken to be sure it was blood coming from it and it was it was not just pink. read more

I wanted to visit this restaurant after seeing Chef Michael on Chopped and WOW was it delicious! Our family of 4 adults visited on Mother's Day weekend and had a 4pm reservation. We were one of the only tables when we arrived, which allowed a chance to take in the beautiful dining room and enjoy the views of the golf course. I hate that I have forgotten our server's name, because she was amazing. She gave us some background information on the chef and the menu, and said that she genuinely loves everything on the menu. We had a variety of apps, but the shrimp toast and deviled eggs were my favorites. My mother and sister both ordered the front porch fried chicken, which was a WHOLE chicken served on a wooden board with accoutrements. You could taste the sweet tea in the brine, and the chicken was perfectly crispy and seasoned. We also had the jambalaya risotto and barbecue shrimp and grits. My dad couldn't keep his fork down with the shrimp and grits - they kept calling for another bite! As a food influencer, my parents are often the hardest people for me to influence, and they left full and already hoping to come back again! I am so glad we eventually got ourselves to White Wine and Butter !! Our group of 6 visited last night for our holiday get together. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and took extra effort to ensure special needs were met. We ordered a Front Porch Chicken as soon as we were seated to allow for the prep time. Our group ordered wines and cocktails, all were excellent. The water bottles were kept filled and French press coffee was hot and fresh too. The blue butter gold ball was a hit ! We had a variety of meals including pasta, steak salmon and the chicken. All were perfectly prepared and flavorful. There were not many left overs to take home. The chicken was such a surprise ..... not kidding when it says WHOLE chicken. It was awesome We shared a flight is beignets , light and airy with great dipping sauces The restaurant is very open and loud when it was full but not the end of the world. With it being busy we waited quite a while for our meals but it was worth it and we were not in a rush. Clubhouse atmosphere the service was excellent very helpful and selections and describing the food to us we got exactly what we asked for the whole fried chicken and macaroni and cheese side was the best fried chicken I ever had in my life we split it between three people, but also had the lemon pasta which was a dish all of its own. I can't even say it tasted like anything I ever had before very unique and delicious the Caesar salad had tons of cheese in it lots of flavor we're going to have to go back and try some more things we didn't get to. Nice clubhouse setting for a restaurant. Server very pleasant and knowledgeable. Everyone at the table loved their mains. I on the other hand didn't love mine. The starters were excellent, especially the deviled eggs topped with fried oysters. I liked the duck confit tacos, but IMHO the eggs were much more interesting. My main was a riff on Étouffée made with squid ink radiotore pasta. It's a dish I have made at home and eaten at numerous restaurants in New Orleans. The flavor of this effort was not at all reminiscent of those past experiences. The apple cheesecake that we all shared was spot on. Will be back for sure. We excitedly planned our visit to White Wine and Butter reading that it had a new chef and we wanted to give it a try. The wait staff was personable. The manager, Taylor, came by to get us water since our glasses had been empty for 15-20 minutes, and with cajun food, one needs a drink. The menu said the fried chicken would take up to 45 minutes to prepare. All of the entrees took about 30 minutes to prepare such as shrimp and grits, salmon and asparagus, and macaroni and smoked brisket. The entrees did not arrive at the same time and neither did the salads. That was less than stellar. The reason we were given was that "the salad was ready. No one brought it," referring to the last one. , Taste. The taste of the dishes was passable. Nothing reached an 8/10 and most dishes were at the 5/10 level. The shrimp and grits is hot with cajun sauce, for instance. The heat was a little past enjoyable in most dishes. Being at a golf course, the dining room is busy with the after work and golfing crowd. It was loud but exciting. The tables had a coating on them that was chipping away in several areas, but they had cloth napkins. That was good. The overall review would be 2.5/5. read more

Not at all impressed, especially after all of the online hype. If you live in Greenville (especially on the south side), save your gas money, restaurant money, and time. We shared the brussel sprouts (they were adequate, at best), duck tacos (they were ok), fried chicken (you can get better fried chicken at Publix), and the filet (ordered it medium, and it was closer to medium-well/well, tough, and lacked flavor). The pasta in the mac-n-cheese that came with the chicken was overcooked, and this side dish lacked flavor overall. The room was deafeningly loud (some simple acoustic tiles on the walls/ceiling would easily solve this), and the service was slow. My first drink was a Prosecco-based drink, and the Prosecco had not been chilled at all. I ordered a glass of red wine before the steak was served, and I saw the glass sitting at the bar for about 15 minutes. We were almost finished with the steak, so I finally went over to the bar and asked the bartender if that was my glass of Malbec sitting there. He was very rude and told me our server would bring it over. There are FAR better restaurants in Greenville, so we will not need to go back, especially based on what you get for the price point. read more
