I went here to get my bike repaired and my sister bike repaired. The lady that's work there was rushing us. She didn't want me to ask questions to the repair guy. She just keep telling he is booked. Understandable I wanted to ask a question he literally was looking at me 2 ft away so I proceeded to ask. She gave me a look. So I said I want to ask you question he returned and said "that's not a question. They was very rude like we wasn't wanted there. There demeanor that toward us was racism I felt!! RUDE RUDE RUDE Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice... So I have to say that this was not the first time they've been rude to me or others in the store. I forgot the previous instance, but it was basically enough for me to not ever want to go back. But I ended up there again just out of desperation because they didn't have some weird part at jensons or neighborhood cyclery. So just looking out of curiosity for the part I went to whites. The owner, older guy with glasses, asked to help & I told him what I needed, & he proceeded to tell me that it didn't exist. I had the actual part on my phone, & instead of saying they didn't carry it, he denied its existence. I showed it to him as an example, they even had the part for a different size, & instead of just saying 'ok, I'll look it up' he yells out that it, the part, was stupid and wouldn't work. Enough so that the other customer could hear. Ok F! Him Then his wife chimes in 'he doesn't sugar coat it, he tells it like it is' to the other customer. F! Her too Then the mechanic comes out & starts talking to me, btw the owner walked out at this point to sit in his car. We discuss the part, I show him the thing & he says they don't have it. Thanks guy. At least you tried & were personable enough. Whites has been around for a while, maybe the owner was less ornery back then, they were the only game in town for big portions of time. I really dont like this place. I asked them if they could fix my brakes. They asked nee what bike and all that and told me that they could not make any money of my bike and refused fixing my mountain bikes brakes.that's messed up.at least try. I had been going to Whites bikes fairly regularly for the past year, about 10 visits total. The owner and his wife are slow to greet and help you at the counter, and repairs are pointed to the back sometimes with a glance, sometimes with a grunt. He works wonders with truing bent wheels etc., so as far as craftsmanship goes, he's great. -1 Star for inconsistent customer interactions. The mechanics are awesome and friendly, honest and will tell you everything up front and bluntly. They consider themselves "precision bike mechanics" and so prefer not to bang on anything. The bike selection there is mainly BMX and Road bikes, with a few cruisers. The parts selection is ok, but their Fixed Gear parts are limited to Masi/Brev-M components. Here is where I give them 3 stars instead of 4. Even after being a repeat customer to the point where the techs recognize me, I was turned away for a crank and bottom bracket replacement. The threads in the crank arms were destroyed, and so it would require brute forcing the cranks out with a special tool, which they were unwilling to even attempt to do. As far as working on more difficult problems and potentially damaging the bike, they might be less willing to do so. The mechanic was unwilling to in his words, "bang on a Felt superlight frame." Which is understandable, but unsatisfactory. I ended up bringing my bike to California Cyclery Riverside Schwinn, and it came out of the operation unscathed (I have a review of them as well). read more

Nice LOCAL business where if you are serious about owning quality they will take the time with you to help you figure this out. Things come assembled, tuned and adjusted for the purchaser. Very friendly staff and they can be blunt though in a way that is honest and frank. If you are dealing with repairs they do try to work out several alternative solutions and look to make it cost effective. I will be looking to do business for years to come! From bicycles to all the various accessories, carriers, and repair service that you will pay a reasonable price with a conservative estimate. Cost is more than Amazon, Service you get is WAY better, and sometimes, knowledgeable personable service (for the extra $20) is totally worth it! I do not work for them but I do own a small business in MV. They do not do business with me, either. I just appreciate regular local people working hard and trying to be very good at what they do. read more

I would like to share that I was looking for a bike shop to buy a bicycle for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas... I called several places but no luck, when I called Whites bikes the owner was very nice and told me what bicycles she had available and that she would walk me thru the online site to view them. I saw what I wanted and asked if she could hold it for me, she said yes but only for an hour... I went, placed a deposit for the hold and picked it up by Christmas... Stopped by today 9/26/2020 for a 26" rim for my beach cruiser. I get there at 12 and the door is locked. I see employees inside and figure they just hadn't unlocked the door yet, no biggie. The owner comes to the door and lets another customer out then blocks the door and asks what's I need. I tell him a 26" rim for my bike. He goes and checks and locks the door behind him leaving us outside. Still not a big deal, While he's gone we're looking through the windows and notice they have a few beach cruisers inside (which is rare these days) and we decide we wanted to check them out. He comes back with the wheel I need and tells me the price. I asked, "we can't come inside and look at the bikes?" He responds with "are you looking for a bike?" Really??? What else would I be there for?? I respond back with "well I would like to see what you have". The owner hesitantly responds back with "no I'm sorry". So I said "ok I'll just go somewhere else" and he said "what about the wheel?" I said the same thing "I'll just get it somewhere else". He then turns around and asks the lady something and he says "ok you can come in" as we're walking away. I respond back "no that's ok" and we continue to the car. As we drive away and are sitting at the light he is walking over to our car motioning for us to roll down the window. Our light turned green and we drove off. If I was a business owner in this "covid era" I would do everything I could to earn a repeat customers business. My son bought 2 inner tubes from the lady there, when he put them on one had a leak..went back to the store the nice lady explained why they don't typically exchange inner tubes..bc people pop them when not done correctly, anyway the very nice lady exchanged it for my Son and since there wasn't anymore of the same she upgraded to a better one..that was very nice of her, she didn't have to but she did..We really appreciate that..we will definitely be going back and recommending this place..bless here heart. read more

I bought my road bike here after doing some searching trying to find one that fit my price range. They were very helpful and patient in showing me all the types of bikes (4 or 5 different ones I could have been interested in) even when it was so close to closing time. I purchased the bike I wanted, and rode home. About a week later I had some issues with the shifter, they looked at it without a question and took me in the back to show me what they were actually doing to the bike so I could know for next time. Today (about another week later) I went in because I tweaked my rear shifter again, yikes... well it took 60 seconds to fix it up this time for me, and they were happy to send me on my way again free of charge! No stars would be way more accurate!! We have been going here for years because this is pretty much the only store in MV. We bought a nice bike for Christmas and have had to take it in twice because of a problem with the crank. This last time we had to take it back, the owner,the old man, was a complete jerk! After having the bike for 2 weeks WE call THEM to see if its done. He said the parts are in but they don't have time to fix it. So if we want them to fix it we will need to wait at least another week. Really? 3 weeks to fix a damn bike we paid nearly 400$ for. The owner is a ass and he apparently doesn't like repeat customers so we will never go back. If I am going to spend that kind of money for a bike, ay least act like you want my damn business. For the past 5 years my family has only purchased bike products from Whites Bikes. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. My kids love to see their guard cats. I always recomend Whites over large retail chains because they are here to sell you an enjoyable experince riding bikes vs making a sale. They also dont carry items they don't believe are safe. Take the baby trailer with a spring near the bike atachment. My bike fell over and my sons trailer stayed upright. Love Whites bikes. read more
