My mom took her rv there to have a very easy part replaced and not only was the guy rude, dismissive and took FOREVER (2 months) to possibly even order the part, but once she told him the financial and personal hardship that the length of time was stating to place on her, he quit answering her calls. She asked if she could pick up the part and take it with her to her next reservation (she's a full-time RVer) and have someone else install it, but the guy refused to cooperate. She was late for her next personal commitment due to him, and he knew it. Unfortunately she read his reviews too late. Our bad, and lesson learned. This guy is a crook. Unfortunately for Motorhome repairs, your selection in east Ventura County is small. But, stay away from this place and the owner. He will keep adding on to your bill increments at a time and keep your vehicle as long as possibly for repairs. I took my MH to another repair place in Ventura after leaving Whitney because he said it needed this and that... All lies. 75 % of the repairs Whitney noted we're not necessary. Crooked it what I d call this business. I m surprised he is still in business. As for smog checks, any smog check station will check your MH. I went to the place in Moorpark and it was fine. This place puts out coupons for their smog checks and if you fail they won't re-test it for free unless they do the repairs. I payed for my smog and it failed. I wanted my own mechanic to fix my car. I left and had the repairs done then had to go to another smog place and pay a second time somewhere else. Don't go here! read more

My wife called for me to get a smog check and they said come right in, no wait. I get there 25 minutes later and they have a sign saying call due to social distancing. The guy says, we are eating lunch so can you wait 20 minutes and go run an errand" with an attitude. I say well I'm here now, I guess. 20 minutes go by and nothing. This place doesn't want your business. Try Valley Smog on first street. In and out right away and that was with a car finishing up. read more

My 2002 Ford F150 5.4L 4x4 started blowing a smokey mist into the cabin when I turned on the AC. With the AC off, the panels were still blowing a sweet but horrible smell. That could only mean the heater core had gone bad and was leaking coolant into the HVAC system. For the 2002 models, I knew my whole front dash and steering wheel had to come off and a lot of other things had to be unplugged and disassembled to get to the heater core. With my bad back I knew I could not DYI it myself. I got quotes from Schneider's Auto Repair (I've used them before for major work) and Whitney Auto, which I never used before. Without me mentioning my other quote in-hand, Ryan said Whitney's Auto could do the work, have it back to me in 4 working days (which they did), and then quoted me HALF the price of what Schneider's was asking! Needless to say, I chose Whitney's. I also asked Ryan to install a new blend door since those go bad eventually, and asked for a good cleaning of the evaporator & HVAC box-- which they did for free. Ryan was straight forward, he listened to my problem & extra requests, and he kept the actual cost down to what he had originally quoted (plus cost of blend door). Its been a week and a half since I got my truck back, so I drove from Moorpark to La Jolla (San Diego County) with the AC working the whole way down and back. No problems that I can detect. I'm thrilled! I will be coming back to Whitney's Auto next time I need work done. I might just give my back a break and do less DYI stuff too ;) read more

I have used Gary and Ryan at Whitney's Auto Center for many years and have nothing but praise for them. They always do a great job and call me to let me know what the issues are and the costs before they do the work. I took my wife's Acadia to the dealership years ago and they tried to take advantage. I've been a long time customer of Whitney's paying their high prices for years. Not anymore. I will never go back. Gary has ruined the business reputation. When you pay a higher price you expect good quality workmanship. I had Gary do a complete check of my RV prior to a long road trip. The cost was almost $1,500. On the way out of town, we found ourselves in Las Vegas with out power. It turns out the main cable to the battery fell off during the drive. Gary said they never touched the battery cables. Really? $1,500 worth of work and you never looked at my batteries. NEVER AGAIN. read more

They called us when it was ready and told us the bill had come out to $650. When my husband arrived to pick it up the bill had increased to $1200 and there were still parts that had not even arrived yet. read more

Took my daughter's car in for a parasitic draw (electric draw) which had killed 3 new batteries. They tracked the draw down to the factory stereo amps in the rear seat of her vehicle by pulling the Fuse. When I asked how much to repair they said they did not know since they did not know what was causing the draw. They wanted approval to make the repairs but could state a price or even a estimate of the additional costs. I don't give anyone a blank check, so I took the car back. At the end of the day I got it back with the amplifier fused pulled out of the factory fuse box at the cost of $220. read more

Just to update on my follow up experience with a new mechanic. My RV sat at Whitney's RV for 2 months (beginning July 27). I had told him I was not in a rush but 2 months is a ridiculous amount of time for not doing any work on the RV. Although I brought it in because the generator would start but not stop after a few minutes, Gary told me that I needed a new starter, that the plastic flywheel had broken and that it would be at least $1000. He told me to get the "f*ck out" and threw my credit card at me when I challenged his charge for not doing anything. I found a new mechanic on Yelp; AK Brewer's RV Getaway. Anthony answered his phone immediately when I called and was able to get started on the work I needed that afternoon. He was courteous and very professional on the phone. He replaced the roof AC shroud and the gash on the edge of the roof I caused from low hanging branches. He then went to work on the generator. I told him about my experience and it turns out that all I needed was gasoline in the generator and new house batteries. The generator worked like it was brand new after Anthony did his work. All of that work cost less than what Gary had quoted me for the new starter that didn't need to be replaced. I don't want to say that Gary was trying to rip me off. However, I will say that whoever diagnosed my generator did not take the time to do the work correctly and therefore, I was subject to being ripped off after waiting patiently. Gary, I'm glad I got the "f*ck out" and found an honest mechanic. read more

The owner purposely runs the smog check as a final report and not as a pre-inspection do that when you fail you have to use him to do the "repairs". I went in there with a perfectly good engine bought my Rv from Conejo RV and it had passed the Smog check 2 years ago. And all of a sudden the system is "tampered" with and fails terribly and it's going to cost $750 to diagnose. Don't go there! Save yourself time money and a big headache!!! read more

Had my camper here twice. First for a generator they had for 6 months without fixing it. Second time they quoted a circuit board for a furnace that was twice as much as a complete, new furnace. They also hit me up for a "diagnostic fee" that was not shown on the work order or explained ahead of time. Going elsewhere now. read more
