What a fun, local cafe! I enjoyed my to-go coffee and the brief time I spent inside. Upon entering, it felt cozy and welcoming. There were an assortment of tables in this small shop, and beautiful photos on the wall. In addition to coffee and traditional shop treats, there was an assortment of gifts and other goods for sale. It took a little while to get my coffee with only one barista, but her kindness and willingness to make a quality drink for every customer made the time fly. This is a really amazing cafe, the owner hosts an Ethiopian coffee ceremony at 2:00 on Sundays which is a must-try if you are a coffee connoisseur. The pastries are top notch and the atmosphere is very warm with pro-Ethiopia and pro-women's rights vibes vs the corporate vibes of the Novos, Inks and of course Starbucks in town. Also, we have never had a problem with parking and it seems like someone is always willing to share their table if it is busy, the clientele mirrors the environment I suppose! read more

This coffee shop has gone through some changes. It's now called the Whittier cafe. They now have Beet Box's donuts which I'm not a fan of, but a lot of people are. I think when I visited they were still getting now how to work everything, like that sometimes annoying iPad. The coffee was good and the prices were fine. The outside patio is great now. Lots of seating and space. Free wifi available and some seating indoors as well. I'll give it another try. read more

Yummy bhatki chai tea... Nice ambience and music and pretty homey. They need at least one over stuffed leather couch or chair to make it a spot of choice but other than that... I can't see much to improve upon. It's cold but the outside patio shall receive a visit from me in the summer! read more

I love this cafe. The Whittier neighborhood in itself has a very relaxed and comfortable easy vibe, which is also reflected in the cafe. I've always had the best experience with the baristas and always have been greeted by genuine smiles. The patio is dog friendly and offers a nice blend of comfort, shade, sun, and people watching. I have been here several times and think it's a great neighborhood place. The coffee is Pablos, the tea selection is very good (had iced tea made with The Big Chill - a sweet licorice/hibiscus brew needing no additional sweetener), and they make a really tasty sandwich (ask about them). The baked goods look good and there is also ice cream from Liks. The barristas are all very nice. read more

How have I missed this place? LOVE! Great iced coffee and THE BEST pannini - arugula, pickle, avo, tom, cheese, and turkey - crazy good and big - I shared with a friend. Will DEFINITELY return. The coffee at Whittier is excellent, brewed at the perfect temperature and both the indoor seating area and the outdoor patio are spotless. The signage and decor are hand made, you can tell the owners of the cafe have put a lot of effort into making this a pleasant place to be. It's too bad you can only make one first impression. After walking in, the barista promptly walked out back, I can only assume the devils lettuce was calling. I stood at the counter waiting, and waiting, probably could have had Peyton fly in from CA to make my drink faster than I was helped. Eventually a lady, enjoying her drink and newspaper (sitting there the entire time) gets up and heads behind the counter to take my order. For being a small shop with only a few patrons inside, I was surprised by cold and disinterested manner that she took my order, and payment. Aside from all the that, the drink was over priced, and similar to any other place I could've, and will, take my business in the future. read more

This past Sunday I had the distinct pleasure of getting off of an exhaustive plane ride and landing back in Colorado. Upon exiting the freeway I took a little trip to the Whittier Cafe and saw that almost every table in the place was taken because that establishment is just that dam great!! I had the honor of catching Millete hard at work and was blessed to be able to catch up with her for a bit and introduce her to my nephew. The service was superb, the weather was remarkably windy and if I had more time, I likely would've not taken my order to go; and enjoyed a few minutes on the enclosed patio area. I am elated that the cafe is still thriving and overjoyed at the fact I can now spend MORE money there because of the newly introduced beer and wine options they have available. I am excited about being a patron throughout the Spring and Summer months and cannot wait until a second location pops up somewhere. Go Whittier Cafe!! read more

The coffee here is far beyond anything else you will find in denver. Its very rich and flavorful. Unlike starbucks, you can actually enjoy a cup of this coffee or cappuccino without having to put all kinds of other crap in it. Their 20oz Cappuccino has 4 SHOTS! if you want to get fired up for a morning meeting I suggest grabbing the 20oz and fly on into that boardroom! read more
