The Whittier Cafe is a warm, friendly, and inviting spot with good coffee and a delicious breakfast burrito. The staff is friendly and highly skilled. This Whittier neighborhood cafe has comfortable seating and a wonderful outdoor patio with plenty of seating. Street parking is plentiful. The walls are covered with artwork to enjoy and ponder. The bathroom wallpaper is an interesting read! The cafe also has books and games as well as coffee and tea products for sale. The highlight of our visit was meeting a group of five women who were filled with joy and had plenty of laughs! They were fun to talk to and a pleasure to connect with. How I've never been here before is beyond me! This place is terrific. The customer service is amazing, the food was delish, and the coffee was phenomenal. They have a nice outdoor area or inside seating with some nice A/C (very essential with this current heatwave) I loved my turkey Panini, I really liked that they serve a Clementine as a side with it. I can't believe it's taken me so long to visit Whittier Cafe! It's very unassuming on the outside, in a quiet neighborhood. Came here with a friend in the late afternoon and sat on the outdoor patio where the weather was lovely. Others were doing work on their laptops. We enjoyed our blood orange iced teas, though I'd love to come back to try their coffee and food. PLUS--they're the only African Espresso Bar in Denver and proudly call themselves "The Activist's Coffee Shop" because of their strong belief in social justice and community support. My favorite is the turkey avocado but you can't go wrong with all their yummy eats. If you're a work from home girly like me, come prepared. I am currently sitting on Whittier Cafes cozy little patio and wow, I think I may have found my new work spot. This little coffee shop is colorful, the baristas are kind, and the coffee is right up my alley It's a bit chilly out, so I went with the honey bear latte (a house favorite) and consider my afternoon made. It's the perfect amount of sweetness without being too overwhelming, and feels like a huge bear hug with every sip. (Especially on these colder days) I am looking forward to attending their East African coffee ceremonies which take place on Sundays at two and trying their wide variety of teas they offer. Very chill and inviting. The drinks were DELICIOUS. (Please note and absorb the capitalization for emphasis.) The cafe: The feel of the place was very unassuming and friendly. There's an outdoor patio to the left of the cafe with ample space for social distancing. Indoors is more cozy - difficult to have too many people at once though. The room goes back like a wide railroad room with limited seating. There are books and board games in the back bookshelves across from the bathroom. The drinks: -Matcha latte has a true matcha green tea flavor. Deep milky matcha taste and not sweet. -The Cortado was richly satisfying and I'm not a coffee drinker. I'll return to try other coffee drinks here in the future. -I'm in love with their hot chocolate. Not too milky, sweet, or heavy. No powdery-feeling. I'm rarely impressed by a hot chocolate but it's just right here. -You can taste the pure flavor of all three drinks - it's like the flavors aren't adulterated with other distractions like a lot of espresso drinks (i.e. Starbucks). read more

We were looking for a quick and yummy lunch in the area, and we were not disappointed! Veggie Panini (5 stars) - perfectly grilled sandwich bread slices held very fresh and crisp arugula and tomato along with cheese, pickles and some kind of pesto. It really hit the spot and I was surprised the bread didn't get soggy since I got takeout Turkey Vegetable Panini (4 stars from my boyfriend) - He was happy the sandwich was held together by hearty bread and didn't fall apart. The fillings were satisfying, but a bit heavy on the arugula and light on the turkey. Burrito of the day (3.5 stars from my boyfriend) - Overall an okay burrito but on the small side.
