Pulled pork plate with coleslaw, potato salad

I love their pulled pork sandwich. Coleslaw is good, but I wish they made it with mayonnaise. Extremely fast and friendly service.

AMAZING brisket, we loved it all. The Mac and cheese was outstanding. we are going back before we leave town.

    Beef Brisket Plate

Had the beef brisket plate and the beef brisket/sausage combo plate. Sides were baked beans, cucumber salad & macaroni and cheese. Each plate came with a roll. Food was fresh and relatively quick during a late lunch. The meet was delicious and tender. The baked beans were okay as was the Mac and cheese. Chill atmosphere. Would return if I lived in the area.

Excellent lunch! We shared the half rack of ribs, ordered two sides of cole slaw and a couple of glasses of the brewed iced tea. No sauce needed but we did try them all :)

Parking is limited, so the free parking attracted us. We checked reviews online, and the majority were excellent. As we entered, the heavenly smell wafted through the place. That clinched the deal. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and efficient. When he asked if we wanted to go cups or glasses for our drinks, we opted for to go cups. The drink machine was in the dining area, and refills were complimentary. We also got our sandwiches with the Coleslaw to the side, not on the meat, in the bun. By the time we got our drinks, and found a place to park our butts, we got our sandwiches. Husband had the pulled pork and I had the pulled chicken. Both were moist and tasty - even without sauce. Husband said the beans were spicy. They had a kick. The coleslaw was dry, sweet, and very good. We had 6 sauces from which to choose - our favorites were the sweet ones - #1 and #5. We savored every delicious bite. I ate half of mine without the bun, to get the full chicken flavor. It was pleasant eating inside. Frank Sinatra serenaded us over the sound system. Other diners were in our area, & we were all spread out. Note: If you are looking for a job, they're hiring as of 5/26/21. But you wouldn't know they were short staffed. Service was exceptional! And so was the food!

Super friendly people and nice ambiance and most importantly very good food!!! A little pricey but totally worth it so I don't think it matters. A lot of sauce choices and all good!!!

You step up to the counter and place your order from the big board on the right. There are a variety of sandwiches and sides. You can buy the meats by the pound too. We each chose a brisket sandwich. One with the tastiest potato salad that I have ever had, except my own. The other was a great juicy coleslaw. We ordered a side of cucumber salad with red onion and a tangy dressing. We took our table to be served. Each table has a 6 pack of BBQ sauces to meet your own pallet. We like the thick molasses spicy #5 the best. They also had a volcano sauce, but we were chicken! You get your own soft drinks in the room on the other side, but can order a bottled beer out of the tall refrigerator. Manuel, is the cook, and he did a great job. The sandwiches were stacked with tons of meat. Z was the young helper gal who took our order. Everyone was very pleasant. We will be back. We can see why they won all those national competitions with their wonder meats. Lots of trophies on display! They know how to BBQ!

The café has a cool, modern vibe with plenty of indoor seating as well as a nice outdoor patio. They were very busy on a Saturday morning. The counter staff was very matter-of-fact. Not rude, but not especially warm or welcoming either. Honestly, I got the impression she was just under a lot of stress. We also asked another staff member if we could use one of the patio umbrellas (they were all closed for some reason), and he was prompt and friendly, which we appreciated. We ordered a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese, a meat-filled empanada, a honey latte, and a cold brew. The cold brew was a little too dark for my taste, though coffee preferences are definitely subjective. Interestingly, there's a place in Albuquerque that has an almost identical flavor profile. The toasted everything bagel was very good, but it didn't come with quite enough cream cheese. The single cream cheese packet also felt a bit lackluster presentation-wise. That said, when we asked for more, the response was friendly and accommodating. The honey latte had beautiful latte art and great flavor, definitely a highlight. The empanada, filled with ground beef, green chile, and piñon, was a bit over-toasted, but the filling itself was flavorful, even if somewhat sparse. Overall, I think 35 North has a lot going for it and could easily elevate the experience with a few small improvements to consistency and customer service.

The inside is dirty and uninviting but I was needing a place right away so I committed. The carrot cake looked really good so I asked the girl for a piece. She was very odd. She started at me as if she couldn't believe someone asked for the carrot cake. She said something I couldn't understand. My friend jumped in to help but she just looked at him too. So odd. Eventually she handed me a styrofoam container with carrot cake in it. I also ordered a small Americano. The Americano was good and the carrot cake was good, but it was a small piece and not worth $13! I asked for the Wi-Fi password, but the other girl working in the counter also kind of stared at me and shrugged her shoulders. I asked again she said "I don't know it" I tried to ask the other girl and she said"we don't know it because no one's ever asked for it before". I said, "but you're a coffee shop and the Wi-Fi is there for guests. We just need the password." And she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. The latte didn't do anything for me...it was overly sweet without really tasting of honey or lavender, and was too thick or something. The doughnut, however, was a different story. The blue cornmeal gave it a really nice texture--a bit crunchy, and the icing had actual lavender, not just flavoring. Best $2 I've spent today! It was sweet without being too sweet and the rosemary, thyme and cardamom gave it a unique twist. This place is on the smaller side and there's not a whole lot of seating, although they do have a few outdoor spots. I also care about the vibe of a place, so the breakdown is 5-star coffee drinks, but ho-hum 3-star service, hence the 4-star review instead of the 5 I would've loved to have reported here. The place is a few blocks from where we stayed and was easy to walk to and find, knowing I'd be looking for a sign with a few animals on it and it may not be obvious to some that this business is a coffee shop. I ordered the Crash of Rhinos, which fits their clever theme. The drink was just sweet enough and unique and flavorful. However, when we walked in, there was no barista or anyone at the front to greet us; we didn't mind waiting a minute or two for someone to show up since it was clearly open and there were a couple customers inside (and duh, we were on vacation and not in a hurry). When the nose-ringed hipster-looking girl came around the corner I was disappointed that we were not greeted with a smile or a good morning, or "sorry to keep you waiting" kind of phrase. She took our order, made our drinks, and did not say thank you (I did, and tipped her $2. Why, I'm not sure). That was that. Hubs ordered the spicy mocha drink and it was a bit much; he decided it would be better iced or he'd try a different selection next time. Yes, there was a next time. Different barista, same kind of treatment. Still tipped just because I was a barista for many years and know this really helps supplement a worker's salary and encourage good communication with customers. This time I ordered the Murmuration of Starlings latte, which has rosemary, thyme, and cardamom notes. It was delicious but similar to the Crash of Rhinos drink. The third time we visited we entered through the Chocolate and Cashmere shop next door. I found it funny that the nose ring barista girl happened to be in that shop talking to the girl who worked there, but when we walked in, she quickly exited back to the coffee shop to sit with the other barista at a table in the coffee shop. The chocolate shop girl was so sweet and we even visited their location in the Plaza a day later and she was just as nice, even though that day we did not make a purchase. Overall I do recommend Crash Murder Business for their coffee drinks, but don't expect friendly service. (If you're looking for that, go to Iconik up the street!) Just because you work at a coffee shop and you have a cool haircut does not make you above others. Especially when small businesses work to please their customers and should encourage their return. Kind of a shame...but I would still go back for the coffee if I were ever in town again.
