Wandered by on a whim, and I am so glad I did! This is the largest amount of spices I have ever seen, and I knew I had to take advantage. The girl working was super sweet and helpful with weighing, bagging, and explaining everything I had questions about. I took some time to wander around, and they really have every spice, spice blend, and powdered plant/fruit/seed you can think of! There's a whole rack of different types of salt- I was in awe. I ended up buying parsley garlic salt and white pepper, which were weighed out and put in labeled bags, and Italian seasoning, which came in a small jar. I'm already using and enjoying everything I bought! I wish I lived closer to Napa, because this spot really has everything for your spice related needs.

I have only been here a few times to buy spices, but every time I come I am absolutely amazed! There is such an abundance of different spices -- sweet, savory, tangy -- the flavor possibilities are endless. Sometimes, that's what makes it so hard to come here! I can literally spend an hour deciding on what spices to buy. Right now, they aren't allowing any touching or smelling of their products. You let the employee on duty know what you want, and they measure and bag everything up for you. Just keep that in mind if you're coming to browse and don't really know what you're shopping for. During this visit, I bought Matcha Salt + Sea Salt & Porcini Mushroom seasoning. Matcha Salt is a staple at my house (especially for KBBQ nights), and the Sea Salt & Porcini I wanna try on some salmon. Very happy with my purchases and will be back to replenish and try out new spices!

IMHO Very friendly and helpful service. Like spices? This is your place! You can either self-serve your own spices or have someone help you. There are huge jars of specialty spices to choose from. You fill plastic bags with the amount of spice you desire, then use a Sharpie to label the bag with its corresponding name and number. You are encouraged to open the jars and smell the lids. Do NOT stick your nose into the jar! LOL

    Best place ever!

I absolutely love this place! They have all kinds of spices and international spices. You will find spices here that you will not be able to find anywhere else. If you like spicy, the best seasoning for almost anything is the Ghost Pepper Salt (#797). Awesome spice with a punch!

UNIQUE SALTS, SUGARS, SPICES and more! Located within the Oxbow public market in Napa, this cute little shop made me come back THREE times during my short stay. WHITE TRUFFLE SALT: you can buy this by the glass jar or $8/oz. When they open the large bulk jar to scoop your portion out, you can smell the truffles immediately all the way down to the doors! Oh the AROMA is amazing. If you pack this in your suitcase, it will make all your clothes smell like truffles. Not a bad thing, but it was so strong that I had to take it out (and gave it with my sister who lives nearby) and went back and bought a whole glass bottle, which was sealed. I use it on eggs, potatoes, zucchini...it's delicious! NORTHWEST SALMON RUB: I bought a few ounces of this rub and made salmon when we got back. This slightly sweet and salty rub turned a boring meal into something more exciting! WHITE CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY SUGAR: cookies, cupcakes, pancakes, ice cream, strawberries. So many uses for this! There were so many other cool items at this place. Whether you're a chef or just like to eat, this place has some nice things to entice your taste buds!

Wow! you don't have to travel the world in search of spices, Whole Spice brings the world to you. "Trendy" spices such as smoked paprika and a few rare sea salts are available as well as spice rubs and flavored sugars are found here too. I have never even heard of or used some of these spices, like Dukkah, Zhug or Phoron, and I was surprised they even carry Pink Curing Salt, which has other aliases, or its more familiar abbreviation, TCM(tinted curing mix) an additive used in the charcuterie world which keeps meats from oxidation and looking bright and appetizing(hot dogs, ham, corned beef, etc.) Step aside kosher salt and black pappercorns, there's a lot more interesting seasonings in town!...ALOHA!!! I'm glad I stumbled across this booth at the Oxbow Public market because it's amazing! They have a wide variety of bulk spices available, from individual spices, to pre-blended options. You can smell them all and decide how many ounces you want to purchase. It's very affordable, with most of the ones that I saw going for around $3/oz. I ended up buying an ounce of the Rotisserie Chicken (which I've already used for meal prep this week and added so much flavor to the chicken thighs) and the Honey BBQ Chicken Rub, which I have yet to try, but I'm sure it'll be just as delicious. Another interesting one that we found was a Raspberry White Chocolate sugar which sounded like it would be good on top of toast for a sweet treat. I will definitely be back to grab some other blends when I run out.

I started buying Rancho Gordo beans online and they were the best beans I've ever had. Beans I have never seen or heard of before. A whole new world was discovered. Their website is beautiful to look at and informative. I also bought their bean cookbook. I subscribed to their emails and recently got the important news that their new store opened on Main Street and only a few blocks away from the Napa farmer's market. The store is very modern with wood floors, large windows and lots of light. They don't carry all the beans online but they do carry a good amount. I got some special black beans (Frigik Negro de Vara), very pretty green split peas and a new rare variety that goes bad fast (Flor De Junio bean) and a special fresh tumeric spice (see photos). I'm excited to try the new items. It is nice that they have dried Porcini mushrooms and morel mushrooms you can use in their bean soup. The porcini mushrooms are the brand that Rancho Gordo recommends and you can get 1.43 Oz for $19. They have interesting high quality spices and I bought a tumeric. They had samples of cooked beans. The ladies were friendly at the counter. I'm definitely returning to get more products!

If you cant make it to the shop then check out their web store front www.ranchogordo.com. As for the store front I really liked the way they have the shop decorated and how they have their products on display. When i was there they had some really nice mellow latin music playing and were selling fresh tortillas so the shop smelt really good. While the selection can be a bit intimidating they have people that can answer your questions while you look. For example i explained the beans and lentils i liked and they were able to recommend the Heirloom equivalent. Also they have recipes for many the different beans & lentils as well. Overall was a very fun trip to visit the store front and cant wait to go back the next time im in Napa.
