We used Whole Wood to source hardwood flooring for our 3000sqft home plus ADU. Wide selection, top notch service, reasonable pricing. Would not go anywhere else for our flooring needs and would highly recommend to friends and family!

All the short pieces (Wickham hardwood) we could not use. 70% of each box were shorties.

I bought my Wickham hardwood flooring. The salesperon recommended the brand for solid wood oak flooring because the boards were long (we requested this) and we could have the finish we wanted. I don't know if they just didn't know or didn't care, but majority (70%+) of boards were shorties (12-18") in each box. They referred me to the distributor who said that was the spec, so I was misled. This resulted in increased cost for installation and a huge pile of waste of short boards. I've refinished many houses but this is my forever home. A big price to pay for lack of communication.

Highly recommend! We have used Whole Wood for our remodel and now ADU. Very responsive, accommodating, great selection and will definitely use again for future projects.

They are a "solid" company! I have referred WW over and over and everyone has been super happy with their service, price and products.

If I can give zero I would. The worst and irresponsible store ever. First their floor quality is horrible. I got cracks and epoxy falls off after installation. After talking to them, they said in the phone that it's my fault by using water clean and the floor must be damaged by something fall on it. But the user manual on the official website of the brand says to use water clean for regular use and special floor cleaning for period cleaning. And of course nothing falls on it. They just want to push all the responsibility to the buyer by saying it's all your fault. Second, There are two lengths for the floor, I called in to purchase additional longer board two weeks ago and got invoice through email. And the floor delivered is the short version. Then I request to switch to the longer one. And they won't admit that I requested for the longer one. I spent over 32K on all the floors and didn't get any customer service or warranty. All I get from them is IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. Don't go to this store. Never been dealing with this kind of worst situation with any other re-sellers.

This is the best wood floor shop I always go. They are very knowledgeable and professional. Their recommendations for my investment property was perfect. I cannot recommend more.

Bad quality. The wood floor expand and contact than expected. the space between wood and wood become bigger and bigger. Where as some of floor expand much, and now there is a bump at my living room. And the wood is cracking by the wood itself, magic wood execuse me? Ok here's the story, at first we ordered the selected one around last June or July. And when we picked up,(we have called two week before to confirm pick up), then the guys in your store said there's system error, you don't have that any more. Execuse me, there's a long way from my home, we had to have our contractor to be there for nothing? Ok finally we get the current one last November. I am really curious how you define one year ago. By the way, we heard your advice, we hired nice contractor and used ahensive, since you adviced that as well. Interesting, this is the way that you deal with customer issue?

Whole Wood price is proven the beat in town. I was on a very tight budget to replace my flooring. Tried Flor decor, Home Depot, and all the low end stores but all they have is low end quality. I decided to stop by at Whole Wood since it's next to Home Depot. So glad to find there are many options at my price range with various colors and very good quality. So happy with my floors now everyday looking at it. The best deal and best decision I've ever made.

    Front Area.

I am a home remodeler and I have used Whole wood for 5+ years now. I have purchased from most flooring stores in the Bay area but I choose to return here. The location is easy to find and plentiful parking. They have extensive line of products. You definitely will find something you like there. Victor and Alex are very friendly and helpful. They are very knowledgeable about their products concerning origin and manufacture specs. They have been able to consistently help me on each one of my projects. They carry all types of materials including engineered wood vinyl laminates from the high end, mid-range and more cost conservative. They often have special deals so if you are a remodeler or want something for rentals ask about the deals. Their delivery time or pick up dates are more realistic than other stores making it easier merge with my schedule. Either way if you want to buy your hardwood floors from a reliable source from a crew that's eager to please definitely give Whole Wood a visit.

Whoa, was I wrong about these guys. Extremely disappointing. After delivery, the problems began. First, we noticed that our order of wood came up short. They first tried blaming me, but ultimately admitted to taking wood from our order to fabricate the nosings that would be used for my installation. To their credit, they did reimburse me for the product that they took from my order. However, those same nosings were defective and when I called to ask them to fix, they sent the individual who fabricated them to assess the issue. At the time, only 2 or 3 of them were having issues. Unsurprisingly, he decided the issue was with their installation, not fabrication. Months later, 13 of the 14 nosings are various stages of falling apart and they refuse to refund me. Don't do business with Whole Wood. You will regret it.

No place like this in the whole bay area! I was referred by my designer and contractor because they've been going there for 8 years Selection - See it to believe it they have the biggest selection specializing in Hardwood only! Price and service - I checked down the block at Floor Store quoted me 30% higher and took forever to return my call Extra Service - Whole Wood stored my floors over 6 months no charge. Definitely saved my money because 6mths later price increased everywhere. See my pictures below!

Here before closing and they would not let us in.

    What's the wholewood refund policy?

Forget it. They wouldn't even refund me when I never picked up the product and tried to cancel before the shipment arrived at their warehouse. I had to work through my credit card company.

Our job consisted of pulling up rooms of old carpet as well as an old kitchen hardwood floor, and replacing it all with 3/4" engineered wood from a Canadian company called Mirage. Elite's quote for materials and labor was not the most expensive nor the least, but when going through our house, Aleksey thought of questions, spotted issues, AND thought of solutions that no one else had asked about or even noticed. He was also the only one who told us that he could carefully remove our elaborate wooden baseboards without breaking most or all of them. Every other place simply said we would likely need to replace it all. As a result, their pricing was actually lower than anyone else if you take into account the cost we saved by not having to replace one single piece of baseboard. He was meticulous, measuring three times before ordering materials just to make sure he got the numbers right. Installation went smoothly and included work like grinding down areas of our foundation that were not smooth, moisture testing, coating of the slab with a moisture barrier, etc. They also made sure they installed the wood in a manner that will allow the kitchen appliances to be removed without damaging the floor, when the time comes that they need to be replaced. Again, no one else we spoke with even mentioned any of this. There were transitions between floorings of some rooms that were at different heights. For some of the areas, Aleksey did not care for the off the shelf transitions that companies sell. Instead, he and his crew crafted their own transition pieces & thresholds that looked beautiful and did the job. Far more elegant and unintrusive. They did the same for the transitions between stone surrounding fireplaces and one bathroom. Everything was carefully thought through. The guys showed up at 8 AM and sometimes worked until 5 or 6 pm if they were trying to get certain things done. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Communication with Aleksey was always good. Elite Hardwood & Flooring is not simply an installation company. Aleksey was able to provide me a quote over the phone and shortly after came over to take measurements. We had roughly 500 square feet that need to be refinished and it took a total of 3 days. This is a very delayed review- I had my hardwood floors redone by Peninsula Floors last year, but I…read morestill find myself thinking about the experience so I decided it might be helpful to others to share. The bottom line is that the bulk of the work was good, I'm overall satisfied with the results, and am glad that we got the floors refinished. However, there were several details about the experience that would make me hesitate to recommend Peninsula to friends or others looking to redo their floors. - I was initially quoted ~7-8 working days to redo the floors. The initial work actually took closer to 13 working days, and it took another 7 working days on top of that to complete followup items after I reviewed the initial work. To be fair, I was traveling for about 5 of those working days during some of the initial work and probably caused a bit of delay in my own responses being slow, but I also don't think that all of the delay was due to myself. - When provided stain samples, I was initially provided the wrong names corresponding to the samples. This was only noticed because I asked for another set of samples in another area of the house and was confused as to why the colors varied so much, and asked about it- otherwise it's very possible I would have selected a completely different color than what I intended. - There was some damage done by the sander to our metal stair railing, which they did patch up with paint, but it's still visible where the damage was. Also, initially only some of the stairs in the home had the scotia trim replaced- when I asked the ones where the previous paint clearly showed they also used to have trim, they just added it to all of the stairs regardless of which ones did or didn't have it before. There was also a tricky area in a closet that I said I would be okay not refinishing, and instead it was sanded but not refinished due to not being able to get into that area- I would have just preferred the initial topcoat wasn't removed in that case, because that area is now just unprotected wood. None of these details were mentioned to me or provided as project updates until I asked about them. - Lastly, after I had sent the final payment through, I realized some of our doorstops were missing after having been removed from the trim to not get in the way of the sanders. I asked where the team may have left them so I could reattach them and got no response. It's not a big deal, they were less than $5, but later, after moving in, I also asked about if there were cleaning/maintenance products they would recommend and also got no response. Being completely ghosted after having dealt with some of the difficulties mentioned above really left me feeling like they totally wrote me off as a customer and was not a pleasant way to end the project. I think they do decent work, but I suspect they're a bit stretched thin and smaller/less important jobs are not supervised as much and don't seem like they have the same quality bar. If I were to do it again, I feel like I would have been happier supervising more closely from the start. Edit- I appreciate Juan's response (below and privately), however I do want to make clear that not everything was addressed as I was told they would be. For example, for the incompletely sanded and unfinished area of the closet I mentioned above, I was told it would at least have some form of finish applied, which never happened. There were a few other details like this, but at some point it was no longer worth my time to chase them down especially as we were getting close to our move in which we initially thought we would have far more buffer for.

Their work and dedication showed me what true, pristine craftsmanship is and their company distinguishes themselves from the others. For background, I got several quotes for a 29 steps stairway flooring project and potential vendors either didn't respond after initially reaching out or the companies never responded after stating they would provide quotes when asked. That wasn't the case for VM Flooring. They were very communicative from the beginning. I also experienced vendors stating the job would take 1-3 days whereas VM flooring took about a week and 3 days. Why? Because they focus on quality, the details and not rushing. I can only imagine how terrible the end result would have been had I gone with vendors who said the 29 step stairway project would take less than a week. I was also able to buy my materials directly from VM Flooring which made things easier as well. I've worked with companies that outsourced the work to non experts in the field and it's been a disaster. This company keeps everything in house: who you see come to do the work are the ones who will actually do the work. Anatoly completed my stairway, he is a genius, and a true expert in the field, licensed and bonded. Be weary of individuals who come to complete the quote for any project, and then on the day the project starts, you never see the person again, as they outsource the labor to non experts. I would work with Jack and Anatoly in a heartbeat because of several reasons: they treated my home with care, even my anxious cat loved them, were safe (texted me whenever someone they didn't recognize came to the home), made sure the door was locked (texted me), and just so amazing to work with throughout the week and a half. I cannot recommend VM flooring enough and this is my second time working with them! Please note I bought flooring from them before and I worked with them again because they are that good. Thank you so much Jack and Anatoly!
