Poor customer service and poor quality carpet. Would not recommend them. Carpet has not held up very well.

I went here in look of new flooring and it had the nicest service I've ever seen I saw great product and when I forgot my face covering they provided a free one to me they let me take home as many samples of planks free and calculated price they install and have a simple form and you can take as many samples as you please but they do not accept returns and I loved it read more

Purchasing our new luxury plank vinyl flooring from Wholesale Carpet Designs was the best decision we could have made. We worked with Larry in selecting the materials and never felt any pressure or that he was trying to upsell us. He told us their installer was meticulous, but that doesn't even begin to describe it! A craftsman better reflects Artur's excellent work. Besides being meticulous, he was extremely considerate as my husband and I both work remote out of our home. He finished slightly ahead of the targeted time frame and left our home immaculate. I've been doing business with Wholesale Carpet Designs for the past 20 years. I've dealt with many of their outstanding employees who have changed over the years, and both of the owners. Being family owned, they make themselves available, unlike chain stores. Their prices and their service are unmatchable. They stand behind everything. When situations don't always go as planned, they work out a reasonable solution. I've had every one of their installation crews in my house at one time or another. All of their crews have worked from them for no less than 12 years. They come the day they say. Time estimations are usually never exact for ANY company. 10/7/2014 Edit " Wendy Santini owner of Wholesale Carpet Design placed an unsubstantiated Mechanics Lien on my property in the amount of $5849.20 for my carpet job, claiming she had not received any payment. The TRUTH is that Wholesale Carpet Design received payment in full for my carpet job upon completion on 5/13/14, per the contract agreement. Wendy Santini is attempting to collect twice on my carpet job. read more

Please beware before buying from this company. They have another location in Libertyville. Our carpet developed rippling after only three years. They wanted $2400 to fix the problem. I wish I was exaggerating when I tell you this rippling is all over the house. I can't express enough warning to go elsewhere. Beware. read more

From start to finish, we could not be more pleased. They had a wide selection, and quoted us a good price for the entire job. When the manufacturer's error caused a delay of 4-6 weeks beyond the original installation date, Wholesale Carpet negotiated a price adjustment from the manufacturer for us. The installation team was excellent. In addition to doing quality work, they were polite, neat and respectful of our home. Roy and his cew were wonderful. Ask for them! read more

I've rated Wholesale Carpet Design "3 stars" because that is the average of the ratings that I would give the employees (5 stars) and the owner (1 star). We came into the store to browse carpet options and one of the employees, Larry, helped me out. He was friendly, personable, very knowledgeable about their product, and overall pleasant and reasonable to work with. We were thankful to have Larry as our assigned salesperson. However, completely different experience interacting with the owner. For her sake, she is very lucky that I dealt with her after I had already purchased product from her store, because if I had to deal with her unfriendly, unreasonable, and overall unprofessional self prior to my purchase, there is zero chance I would have supported her business by purchasing product from her store. The issue I experienced was related to the delivery/installation of the carpet, as they arrive more than 4 hours later than the arrival time frame that I was promised (promised 8-9am, arrived at almost 1pm). Although the in-store employees are great to work with, the problem with Wholesale Carpet Design is that they outsource both the pre-installation measurement service and also the actual carpet installation. I called the store and spoke with the owner to express my frustration in a very reasonable and professional manner. Let's just say that she is very fortunate that I had such a positive experience with her employee, Larry, that prompted me to make my purchase in the first place. No business owner should treat their customers the way that she does. After all, the livelihood of her business entirely depends on customer satisfaction, and from having conversations with her it is very clear that she does not value or prioritize the satisfaction of her customers at all. Again, if you don't have to deal with the owner at all, then purchasing carpet from Wholesale Carpet Design should be a positive experience for you. The in-store employees are great to work with, the contracted/outsourced carpet installers worked hard hard, did a good job and were friendly, and the actual product itself is good. For the sake of the business, let's hope the owner comes to her senses and learns how to treat customers how they should be treated. read more

A couple of years ago we re carpeted a room in my grandmothers house right down the road from wholesale carpet. It was a very small room, about 10 by 9 if I remember correctly. Plus a small walk in closet that was another 20 square feet. We came in with exact measurements and they assured us there would be enough carpet to do everything, including the closet; so a contract was signed.We picked out a nice (pricey) carpet. We tore out the old flooring and tack strips and had it completely ready for the installers. The installers were confused at first and thought the carpet was cut wrong, but it was simply sideways. They installed the carpet in the room but did a bad job with the padding. You could feel where the padding was cut all the way along the floor right down the middle from one side of the room to the other. Also the carpet sort of separated from where they tucked it under a threshold to the other room. They (wholesale carpet, not the installers) never cut the carpet for the closet and when we told them about it they said since they did not measure it in person, it wasn't their fault. Keep in mind we had the correct measurements right from the beginning and even drew them a picture. Plus they charged either $80 or $100 to measure and it was non refundable and was not taken out of the final bill (very unprofessional). They ended up charging another $200 for the 20 square foot closet and they used a very cheap carpet even though we bought a very pricey carpet for the room. The job ended up costing about $1000! Unfinished hardwood installed, sanded and stained would have been the same price! Anyway, my dad called up to complain about the additional charge, and the salesman got in an argument and said some pretty nasty things that I can't write on yelp. I can, however, quote him saying something like "I hope you're getting really hot. I hope you're really fired up, because that's exactly how I want you to feel". When we asked to see a copy of our contract (because we did not want to pay the extra $200 that they snuck in) they said it was at their other store location. When we went to go over there, the store was closed for the day even though they knew we were going to be there in less than 5 minutes. They avoided us. When we went back to the original location, the extremely rude salesman said "oh it's you". He said they shredded the contract because they had no reason to keep it. The carpet itself was nice, but this company was terrible. I have never seen that kind of customer service. read more

Completely empty store except for one employee so empty that I thought it was closed when I saw only one car in the parking lot. Prices were outrageously high when compared to the big box chain stores. The guy was extremely rude and bitter when asking about pricing. read more

Be careful! Not only was the estimate $1700.00 MORE than other retailers in the area, but it was for less expensive products?! Not to mention the "$75.00 measuring fee"!? In addition to paying for someone to come out and measure, if you are planning on doing carpet and hard surface flooring, you will need to make yourself available twice! The carpet guy called and said he was from Luna and the second "measurer" showed up almost an hour late without calling! Although I unfortunately paid the 75 bucks, I never even got my measurements! I was told they would be emailed to me! Ha! Furthermore, you will be required to put down 20% BEFORE they even know what or how much you would purchase! Bad business practices all the way around! Way to many better, less expensive options in the area to use this place! read more

Remember, you get what you pay for - a good deal is good product, follow through and customer service and this place has a good product and exhibits good customer service until it's time for delivery and installation and then all bets are off. We like our carpet and whenever our wood flooring is repaired I'm sure we'll like that too but I still can't say I'd recommend this operation to anyone. We've never had a service person in our home as rude as their installer Neil and when we advised the sales staff about his behavior their response was along the lines of he's the best we have. If that's their best foot forward I'd run the other way! read more
