High quality seafood market with groceries and a hot food counter. Service is incredible and you really get a good value for your money here. Free parking while you shop and they have order pick up available.

Iconic Pittsburgh staple. Not only a great grocery store with super fresh food, but the food counter cannot be beat. Stand in line and get a fried fish sandwich as soon as possible!! Also the fresh squeezed orange juice should not be passed up!!

Most people don't know that wholeys has fresh squeezed orange juice!!! It is so good and perfect for mimosa's. I don't like the taste of seafood, but I still enjoy browsing the marketplace. It's not all seafood. Anytime we're in the strip we always have to visit!!

I had some of the best sushi ever at Andy's sushi cart inside of Wholey's. The rainbow roll was so fresh and came with a ton of raw fish on top. The strip district roll was unreal! Salmon skin, eel, teriyaki sauce. Woooow. So delicious I could eat three boxes of this alone haha. Andy is also such a character. When he found out it was our first time trying his sushi he gave us a free sample of some delicious tuna with a bunch of sauces. So good. Can't wait to go back!

Wholey's fish market is a whole Pittsburgh experience that you HAVE to try! This is definitely an infamous spot where you will find a lot of locals. The restaurant is located inside a little fish market where you can purchase fresh seafood! The line was literally outside of the door to get in. Lent is an especially busy time of year for them so be prepared to wait. There is free parking across the street from the main doors. Once you order your food, you wait for them to prepare it for you, pay at the cash register and you can walk upstairs to their cozy little dining area. The fish was delicious! It is hand battered and deep fried. Next time i would like to try their oysters. Their crab cakes do contain bell peppers (if you have an allergy). Fish is fried in corn oil. Sandwiches are served with a side of chips but you can always upgrade to lobster mac and cheese (they have 2 types), french fries, or another side. Only one type of fish comes broiled. I got the lent special halushki (not pictured). It could have used a little more seasoning. Protip: you can always ask for them to make you fresh fish.

Had a wonderful late lunch today. I got the fried cod sandwich. It's a half pound of fresh fish on your choice of bakery roll. It was fantastic. I also got a order of fries that they sprinkle with wing dust. Also very good. My friends got sushi from Andy's stand right inside the door and absolutely loved it. Don't miss the opportunity to check out all the fresh fish they have here. It's definitely a Pittsburgh experience.

Wholey's is a great place when in Pittsburgh. They are a market with a wonderful seafood deli....or a great seafood deli with a market. They are an institution in PIttsburgh. Their deli is wonderful. They have everything seafood. They serve soups, sandwiches, sides, lobster mac & cheese, and chicken. Everything caught from the sea almost. There is one line to get in. The line moves quickly. The workers in there were nice. I picked up a cod sandwich and an oyster po boy. The cod sandwich was stuffed with cod fillets. You have a choice of soft, mancini, or wheat bun. We were too embarassed to ask what the first two breads were. So, we chose the wheat bun for the cod sandwich. It was big and tasty. The oyster po boy was filled with oysters on a French baguette. It was a good sandwich. Since we were visiting, there was no need to check out the market. If I lived in the area, I think I would be here every week.

When we went out to Pittsburgh with our son Wifey and I had some time over the weekend to wander and explore. Even though we knew we weren't going to buy anything we wandered through Wholey's and it was Incredible. I've we lived here I guarantee I'd be a regular here.

SERVICE: Staff was cool and kept things moving. Parking is always rough as it's located downtown in the Strip District. Great market for frozen fresh seafood on the right and hot, ready to serve on the left side of the building with restaurant seating down below. Local favorite and a must try! Note, lines can be long sometimes pushing outside. FOOD: Fish was thick and delicious. I could have the flavor go up a hair but still good. WELL: Will definitely return for another fish sandwich and you should too!

Looking for lunch turned out to be a huge undertaking because queues were endless. Except here. It made me wonder if I wasn't aware of some known deficiency in their seafood. It's a two-part business, a fresh fish market on one side and a dining room and sushi bar on the other. The menu was initially overwhelming because food items were meticulously listed on several chalkboards arranged around the order space. There were lots of sushi options, but I wasn't in the mood and went for the $12 Fish Tacos, two of them with a combination of tuna, salmon, and swordfish encased in soft corn tortillas with tomato and cabbage (Photo 8). The people are friendly, but almost to a fault. Here's the thing: we all like friendly service, but not at the cost of efficiency. On the day of this review around 2:30-3:00 the lines were wrapping into the aisles with two checkers and not one single person leaving their stocking or their conversation to lend a hand. Piss poor teamwork and piss poor scheduling from management. However, it's those same staffers who saved this from being a 1-star review because I have never, ever been so close to such crotchety, bitchity, entitled customers. They were chewing out the poor people working the registers like it was a personal attack on their very important lives of being wretched people. Entitled a**holes who have never worked a day of customer service in their lives. While loading my groceries into the Lyft, some 859-year old Cryptkeeper-lookin' azz wanted to yell at us in her 5-pack-a-day sandpaper screech that we were taking too long (2 minutes). I reminded the Lyft driver that she would die well before both of us. If that's what I had to put up with every day, I wouldn't want to work there either.
