With reasonable prices you can go plain Jane, nova sandwich, egg and sausage, etc. The only thing to complain about is the wait can be hefty on weekends. What a delightful little place. I'd think I was charmed to be in on a secret, but given the long lines that stuff the place at the oddest hours, in reality I'm late to the game. I love their bagels. Specifically the Everything. Its the absolute best that I've ever had. The thing I drive from 20 minutes away, often, is the Meat Egg n Cheese toasted. Bacon and cheddar. Omg. Its so delicious mouth watering just writing this. The bagels are perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect fluffiness and density. Staff are also really great. We used to get Wholy Bagel at my old job on some Fridays for breakfast but I've since moved on from there and working in south Austin so I don't get many chances to have Wholy Bagel. From the phone call to pick up, I wasn't impressed with the service or payment process. I wanted to do something nice for my team and pick up breakfast for everyone so I decided to give this place a shot. I called in to place an order. Pretty simple-a dozen bagels with cream cheese etc...I asked how much the cream cheese was and immediately received attitude from the other end of the phone. The place was obviously busy, I could hear lots of noise on the other end. I tried to keep my questions short-but I've never done business with this place before and wanted to know how the pick up order process worked, what I could add to my order to make this even more special for my team. The lady on the phone had ZERO interest in helping me navigate my choices. So I drove 30 minutes to this location to find a line out the door (which is fine-must be yummy, right?) There's no structure when you walk in. It's chaotic. Which again-IS FINE. What's not fine is when I went to the counter to ask where I pick up my to-go order this broad had the audacity to cut me off and say "I'll call your name but I'm not ready for that yet." Sooooo I took my place in line and waited. No politeness, no chill, no kindness. Eventually they called my name and I took a chance and asked if they offered coffee for big groups as well. With a sigh and delayed response she said "Yes." And offered no other information. The bagels are good. At least to my standard. Wholy Bagel has quickly become my favorite bagel place in Austin (though there aren't exactly many to choose from) I am also a big fan of Rock Star Bagels, but the reason that Wholy Bagel is my favorite is their wide selection of bagel varieties, and they carry white fish salad, which pretty much no one else does. I think I may have had white fish salad at the Biderman's downtown, but if I remember correctly it sort of had an odd sweet flavor that I am not used to when it comes to white fish salad. They are also the only place in town that has true Bialy. The thing to remember though is that if you want to be guaranteed to have your choice of bagel, you do need to get there earlier in the day. The closer to lunch/closing time, the smaller the selection of bagels becomes (which is just because of how popular they are) My go to is a Salt Bagel, with white fish salad, red onion and tomato. The Rosemary salt bagel at Rock Star is very good, but it is not the traditional salt bagel I grew up with in NY. They also have about 12 other bagel options (maybe more) so if a salt bagel isn't your thing, no need to worry. They have you covered. Considering how busy they tend to be, I have always found their customer service friendly, and their speed at getting orders out, very efficient. I probably go here at least once every couple of weeks. If you are on the South side of time and looking for a bagel, this is the place to go. Really, unless you are very close to Rock Star, this is the only Bagel place worth going to. read more

I was in Austin for a weekend for a wedding and decided to stop at Wholy after arriving at the airport, and I'm glad this was my stop. Everything bagel with hatch pepper schmear (this Texas native had been missing certain Texas-y things she can't get in Nashville), lox, capers, tomato, and onion. Classic and delicious. There aren't many places to sit, but most people just pop in for their bagel to take home. I, however, grabbed a bar stool, ate my bagel, and read my book for 20 minutes. Perfect morning. read more
