Wow,best airport food ever. I highly recommend the soba, which is a hot bowl of buckwheat noodle soup with all kinds of yummy mushrooms and vegetables. I also had the Asian salad to go. Not sure I'll get the banana roll dessert to go, as this is best freshly made. This is as close to fine dining Japanese food at an airport as you can get. When you sit at the bar you can see the sushi chef freshly cutting the sashimi and seafood. The servers at the bar are responsive. There's even an assortment of soju and sake. Good assortment of beer bottles and cans as well. This is my new go to for O'Hare airport and will do the trek to get to terminal 2. Thank God that the food comes out quick. Such a refreshing oasis to have in an airport! I sat at the bar and the whole experience was so pleasant that it was just a very nice break from the exhausting travel. I had the "hot night out" roll and greentea tiramisu. The rolls were priced as those in an upscale restaurant. But since the quality was good and not small, I would consider them reasonable. A decent, more upscale choice than the usual airport food court type offerings. That said, it's only average as a sushi place. I had a spicy tuna roll and a couple pieces of Maguro nigiri. Both were ok but the rice with the nigiri just fell apart when I tried to pick it up with the chopsticks. The roll was fine but small for the price. I did enjoy the quite hot wasabi paste though. I must admit, eating sushi in an airport has never appealed to me, but I was really fiending for some sushi while waiting 2 hours for my flight. So I tried Wicker Park and was surprised. While it wouldn't make my top 10, the sushi was decent (although pricey). Alright, I did the Spanish dynamite like every other Yelper...it's fine. Sliced jalapeño, ponzu, blah blah blah... Skinny Buddha cocktail is friggin fantastic. Hendricks premium gin and sake? Yes, please! That cocktail is the only reason I stuck around. I'd like to say I saw the three sushi chefs sharing a banana before I started eating, but I didn't. Here's an understandable pet peeve: people who handle my food during/after eating their own! Yes, fingers were licked and only of of them washed his hands... Sigh...maybe sushi doesn't make people sick, sushi chefs do? Unfortunately, poor food safety doesn't seem to be the exception to the rule. From my vantage point at the bar, I also spied servers snacking on edamame in between tables. I really don't need to go on, but it took way too long to get a refill on this cocktail when the party next to me is getting actively served. However, I give my server the benefit of the doubt since I'm immersed in my phone most of the time. So, for you tempura lovers, here's an FYI. Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi does not have a fryer. The taste of food is not worth its price at all. It tastes cheap and not fresh. Also I was the first customer in the morning when there were very few people. but I waited for half an hour just for three pieces of sashimi. I finally got it after I asked the waitress the status of my order, and was told it was missed by staffs making the food. Before that the waitress didn't pay attention to my order.. I loved stopping by this place and feeling like I was at a real sushi restaurant in the middle of an airport. The atmosphere is awesome compared to other airport restaurants - lounge chairs by the wall of windows. Bonus points for an entertaining waiter. The spicy tuna roll = delicious. Salmon roll was so so. The only part of the meal I did not approve of was the 'spider roll', which was a breaded crab leg, avocado and spicy mayo roll. I ordered it without the asparagus and they were nice enough to accommodate. The breaded crab leg was truly weird, though. It was chewy and had a sort of odd earthy flavor to it. Great place for sushi in the airport (maybe the only one). Don't expect extremely fresh fish that still tastes like the ocean when biting into it though, You are at the airport and in Illinois. Service was quicker than other locations and there is a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. Had the spicy sushi and the amount of spiciness to it catered well enough to give the flavor if tuna still. If you are looking for a light or healthier alternative to an airport meal, I'd recommend here. Glad I watched my good being made be a use a nasty server (not mine) just walked by, sneezed in his hands and rubbed them together as to "spread the wealth" in his hands. GROSS!! Fair, at best. I wasn't bothered by the airport pricing but the quality of the sushi wasn't great. Small portions and the meat didn't look that fresh. Taste was average- not bad, but definitely not great. Also, should have been warned away by the fishy smell as you approached down the terminal. Service was good and the food arrived quickly but I'd take a solid pass on this one in the future. read more

Surreal experience... I was seated at the bar near the place the wait staff order and collect meals.... the interactions between the Anglo wait staff and the Asian sushi chefs was disturbing. Good food, but service took a nosedive. I ate at Wicker Park on their first day open! It was great. The waitstaff alone made it more attractive than other restaurants in the terminal, but service has plummeted to mediocre, lackluster, and ordinary. I usually eat here once a month when going through ORD. Still good food, but declining waitstaff training makes it feel pedestrian. Update (Aug 2012): Yet another visit proved fast and easy service. I could see the waitstaff fretting about, so I was afraid of the table service. I ate at the bar, which is uncomfortable compared to a table, but it worked well. A good combination would be a comfortable dining experience (seated at a table) combined with prompt service (waitstaff). Resting between terminal 1 and 2 it is as far as I know (no expert on this airport) the only restaurant of this type. With a full bar and at airport prices at least it offers something different than the common hamburger and pizza places. The menu is not very extensive since it is inside an airport terminal but it offers a full bar and good service. The sushi itself is not the best, for some reason is always difficult for that to happens inside an airport, if they are good by any stretch they are probably much better on their location outside the airport. Though fresh sushi their offering is far from original playing it safe with the lost common rolls. You won't be disappointed but you won't be trilled either. It is definitely a nice option in an airport crowded with hamburgers and fries. read more

If you're going to pay high prices for food at the airport anyways, you might as well get high quality food and service!!! This is the only place in an airport that made me think, "the next time I'm traveling, I'm going to get to the airport even earlier so I can eat here again." I wanted to like this place and to be sure there were a couple of positives, but there were just too many negatives to say it was a good experience. I ordered two rolls and a single order of sashimi a la carte. The sashimi was good, however the soy sauce that they use is some low sodium variety that they have kicking around in an unbranded bottle. I don't know what it was exactly, but it tasted like extremely watered down soy sauce, very little flavor at all. Unfortunately it really took away from the sashimi which in and of itself was good. The rolls were very pedestrian, nothing to get in any way excited about. I would not be surprised to find an equivalent quality roll in my local grocery store. Coupled with the weak soy sauce and it was barely edible. To top it all off, I was very thirsty and drank probably four glasses of water which required me to spend half of my time here flagging down the bartender who walked right by me an average of 5 or 6 times before realizing that I was trying to get his attention. On a positive note that meant I spent less time thinking about the food. I know it's airport sushi, but based on decent reviews and some awards they've won for airport dining I expected more. I enjoyed the beer, though I can't say I the same for the roll: sushi rice and nori were soggy and had no flavour, and the wasabi, ginger and salmon did not look, feel, or taste fresh at all. Lets start with the bloody Mary. mind you I had the so-called world famous bloody Mary in the Vegas airport and this bloody Mary was easily better. It was delicious and made very well. The miso soup was also very tasty. The Hawaiian rolls is why I gave this 4 and not 5 stars. If you have a leisurely long layover at the O'hare airport this is a great spot to skill some time and have a bite. The sushi is good. I had the veggie roll and spicy tuna roll. For $7 and $9 per roll I found the prices to be fair. I had the 10 oz pour of hot sake with it and found my overall lunch experience to be great. With good views and tables that have outlets I was able to enjoy sushi, sake, and my favorite podcast while waiting for my connecting flight. read more

It's convenient and relatively quick, prices are a bit high as it is an airport version. Food is average nothing fancy but not bad sushi either. Standard rolls average 8-10 and speciality 17+ for non vegetarian. It's an airport so it was decent for locale and convenience. read more

I'm really skeeved out about sushi that's landlocked. But figured since it has to get flown in, this sushi has to be as fresh as you can get here. It was a walk from my gate but I had about an hour to kill, trust me, if you are a sushi lover this is your spot. This has to be some of the freshest fish I've ever had. Come here even if you aren't in the mood for sushi, you won't be disappointed. They have amazing teriyaki chicken salad and a bunch of other stuff. I ordered Toro, hamachi, and tamago nigiri. Everyone else's rolls and food looked amazing. The only thing that I didn't like was their cocktail menu, the server also wasn't aware of any other cocktails I could have ordered off menu. This place is amazing! (Especially the bartender Tomas). I'm not sure what any negative reviews are about... for sushi at the airport it is so good! Sushi was fine, but I found the hostess very rude. I placed my order originally as to go, and maybe a minute later I asked her if I could change that to eat at the bar. She proceeded to make it such a big deal and that I "could" but I would be taking the set of someone who would request to sit at the bar. At which point there was no one behind me... so it doesn't make sense. She then said I could eat out of the to go container at the bar and that my stuff was already in the to go package. I didn't like her attitude at all and I really doubt she did anything to change how I got my order. read more

I consistently stop here on my layovers, sushi has always been solid. Like others indicated service can be meh/good. Sushi is a bit overpriced with the specialty rolls but the more traditional rolls seem in line price wise. This is the best option for food in O'Hare. P.S.
