For airport sushi, it's pretty decent. The fancy shrimp tempura roll is my favorite here. I'm not a fan of the California roll. You can get it to go within 20 min (or less). The servers are pretty unfriendly until you're ready to check out, so don't be alarmed, but you'll get a smile eventually. This is my go to place in ORD for food. read more

I was really disappointed with my experience here. When they brought out my food, the plates were dirty, and I had to ask for new ones. Instead of proper replacements, they just gave me plastic plates. The food itself was okay, but definitely not worth $50. For that price, I expected better quality and at least clean dishes. I had a roughly 3 hour layover at Chicago O'Hare. I had talked to my brother about wanting to get a nice lunch between flights and he had a few suggestions. However, sushi just sounded perfect. You walk up to a bar/restaurant with very clean lines, a white marble bar with ample seating and a few tables to the left. I was waited on by Justine. She was very relaxed and made you feel right at home. She was attentive, but not overly so. I didn't feel rushed in any way and got to eat and enjoy my sushi without worrying that I had to catch my flight or hurry up so the next patron could have my seat. I had the Geisha Roll here. This was good sushi. Not super gourmet, but absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was rolled well with the right amount of filling, the seafood was fresh, and the flavours were nice. The prices could have been out of any good sushi restaurant; they weren't cheap but weren't the exorbitant airport prices I was expecting (my roll was $21). I guess in the "real world" I might take off a star for $$ but I'll let it slide in the airport. The roll was the standard size for a special 8 piece roll. My waitress was also very nice, attentive but patient when I needed an extra minute to decide what to order. This was one of the busiest food places that we walked past in the O'Hare airport. It was self seating but once we took a few steps in, a staff member guided us to a table. We both ordered a salmon poke with hot sauce on the side. The salmon was incredibly fresh. We were really impressed. Service was also prompt and the staff were all so kind. read more

Normally, I have enough self-respect to not eat at a phony sushi restaurant, let alone at an airport one, but at the same time I am not one to argue. When my co-workers decided on "sushi" I went along knowing full well in advance that I will not like it and that they probably have a few items that will allow me to gulp down something without having their phony sushi. This is another location in an international airport owned by the Conglomerate HMS Host. They had the standard issue California rolls and spicy this, spicy that rolls (things no one in Japan has heard of) and, of course, because we are dumb the Chinese waitress and Chinese 'sushi chef' because the presence of an East Asian is supposed to signal to us that this place is really Japanese. Now, 90% of East Asians have as much knowledge of and expertise in sushi as a Conservative does in family values, law and order or sanity, but hey the fake Japanese cheesecake shops around me are all staffed by Chinese/Filipino/Thai employees and never a Caucasian or other non-Asians. Enough said. My friends ordered 'sushi' and seemed to like it (or they were hungry enough to finish it). My shrimp salad was generous enough as far as portions went and came with three jumbo shrimps. The greens were quite dry so I used all my tangy sauce for it. The order came quickly enough (likely because they care enough to know that layovers are likely rushing passengers) and the seats were comfortable. The waitress scolding a young man who plumped himself down next to us to enjoy his Big Mac was the evening's entertainment. We came in for a drink while waiting for our flight. The bartender was really nice and on top of orders. He wore his mask the whole time as well. They have a decent selection for an airport bar. I ordered the altitude cab and my husband ordered a Goose Island IPA. They have 6 different red wine choices, 3 white wines, 4 bottled beers, 2 canned beers, and 2 tap beers. They weren't serving food at 10:30 but I would have loved to try their sushi! It was socially distant because not many people were sitting at the bar but I'm not sure if that's enforced when it's busier or not. Giving one star for not getting me sick and one star for being in the airport for options. This is in the hallway between Terminal 1 and 2. There was a line for to go but no one was taking any order. Sit down for food before to go even placed their order. None of the staff had smile or greeted the customer regardless sit down or to go. The price is expensive even for the airport. I ordered a tuna poke bowl to go, which involved waiting for 10 minutes before someone even greeted me another another 10 minutes for getting my food. The bowl was so salty drenched in sauce and the rice wasn't fully cooked through. It was chewy but still has that last bite of hardness. I'm a big fan of the food offerings at the sit-down locations at O'Hare. Wicker Park is one I try to hit-up if I fly United. This time they were super busy, but I snagged a table and ordered a mojito to start. I went with the seaweed salad and a shrimp tempura roll and both were great! This was a find in airport cuisine that I was not expecting, at least not in Illinois! Ironically, was on my way back from Japan when I wandered down this end of the airport in search of food. Maybe I was still in the mood for something like this because of my trip, but none of the other choices (all good ones) tickled my fancy that day. Seemed a little weird to be eating sushi literally in the middle of the concourse but it was convenient because my gate was literally 15 feet away from my table. Only problem was that the seats on the outside of the restaurant share a seat back with the chairs for people waiting at the gate; several times people flopped down into their side of their chair and about bounced me out of my side. Can't blame them... they are too tired to think about it. The food here was great (not as fresh as in Japan but it's hard to compete on that level), and the service was courteous and fast. Prices were a little higher than "normal" but you have to expect that in an airport. I went with what I assume was the most popular item on the menu, the Tiger Roll, and was not disappointed. It was the standard size roll that you get in most places, and was tasty enough that I wanted more. Alas, I had a plane to catch. But only after I finished my Asahi Super Dry. My recommendation? I travel frequently for work through ORD and a few times have had a gate near this restaurant. Today I decided to sit down and try a roll and a drink. Upon realizing that a cocktail (vodka tonic) would be $25 I decided to just order a coke. That's insane for a drink even in an airport. I got my roll which was fine, and it came out quickly and I had no problems with it. Where things went south was when I went to leave I was cornered by a waitress who accused me of leaving without paying my bill. I had used the online QR code to order and pay and apparently the payment didn't go all the way through even though it said complete on my phone. She just kept saying " I know you aren't trying to leave without paying me, we will call security if you try to leave again" I explained and showed complete payment on my phone and she said it wasn't paid on her register and I tried to skip on the bill. Mind you I had my credit card in my hand the entire time and said multiple times, I apologize it didn't go through, I wasn't trying skip out without paying the bill and here's my card. I was absolutely disgusted with her behavior, there was no apology for aggressively coming at me not to mention rude comments and dirty looks. Airport sushi is a bit of an oxymoron, like "military intelligence" or "jumbo shrimp". I decided to take the risk and try Wicker Park between terminal 1 and 2 at O'Hare and I'm glad I did. The rolls and sashimi were surprisingly fresh. The service was quick, and the ambiance was very good for an airport. I'll drop a star for a couple mediocre menu selections. The edamame was lifeless and a very small portion, and the oysters were as plane as a 737 (an airport metaphor I couldn't resist, but probably should have). The overall experience would be above average anywhere, but compared to the other options at O'Hare it is well above average and worth the "sushi tax" and higher price than a Vienna Beef-ish dog a couple steps further down the concourse. read more

When stranded at the airport for 4 hours, let your sister pick out the most expensive bar/restaurant in O'Hare and let her pay for most of your purchases. Things I liked: The service unlike what people say was great. We were constantly paid attention to but we also came here at 11ish am (hey, it was noon on the east coast) and it was relatively empty. Nice sleek bar though with a relaxed atmosphere, looks out to the wide open windows. The drinks were fairly strong. I ordered a Skinny Buddah that had both sake and gin in it. Things I didn't like: The martini I ordered was $15 or $16. Okay, yes, this is an airport. It would have been nice if the cocktails and beers had the prices listed in the menu. It did for the wine and all of the food so I'm not sure what happened on that next page. I should have gone with beer if I wanted to be cheap but that's still pretty insane. Things I liked again: The warm sake was a pretty good deal. $6 for a smaller version and $9 for the larger. The small was pretty big and provided several pours. The quality of the sushi was just a-okay. Which ultimately is why it's a 3 star experience. My sister commented that she's even had better sushi down south in the boondocks of Louisiana. We went with the Spanish Dynamite roll (Yellowtail, shallot, mixed spicy crab, tuna, jalapeno, cilantro, ponzu sauce). I'm not even quite sure if all of these different species of fish made it in. I tasted mostly jalapeno and cilantro, drowning in ponzu and stale rice. Not worth the $17 and was thinking we either should have gone the rainbow roll or smaller rolls route. They do have lunch special deals for under $10 but that's mostly on their udon soups and I saw other flyers eating lunch and the soup looked sad. Would I come here again if killing time in O'hare? Two older women servers/waitresses were very rude and condescending. The first server was annoyed we sat in a table for 4 people (that's because we always order a lot of food), told us we will need to move if they get busy. And that was a big IF. No problem we will move IF needed. It wasn't busy at all. Like 6 customers. We decided to leave since she was annoyed she had to help us two that were seated at 4 person table because she didn't offer us any water or help like she did the customers next to us that got there AFTER we did. On our way out, I see one of the original guys that told us to sit anywhere and told them what happened. They were VERY NICE and understanding and called the manager. They apologized for the awful server and said "I'm sorry, she's always like this". I'm happy to know it's not us and it's always her. Then another woman server tells the guys "why are you guys even getting involved? We are a team". I told her we weren't talking to her, but she insists on giving her two cents. As we were waiting for the manager, the first angry woman server, laughed at us and asked why are we still here. WTF?!?! She has real issues and she's the problem that no one can solve. I feel bad for her coworkers and manager that they have to deal with someone so rude and unhappy. I pray she finds happiness, so she can be nicer to people. Otherwise, she needs to find a new job, maybe not in customer service. The manager was very nice and understanding. But I hope they help these two unhappy women. Everyone has a bad day and I don't know what's going on personally, but if you're coworker/colleague says "she's always like this". Then there's something within that she needs help with. This stylish restaurant catches my eye every time I walk through O'Hare, and I was so excited to finally check it out. One of the most important things to me about airport dining is the speed of service, and Wicker Park Sushi passed the test with its prompt service and to-go options. I had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but food arrived quickly (by sit-down restaurant standards). Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by the sushi quality here. None of the fish in the nigiri sampler I ordered tasted particularly fresh, and the rice was much too warm for my liking. The roll, oysters, and green tea tiramisu were alright, but there really wasn't anything distinctive or memorable. The worst part was the bill, which turned out to be $90+ dollars (partially my fault for ordering $21 oysters). This spot in O'Hare is conveniently centrally located and very open- so you can't miss it. There's really nice seating at this restaurant too, with stylish decor and ambiance. The service is pretty slow though, especially for an airport spot. It took us a while to order and get our food and drinks. I got a glass of Chardonnay to go down with my sushi meal. It was a nice refreshing touch to the sushi entree that I got. This came with a nice salad, and I replaced the california roll with a spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna roll wasn't that great- too much rice, but the sashimi was fairly fresh and average. I also ordered a seaweed salad, as I do with all sushi meals. This was pretty standard and tasty. However, I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with this spot. Rolls ran from around $11 for standard to $19ish for specialty, which is close to what good sushi costs outside an airport anyhow.
