Finally. After repeated trips though O'Hare I finally duping good food. Wicker Park is a Chiquita little waypoint between B and F terminals. Being a sushi joint I bet my credit card they actually have decent food. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken salad. It came with a rather large chicken breast, baby greens, shredded cabbage, daikon, and a yummy sesame ginger dressing. I devoured it. Full stop. It was that good. Greens were fresh. This was my second time stopping here to eat while I waited for my flight. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go back. Service - great service. I have sat at the bar both times here and the server/bartender is always right there when you need anything. They are very polite and don't hover around you waiting for you to order or pay. This is always great since I generally have some time to kill and enjoy reading a book while I eat. Food - they have a large food selection and the sushi rolls are a decent size. I ordered the edamame and Wicker Park roll on this occasion. The roll was just OK. It didn't have as much flavor as I assumed it would so I wouldn't recommend it. The Eel Roll (eel, cucumber, avocado, and unagi sauce) and Rainbow Roll tasted fresh and satisfying. The two rolls that really stood out were the Spanish Dynamite Roll (yellowtail, shallot, crab, tuna, jalapeno, and cilantro) and Hot Night Roll (shrimp tempura, tuna, sriracha, spicy radish, and scallions) with just the right amount of spice. I wish I could have them again. Everything thus far got us so excited that we ordered all 3 desserts on their menu which fell right into step with their theme: The Green Tea Tiramisu served refreshingly frozen, Banana Roll (banana, chocolate, strawberries, and whipped cream in soypaper), and Maui Roll (papaya, mango, coconut, coconut milk, and pineapple in soypaper) were all major parties in my mouth. I was in Chicago I'Hare International Airport for four hours on layover and came across Wicker Park Sushi. I'm surprised with some of these poor reviews, because we had an excellent experience. Service was awesome, and the chefs were super-quick in making our sushi. My friend and I split a bottle of rosé and four sushi rolls which was a ton of food. We ordered the Hawaiian roll, tenderloin roll, red dragon roll, and Spanish dynamite. The Hawaiian roll's sauce was a bit too sweet for my tastes. I probably wouldn't order the tenderloin roll again as it was over-cooked for my liking (of medium-rare steak). The red dragon and Spanish dynamite were delicious. My server was also non-existence. My water glass was empty for the majority of the time. I ordered half dozen oysters and the poke (I ordered no rice but it came with rice anyway). Half dozen oysters: Very bland! No oyster taste whatsoever. I suspect that they rinse the oysters very heavily after opening them, which is a big no-no. $21 for 6 oysters that don't even taste like oysters? I don't know. Tuna and tako (octopus) Poke: the seasoning was good, a tad too spicy for me. However this Poke is a whopping $19. Honestly, there are better poke at half the price elsewhere. $14 I can imagine considering the restaurant is inside the airport, but $19 for that portion? A little steep.
