I've had really great experience with their service team for the three years I've taken my wife's car here. They're always up front about how long each repair will take and they consistently honor appointment times (which so many other dealerships don't do). If I have an oil change appointment, they have the car back to me in about a half hour, including their inspection of all key components. Can't ask for much more than that. Purchasing a car at Wickstrom was fun and the staff was just the right about of helpful without being pushy. The service on the other hand has left me very far from impressed on MULTIPLE occasions. Consistently telling me what I "want" to hear and not doing anything close to it. Nobody knowing how to work on my car and treating me like it's my problem for buying that car, it's a VW and I bought I bought it there. If they don't know how to work on it they either need to learn or tell me to go somewhere else instead of dragging me along. I've waited for my car to get "serviced" for hours at a time only to leave disappointed because as I stated before, they never do what they say they are going to do. I don't if it's because they don't know how or because they don't care, or because they don't have time. Either way, I am VERY unhappy. Today was the LAST straw. What happened could have EASILY been saved if they knew anything about customer service. Unfortunately all they could muster was "I'm very sorry" sorry doesn't fix my car or give me the hour and a half back that I spent waiting for something only to leave empty handed. What they told me "I'm sorry, the job is more complicated than we thought. It's going to take longer. We don't have time today. We will pull your car around" What they should have said, "I'm sorry, we didn't realized that this job was as complicated as it was. We would love to fix it for you but it will not be completed today. We can set you up with a rental car and have your car fixed later this week, or we can reschedule this appointment." Then given me some sort of deal (a free car wash or oil change) for wasting an hour and a half of my time. They didn't offer to reschedule, they don't want to fix my car even though.. it's their job. If I asked them to make me a cup of coffee and they said no I would understand, but I asked them to fix a problem on my car that I purchased from THEM. After the issue was explained in full detail to the mechanic... and I was told no. I do not understand. Despite WIckstrom being conveniently close to my home and work, I will be taking my vehicle elsewhere. read more

I inquired about a used vehicle via the Wickstrom's website and setup an appointment to view the vehicle. Shortly after the dealership opened (9:09 AM) this morning, a sales rep contacted me about my interest in the vehicle. I asked, "do you still have the vehicle" and he responded "yes, are you still coming in at 11AM today to see it?". After driving 60 miles from my home to the dealership, I come to find that the sales rep apparently went home sick and the vehicle that I came in to see was sold two days ago. No, I'm NOT interested in anything else!!!!! Thanks for wasting my time and gas!!! Now, 8 hours later, the vehicle is still listed on their website. Used car sales tactics still have not changed at Wickstrom! Let it be known!!!! read more

I'm a bit late doing this review since I bought the car in July. Our experience here what a car buying experience should be. I was in the market for Mustang for about six months. I wasn't sure if I wanted new or used, but I knew, and was very upfront with the dealerships I spoke to, that I could not finalize a deal until I sold the condo we owned. Wickstrom stood out among the other dealers for providing information and also not applying pressure. Not once did I get the "you must sign now!" thing that I saw from other dealers. When the condo was near to closing, I came in and drove a couple of cars (and did the same at a few other dealers). My son and I loved a 2015. preferring it over the new. Again, no pressure. I told them the condo would close on a certain day, and then I would be back in. After the condo closed, I brought my wife in (she had not been in prior, relying upon my son and me to provide information) We knew that this would be primarily my car (she drives a Mercedes SUV) but she still wanted to make sure we did our due diligence. She spent about 20 minutes asking the salesman detailed questions about the differences between the 2015 and the 2019 until she was comfortable with my preference (It has to be a team decision. She and I both needed to agree). Throughout that process, the staff was great. Answered the questions, no pressure, and the price was good. Nearly six months later, we are thrilled with the car. Our Mercedes SUV is starting to get old, and we now looking at Ford SUVs in part because we found a dealer we know we can trust. read more

Love this place. I talked on the phone and emailed Charlie with questions for weeks before purchasing my car. He was informative, patient, and not pushy. He did not forget about me, and would email me as the car I wanted and the specs I wanted came into stock. I never had to remind him, he remembered on his own. He did not ask me about financing, or trim, or anything stupid like that the moment I walked in the door. He was not snobby (I came to the dealership in a 10 year old beat up Toyota Corolla). He was a slight pain when it came to negotiations - we had already agreed upon a number, and then he came back with a HIGHER one. What?! But he backed off quickly when I came back with a LOWER number in response. I am a young minority female, and he never behaved in a racist or sexist manner, or even a condescending manner despite my endless questions about the car, car maintenance, and other minute issues. Perfect gentleman. Buy your car here, from Charlie. I'll definitely go here first when I need to replace my current car. Note: I went in for one car service, and it was great, the staff were super nice. But the service was a routine oil change, and included with the purchase of the car. I'll update my review when I need to pay for my next service. As they say, sales wins customers, and service loses them. Only time will tell. read more

Great overall experience!! We Bought a F150 and love it. Defiantly ask for Nick Wilfinger. There's nothing better when shopping for a car and meeting a salesman that really listens to what you want and shows you all your options without any of the dreaded typical sales antics. We went on a Saturday mid morning and the dealer was quite busy. Even with the "crowd" the whole buying process was very smooth. While waiting for our paperwork we were given a tour of the customer lounge and service areas. Very nice lounge for being at a car dealer! They have plenty of seating with 3 dedicated flat screens that show a live feed of their crew working in the oil change/service area. They also had a few other flat screens for just watching TV. Another nice perk was they had Macs and PC stations set up for customers to browse the internet. Out in the service bay area there's a customer soda fountain and a small coffee bar featuring the ever popular Starbucks. read more

BAIT AND SWITCH! My husband found an ad online for a 2018 Ford Explorer (including the VIN number) for 37,000.00 plus a 2000.00 discount. I went into the dealership, was greeted by Robert Palazzo and helped by Nathan Noffs. Nathan pulled up the VIN number and we test drove the car. Nathan then told me that the MSRP for the car was 45,000.00. I left the dealership and went home to tell my husband. My husband called Nathan back, and questioned him about the price discrepancy. Nathan said he would look into it. 10 minutes later Nathan called back and left a message on the home phone saying that the 37,000.00 price was for a different car. He proceeded to change the online ad. I called Robert Palazzo and left a voice mail asking him to call me back. He never did. What a surprise. read more

The car buying experience is usually stressful for me, and often results in a slight headache in the end. My experience at Wickstrom Ford in Barrington was completely different. Upon walking in, I was promptly greeted by a younger guy named Mitch. I told Mitch C. that I was only looking. He said, "Great, if you have any questions or if there is anything you want to see just let me know." I like being left alone for a little to walk around on my own and think. My usual experience is with an overly aggressive salesman following me around the dealership. Mitch left me alone to do my thing which I greatly appreciated. After 15 minutes, I found Mitch to take a car for a test drive. He thoroughly pointed out all the features of the car. He was extremely knowledgeable on the product he sells and was quick to answer any questions I had. Here comes the most stressful part. The financial stuff. I walked away confident that I got the best deal possible. I highly recommend this Ford dealership. If you stop in and a guy in a suit randomly starts up a conversation with you, it's probably one on the Wickstroms. They definitely aren't absentee owners. They are usually available to talk to their customers. The service department guys are great. I haven't had any major problems with my car so far. All repairs have been done in the time and price as quoted. If they go over the quoted time, a loaner car has been provided. The finance guys were great also! I have dealt with Rob P. and Eugene H. They are both extremely knowledgeable about the financial particulars of car buying. I didn't have a single question after talking to them. Everything was explained clearly. They were also very quick to get the paperwork in order. They made this part almost painless. My experience with Wickstrom Ford has been top notch so far.
