I came here with a big group of about 30 for a work dinner and we were given a limited menu. This was totally understandable due to the size of our party but I was bummed because I had heard the prime rib was amazing and I couldn't try it. Our set menu was either steak or walleye with a baked potato and salad. I got the steak and it was cooked well but not a lot of flavor. The baked potato and salad were delicious. I'll definitely be back to try this place when I can choose what I want. Price was decent and ambiance and service was great! read more

Leaving the same review as I did on google because it was really THAT bad Went here for my husbands birthday dinner - extremely disappointing. The food was underwhelming and expensive. We had the prime rib, steak, chicken and ribs and the mini hamburger. The only meal eaten was the mini hamburger. The rest of the meals lacked seasoning, no flavor whatsoever. I am completely shocked to see all of the rave reviews. We were really looking forward to dinner. We spent $180 and left unsatisfied and hungry. This place is awesome! We were seated right away, and our server, Mary, was right there asking about drink orders. She explained the menu, highlighted the homemade soup and salad dressings. She suggested drinks. The food? Out of this world! My baked potato came out steaming with nice soft skins and done perfectly. Our steak and prime rib were done to perfection and so tender we almost didn't need a knife. There were extras (like a relish tray), fresh rolls and garlic toast. We drove 100 miles to try this place, and we will be back. It was absolutely delicious! read more

We had never eaten at a supper club before and we enjoyed the experience! First of all, when the website recommends reservations, they mean it. We had reservations for 4:30pm on a Saturday, right when they opened, and we were surprised to be in a long line. When we were seated, our dining room was very soon 2/3 full, and it didn't take long for it to fill up the rest of the way. The ambience is truly something. We are in our 40s, and this place is a total flashback to the fancy restaurants of our 1980s youth. It is delightful. The servers were fantastic--we were never left wanting, and they were non-stop busy; there were two very large parties seated nearby, and I could see they were being taken well care of. We started off with drinks. I had an Ace Pear Cider while my husband had a beer. We ordered the walleye bites appetizer, in part because we just moved to the state and hadn't had the famed walleye yet. The appetizer was delicious--I will definitely be eating more walleye in the future! I ordered the filet mignon while my husband ordered the large prime rib. The side salads came out next; they consisted of iceberg lettuce and were basic but good. Along with that was a kind of snacky carb boat with two hot rolls, club crackers, and small, crisp breadsticks. Butter was alongside. There was also what was described as a relish tray, but was not what I think of as relish, but some ice cubes keeping cold olives and carrot and celery sticks. The main entrees came out with perfect timing. Both are dishes were nicely cooked and seasoned. I really enjoyed the mushrooms that came with mine. I also had a baked potato, while my husband had crinkle cut fries. We finished things off with dessert: hot chocolate fudge cake ala mode. It was quite good. The cake was so thick that it really needed the ice cream (or maybe hot coffee or something else to enjoyably wash it down). Whenever we have family visit, this is the place we will bring them for a quintessential Midwest experience, unpretentious homecooked food, and a delightful time warp of a setting. read more

It's your typical looking supper club. Very nostalgic interior. We did make a reservation due to hearing it usually gets busy! They were short staffed so it took a bit for us to be seated. We got a few entrees from the menu. I had never been so wanted to try quite a few things! First you're served with a relish tray, rolls and some garlic toast. I didn't care for the garlic toast as it was incredibly salty but the rest of the party enjoyed it. We all got salads to start. Basic salad but delicious. I got the fried shrimp with a baked potato. Another person in the group got the fried walleye and another tried the ribs. The shrimp were fine, nothing spectacular. Ribs were so so. We can make better ones at home. The walleye was the best thing that we had that night. Waitress was good and attentive. Be mindful that the water they serve seems to be well water. I don't think for the price of everything it was worth it. It was fun to try out though! read more

Best prime my Husband has ever had! The tenderloin you could cut with a fork...it was absolutely delicious! Dense our server has worked here for 40 years and was wonderful! This place is very much the stereotypical boomer supper club with food that is sub-par by modern standards. The food overall was mediocre, the drinks were bad, but the service was excellent. To start, appetizers were heavily fried and tasted processed. The drink menu was small and very much unsatisfactory for modern mixology. We ordered an Old Fashioned and it had Sprite or Sierra Mist in it. The beer menu was non-existent, and they only had a couple macro brews on tap with one or two craft beers. In a state with 233 registered breweries, they have no excuse for not having more beers on tap. The only food that we got that was done well was the prime rib. Being that this is an old style supper club, it's expected that they would know how to do prime rib. Everything else was varying degrees of bland or disappointing. The fried chicken was flavorless and dry, it was clear that they didn't brine the chicken correctly, or at all. The breading fell off and also had no taste. Everything else was either mushy or unseasoned. We had a vegetarian in the group, and the only entrees available were a salad or a grilled cheese sandwich. Wiederholt's is a relic of the past, and as time progresses and their clientele passes, I suspect they're not going to last into the next generation unless they do drastic updating of their menu. I think people used to modern gastronomy are going to be very disappointed with this restaurant. As I said above, the only saving grace was the excellent service from the waitress. Let me start by saying, we love a good supper club. The nostalgia it evokes is heartwarming and memorable. Unfortunately, Wiederholt's needs to review their "it's the way we've always done it" and update some processes. The relish tray was not as fresh as the ice may say it is. Many brown spots and the vegetables appeared tired. Same can be said for the garden salad, which was prepped at who knows what time of day. We can appreciate the efficiencies in prepping for service but when presented at the table it appears tired and old. My husband and mother's steak was tasteless and my walleye was clearly not fresh. The service felt very rushed; trying to clear dishes before we were barely done eating. After receiving many recommendations for this place, we were excited to give this place a try but unfortunately will not be back. read more

I have been here several times and the food was amazing. This most recent visit on Monday, 7/8/2024 was extremely disappointing! Ordered my steak medium and it came out well done. I asked for another steak as it was inedible. When the new steak was received, it is cooked close to medium but it was rather tasteless. Others that had steak commented on the lack of flavor with their steaks. Shrimp was just OK. Walleye was undercooked. The waitress was amazing and did a great job. Reservations for 6:15, seated at 6:30, not too bad. Then it began seated at a wet table (I could live with that they were busy). No silverware, no menu, no water. 6:40 a staff member dropped off menus indicating our server would be there shortly, still no water or silverware. 6:45 flagged down a staff member and asked to see a manager. Manager shows up within minutes along with two waitstaff. I asked do you see silverware (nope) do you see water (nope) and menus just arrived minutes ago. He did ask what can we do to make this right and waitstaff scurried for water and silverware. Problem is I already told him what was wrong offering me a drink would not make poor service better. Only a hands on manager who made sure the dining room operated at peak would make things better. I told him that I did not want any thing other than good service. I will say from that point on the service was very good, the meal was excellent as usual. Overall initial service was beyond horrendous, that vastly improved after a chat with the manager. Food quality was excellent! Unfortunately for my "I just want good service" remark they bought off my co-diner with slices of pie. read more

A sad iceberg bagged salad mix on a plastic plate with a plastic cup of dressing, 1 tomato, 1 cucumber. Get rid of the plastic and up the lettuce quality. Not sure how you can be a steak house and not know how to cook steaks. All the steak we ordered were well done even though two ordered medium rare and one medium. The filet mignon was a terrible piece of meat. The shrimp cocktail was not good as well. The waitress offered me a new steak, and it was worse the first terrible steak. So many other better places than this. I will also add the server didn't think it was a big deal, and no owner bothered to come to the table to say they felt bad about the experience. The service was wonderful. Server was attentive, quick and just all around nice person. We were very disappointed in the food. We have been to Wiederholts many times and have always loved the food. I was served iced tea that tasted rancid. I told the server so they knew not to serve it to others. I ordered prime rib and potato soup. The soup was hot in places but cold in other places. A good mixing made it lukewarm. My prime rib was so very disappointing as it was tasteless. There was no crust on it My husband had steak and scallops. His steak was cooked just right but he also said his was tasteless. Almost as if non of the food was seasoned. Not sure if there are new cooks or what. Our bill came to $94. This spot is excellent! A classic supper club setting, with a proper supper club experience. After ordering the Prime Rib, the waiter informed me it came with a salad with a choice of dressing. I chose the French/Blue Cheese mixed dressing, and I'd highly recommend you do the same! It comes with a variety of garlic breads, and your choice of potato. I did a baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar. Last, the main course, which I ordered medium rare and arrived perfectly cooked. I was so happy with dinner and usually I'm not a huge dessert person, but their Ice Cream Cocktails are a must. I had the Brandy Alexander which I highly recommend, but I also tried the Grasshopper, and it great as well! All in all, fantastic spot and will definitely be back! read more

Need a reservation for this fantastic restaurant. Arrived at 4:30 as we were traveling. Thought we could get in right away. Haha. One hour 45 minutes wait. We chose to have dinner at the bar. Bartenders were helpful and friendly. This is like the supper clubs of yesteryear but updated. Prime rib was tender, juicy and prepared to perfection. Drinks were flying out of the bar with interesting names. Waitstaff were so friendly even though they were extremely busy. We will be back but definitely with reservations. Hello Tom from Farmington writing a review and hope this reaches the owners of this establishment. Owned a restauran/bar and have catered to 900 Marines at a time.... This Mothers day was just premeditated failure.... Ramekins were just half stick of frozen butter(could't have spread it on the three mini buns and what happend to a lil work and do some compound honey butter? Not that hard) . salad... no blue cheese dressing available? WTH!...Salad had no cheese,croutons,onions/etc. just a cucumber slice and one uncut cherry tomato...). Had the fried chicken and ribs... 4 bones on ribs(GOOD!) but absolutely NO FLAVOR on chicken... no salt, no seasoning whatsoever! Worst was Ma ordered full rack W/O sauce.... Was served and smothered with BBQ sauce... took twelve minutes for her to get her order in which we were all kinda done eating(mis comunication... got that...) and her sweet potato, once unraveled was just mush....The service was EXCELLENT! Its old school setting (70-80's) but just no love or consideration/thought/taste in to the food. At 29$, it wasn't something that any owner would put there name on (or perhaps they dont know..... seen that too) I am available for discussion and look forward to any advice that will make small town business survive!). Dude I thought you were my friend, why did you recommend this place? it's an hour drive for us each way and that's $20 just in gas. Well let's get to the restaurant review. This place has been around forever and apparently have a solid customer base. Unfortunately I will not be one of them. This was a one and done for us. Very pleasant and professional staff greeted us and had our reserved table ready. We started with drinks, my wife had a glass of wine that was served in a wine glass from 1962. I asked for a recommendation and the server said the Old Fashion was a house specialty. My advice is to get a new house drink, the Old Fashion was basic at best. We came for the prime rib and the large cut was generous, tender, juicy and flavorless. Did you run out of salt and pepper? You were so close to a perfect dish but fear of flavor was the downfall. Again I asked for an entree recommendation and they said the Pork Chops were excellent. If you like your Chops dry and tasteless then I guess they were excellent. Meals come with a cup of ice and some olives and carrots and celery in it. Bread basket consists of loads of packaged crackers and one skimpy bread roll and 1/2 a stick of butter. The house salad that is included was skimpy and looked like it came right out of a bag. The rib has au jus and a bland horseradish sauce and hash browns that were actually good. Chops has a side of caned applesauce and a backed small sweet potato that was nice and tender. We opted out of dessert to avoid further disappointment. Bill was $80 for two (after a five dollar discount for my mention of the pork chops being dry, they do have great customer service). $100 evening after tip. Needless to say I will no longer be taking restaurant recommendations from my buddy at the Cigar Club. read more
