Food was good but service was sloppy and alarming! When paying with a card they took my card at the window, then kept it hostage while they prepared the order. I don't like having the card out of my possession or out of my site for very long. They seem to just take your card and lay it down on a counter unattended! Although there may be cameras inside the restaurant, I do not know what is happening with my card. I filled-out the on-line survey and even emailed corporate, but in both instances, I received a very generic, plain, emotionless response, so I will not be returning to this or any other location, if this is their policy. This is a great place to go for an affordable fast food meal ! It had been a long, long time since I'd been to a Wienerscnitzel location. My parents and I often took roadtrips to Disneyland when I was a kid and we always stopped at Wienerschnitzel for one of our meals on our way there or on our way back home. When I was a kid we always got the hot dogs/chili dogs but decided to do something different for myself. I got a large iced tea, a Buffalo ranch bird dog (it's like a little crispy chicken sandwich on hot dog bun) and a cheeseburger and got my fiancé whose never had Wienerscnitzel before, a junkyard dog (chili cheese dog with fries on it) and a cheeseburger with a lemonade. The food was great and so affordable! All the items we got came out to $3.50 each and my total ended up being approx $22.. to feed two people this day and age with $22 is actually pretty amazing! My fiancé really loved the Junkyard dog.. he said it was made perfectly and the cheese sauce on it was very tasty. All in all, it was a great value and I'll definitely stop by more often now that I know we have a Wienerscnitzel close by!! read more

The store manager did not honor free chili dog coupons that corporate sent to promote their business. She had a negative attitude because it takes them longer to enter each coupon and doesn't bring revenue though it's supposed to get their name out. The store was in unsanitary conditions and her personal presentation said the same. Don't expect clean food when their floors, tables and manager look dirty. I haven't been to a Weinerschnitzel since George W Bush was in office. We all remember how bad the economy was back then. Anyways. What's new in the slim-downed location in Meridian? It's a small dining room but there's a patio and a drive-through lane. The inside is clean and fresh with framed images of Mr. Weiner himself. The restrooms were very clean and tidy. If you enter by the patio on the side, you'll go through the dining room and make your way to the front counter. Our first order taker was polite and after I lost the battle with my mom about who was going to pay, we all had a good laugh. He brought out our waters and then shortly thereafter our order in a bag. Everything was properly placed and well-marked. My wife wanted the All Beef Chicago without mustard, my mom wanted the same but with mustard and I had the veggie Chicago dog. The ladies also shared the chili fries with bacon and ranch. I did not partake in fries for obvious reasons. My veggie Chicago dog was great. My last veggie dog was from Uptons which was several years ago and it was not good. This dog was good and the toppings which included the celery salt and the peppers were a 9/10. A fully loaded veggie Chicago hot dog for less than $5.00 is a steal. The ladies enjoyed their hot dogs and I placed an order to go with Ayannah. She was very friendly and repeated my order back to me all with a smile. When the Fruit Loop Shake was ready, she brought it out and about 5 minutes later another employee brought out my son's meal which was the Junkyard dog, and chili fries. Parking: parking situation is a bit tricky since the drive thru lines are long they sometimes block parking spots. Nothing crucial but definitely a bit annoying. Food/inside the restaurant: the food was as good as I remembered it. Worth waiting for. It's best if you get off and order but I will say...it's tiny inside the restaurant. They have a total of 5 tables inside to dine in. 3 tables that sit 4 people and 2 tables that sit 2 people. The workers were happy to help. Happy to deliver. Happy in general. Wienerschnitzel, Wienerschnitzel, this must be the place. You drive right up and they stuff a hotdogs right into your face! So went the Wienerschnitzel TV jingle from the latec1960s. That was back when Wienerschnitzel's drive-thrus split the A-frame building. Wienerschnitzel once operated a restaurant in Boise in the early 1980s but it closed long ago. I was glad to see the Irvine, California, company open a new restaurant, this time in Meridian, this week. I arrived on opening day at about 11:30 a.m. There were only two people in the line ahead of me. A couple of hours later, as word spread, it took people more than an hour. I had a chile dog and a Fanta orange float. The chili dog was as good as I remember it at age 10, the last time I ate at Wienerschnitzel. The only negative was watching the manager run around like his head was cut off, and that was only an hour and a half after the restaurant opened. I can't imagine what he was like at the end of a long, grueling opening day. He didn't make eye contact and did not welcome anyone to his new restaurant. Very surprising for a company opening its first Idaho location after the original Boise location closed nearly 40 years ago. Most restaurants and stores have people outside wellcoming guests, especially when there's a long opening week line. read more

Ive been here a few times. Ive never had their burgers but I like a good chicago dog if I feel like a hot dog. I ended up getting the polish dog with fries. You get with sour Kraut which I didnt have. I was told that it came which I didnt get. Didn't check the order and wasnt go back for it. Good food for the price, the BBQ Bird Dog is very tasty as well as the Polish on Rye sandwich with sauerkraut. Also very quick service for genuinely fresh food, the chicken was CRUNCHY and so was the corn dog. Very small quaint lobby, it wasn't busy at all so we had a nice time dining in! read more

First location in Idaho, EVER! Tastes like a Wienerschnitzel from the past. Prices are up, but what isn't after the bozo we have in the White House. Good amount of chili on the chili dog. I always ask for onions and they got it right. Tried the polish sandwich but it hasn't been the same since they stopped putting sauerkraut on it. I think Jimmy Carter was president when that happened - figures. They sell their famous chili sauce in a can. I got a Chicago dog, cheese fries and a wild berry lemonade. The Chicago dog was ok. It didn't have the neon green relish, which is fine, most places done, but the sport peppers were great. The cheese on the cheese fries wasn't melted which was a disappointment and they could have been cooked a bit more, which would have helped the melting issue. The wild berry lemonade was amazing. Very refreshing and a switch from other places IMO that have to throw a bunch of fruit in a cup to get in the way of my drink. I will go back here for sure if for nothing else for this alone. There are a lot of other things on their menu that I would love to try. One thing is they are NOT gluten friendly. Their chili contains gluten, which I was able to confirm with what appeared to be the manager as well as all hotdogs somehow except for their all beef dogs. They also do not offer gluten free buns so there's that too. But my gluten-free SO was able to have a Chicago dog without the bun, cheese fries and not get sick, so that was a bonus. Kicking and screaming we came here tonight for a quick bite...I will start off by saying I really don't like hot dogs so that's the kicking and screaming part. But in a pinch we decided to relive our childhood growing up. This is as everyone knows is newer to the area and for those of us that grew up eating here know exactly what you are going to get. Inside was nice and modern not like the places back home. Service was also good and the young guy taking our order was very friendly. The only hiccup is they forgot my fries which good that we dined in and didn't get all the way home... Food is just like I remember and tasted the same. That's the secret in my opinion. My wife loves this place and is her guilty pleasure, but for me it's just a hot dog and as I stated earlier not really my thing. She had the chili cheese dogs and I had the Chicago dog with a chili cheese dog. Food was done well and brought me back a little. I hope this place does well and keeps it going. It was great to see while not a huge fan of chain restaurants especially fast food. Okay I have to admit I'm one of those customers who could not wait for Wienerschnitzel to open. They did not disappoint! Yes it was crazy and my first hotdog bun was hard, however they were working at turbo speed with all the clients waiting to get in. My hubby and I tried them 2 days later and it was so darn good. I highly recommend the Chili Cheese dog and the fries were hot and mouth watering. Prices are a little higher than I remember, but it will not deter us from going back. I finally made it to the new Wienerschnitzel on 10 Mile. I have fond memories of having lunch at der Wienerschnitzel (that's what it was called back then) while attending high school. There was one just a few blocks off campus, and from time to time, my mother would give me a dollar to buy lunch. That dollar got me two mustard dogs, a kraut dog, two fries, a soda, and I still have .15 cents left over from my dollar. I would then go to a bakery a block away and buy,for 15 cents, what they called a Tiger Tail. It was like a long glazed donut, as long as a loaf of French bread. I think it was made from leftover dough from their morning run of glazed donuts. Well, over the years, Wienerschnitzel has not changed its product. While some items have been added to the menu, their mustard and kraut dogs remain the same. I tried their all-beef hotdog a few years ago, but it just wasn't the same for me. While I always buy all-beef dogs for home, I'll stick with Wienerschnitzel's all-meat dogs. I love them! Nowadays, I can't eat as much as I did when I was in high school, so I ordered a mustard dog and kraut dog, fries, and a medium soda, and I was full! And instead of change back from my dollar, the tab was nearly $12. Boy, how some things change. But thankfully, not their hotdogs! I know that this Wienerschnitzel was overwhelmed when it first opened, but they seem to have their act together now. While the place was full of people, I think I only waited about 10 to 15 minutes from the time I entered to the time I left with my order. Heard it was opening that day and had some errands in the area, so I spent an hour there. My CCF were absolutely delicious and the staff was working hard. My cashier was very friendly and was doing a great job. When I placed my order inside, I asked if there was someone who could bus tables and empty the overflowing trash can (I work in hospitality) but the cashier said it's supposed to be him, but he was too busy. Not a great answer, they had only been open a little more than 3 hours and the very small dine in area was trashed. Not a great first impression for the hundreds of customers coming through. Management should have made something happen. They were so behind in orders, they could have even stopped taking orders for 5 minutes to give him time to go do it. I've been anxiously awaiting the opening of Wienerschnitzel since I learned that they were coming to Idaho. When we lived in California for the 3 years my husband attended graduate school I learned to love Wienerschnitzel for their simple and yummy chili cheese dogs. I went by today around 2pm. I was pretty disappointed in their handling of their opening. I waited in the drive thru line and in my opinion waited far too long. Maybe after observing how well In-N-Out orchestrated their grand opening I was expecting too much of Wienerschnitzel. It wasn't so much that they had a long line, but that the long line moved SO very SLOWLY! I kept track at one point and it took 10 whole minutes for the lead car to pay, get their food, and drive off. For a fast food restaurant that is far too long. Especially since that same car had placed their order by speaker prior to arriving at the window. My chili cheese dogs were exactly as expected- filled with melty, gooey cheese with not too spicey chili. The bun was soft and fresh and the hot dog plump with a crisp "pop" when I bit into it. My daughter's mini corn dogs were just okay. The fries were better than expected. I wish that they had put some effort into the efficiency of their drive thru line because that's the reason that I won't be going back anytime soon. read more
