My sister and I came in tonight to grab an easy dinner for our parents and for ourselves. My dad loves the Habit so figuring out dinner for all of us was easy tonight. We came in at the perfect time, it was pretty chill. We got our orders started on the kiosk. I got myself the double char burger with cheese and of course all the fixings. My parents got a couple single char burgers while my sister got a burger type sandwich. While it was all being prepared, we chilled outside since it was so nice out today. It was about a 15 minute or so wait till our food was done. Everything was bagged up nicely. I did ask if there were any peppers and ketchup packets that weren't communal. With my new kidney, I unfortunately can't use the tongs and ketchup dispenser that everyone uses. The jalapenos and peppers were a no go. But ketchup packets were available. The young man grabbed me a handful for me. He did drop a couple packets on the ground and proceeded to hand them to me. Common sense as an employee, I wouldn't give them to customers as they have hit the ground. I ended up throwing the packets away. I wasn't going to risk putting/ using dirty packets on my food. My burger was decent. The hamburger was a tad dry. I ended up putting some mustard on it to help with the dryness. I haven't eaten here for a while. I don't remember my food being so mehhh. If I remember correctly, I thought the food was great last time. Today was mehhh which is such a bummer. I was hoping for a killer burger. Customer service was ok, considering we ordered from a screen, no one really talks to you and the employee handed me ketchup packets that were dropped on the kitchen floor. My burger did it's job but could have been better tasting. With another burger joint in the same strip, you'd think they'd step up their game. Because I ordered at the counter to go. I felt that when I rejected the tip on a child's burger and fries, I know it comes with a drink. I was not offered the drink at all. The cup even though it said it on the receipt. I did hear everybody speaking in Spanish, and I had a couple words to understand they were speaking of me that I did not tip so I never got offered the cup. Burger size shrunk. We popped in for lunch. Service was fast and polite. It was clean. The thing I noticed is that the burger that I got was definitely smaller than the last time I was in, about six months prior. I hope habit doesn't think that they could pull this off without people noticing. It was my favorite burger place around until I saw this trickery. Same price, less food. Food was okay. I ordered via Uber eats so this review is geared towards takeout. I ordered the double cheese burger and fries/onion ring combo. The onions rings were crispy due to the breaded coating. A bit cold but still tasty. The fries were cold and soggy. Nothing special about the fries. Typical golden cut fry. The cheeseburgers were soggy and wet due to the sauce put on them maybe? At least half of both burgers I bought were soggy. Eating around the soggy parts, the burger itself was okay. Overall 3 stars. It doesn't make me want to go in and try the place but it doesn't deter me yet either as I would give them another chance for a dine in experience. We brought a group of 18 adults last time and arrived around 11:15 for an early lunch. Some of us waited in line. Others tried out the kiosks and all of us got thru quickly. I like the layout of this location, with the grill off to one side it's not as smoky in the dining area as Nampa and has lots of parking nearby. The crew was top notch, very helpful, cleaning up tables quickly. Among my favorite things to order are the club with avocado, crispy bacon and grilled chicken. The real star was how well toasted the sandwich bread was. The tempura beans, 10 out of 10 every time. The Santa Barbara Char is also very good but messy to eat. Shredded lettuce always falls out. For a little taste of the world, come to the Meridian, ID, The Habit and be greeted by staff yelling at each other in a foreign language. Try to have a quiet lunch with what used to be So Cal surfer and beach style music. Instead, the music will be drowned out by the staff chatting with each other in a a foreign language that is so loud that you can't think. So rude and unprofessional. I won't even mention how the food quality has deteriorated since March 2020, when Yum! Brands, the parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, acquired The Habit Burger Grill. read more

I was impressed with the chicken club sandwich. Unexpected from a burger place. This was exceptional. Hot juicy chicken on sourdough toast with the right vegetables, sauce, cheese, and avocado. I was traveling through the Boise area, having enjoyed Habit Burgers in the bay area in California and so I thought I would take advantage of an opportunity for some take out. My order was placed just before closing time, but the team was glad to take it and the food was delicious! I'm a burger guy, and convinced my wife to have a burger. Me and my girlfriend went in to this Habit 30 minutes before closing. Initially walking in the door we were already getting some harsh looks from the workers. We ordered our food and sat down. About 5 minutes later 2 other kids and an older couple walked in, the cook in the back (longer hair, a little bigger) started looking physically pissed off. He was using his hands to basically signify that he was mad about people coming in and sort of tried to shoo-off the incoming costumers. We were very skeptical about him ruining our food on purpose but it turned out good. I will not be coming back here later in the day and would recommend anyone else to do the same. I had heard great things about this place. The shake was good, as well as the onion rings. They were fried pretty dark but I still liked them. The disappointment was the burger. The burger itself, while small was good but the bun was really dry. It kept crumbling and breaking off so the whole thing was hard to eat. I don't know why I haven't discovered this location while living in Idaho. I used to go to the Habit 1x per week back home. This to me is one of the better fast food locations. The food is always fresh and made to order plus if you like lettuce wraps this place nails it! This location was all that I expected and reminded me of back home. Inside the restaurant was spotless. I walked up and was greeted by a very friendly worker who took my order. Not what you would get at the big chains. My food came out and was absolutely delicious!! I will for sure be back. Could be a much better experience. Ordered a habit burger for myself with fries and drink and a fried green bean for my wife. The website says they do curbside pickup and I'd had a long day at work. I placed an online order to be ready at 7:30. I got here a little bit late around 7:37. I clicked the HERE button on the text message etc and sat in the front parking spot in front of the restaurant. I sat there for 5 mins and saw them looking outside. I waited and no one came out. So at this point I went into the restaurant. Apparently nobody here speaks English because I showed my confirmation number and said number and name a few times and everyone here looked so confused. My order was ready to go but it was already cold. They don't keep them under heat lamps Or anything. By the time I got home only living like 2 mins from here it was cold and didn't have much flavor. Wife said her green beans were good. My drink was good burger was just ok. Fries were alright although not even warm. Be warned no curbside you have to go into the RR. DUDE this place has it all! One bite of their signature Charburger will have you dreaming of the next visit. I've had plenty of delicious burgers from chains but the Habit outshines most! I probably visit at least once a month so allow me to highlight my favorite menu pieces: Right off the bat I can tell you my all-time favorite is the Santa Barbara Char. This masterpiece includes two hot, fresh, chargrilled beef patties with cheese and avocado on grilled sourdough. Talk about a world wonder. Whenever I think of the yummiest burgers I've had, this one lands near to top of my list. That's saying a lot considering I've eaten more burgers than you (I'm totally willing to bet on that.). Another item I can't leave with raving about is the new(ish, by now) Chicken Caprese on Garlic Ciabatta. This seasonal sandwich features a fat, juicy piece of chargrilled chicken breast on toasted garlic ciabatta with tomatoes and lettuce, topped with melted mozzarella cheese and basil pesto aïoli. This sandwich is a burst of flavor, a neat twist to bring a little Italian to this burger joint. If it's still offered, you best get yourself one before it's gone. Lastly, it would be downright disrespectful to leave out the OG. If you didn't have a Charburger at least once have you ever really been to the Habit. This signature can come with one or two juicy chargrilled patties, but I only recommend the latter if you're feeling up for a challenge or sharing the meal. I got one today and ended up having to save half it was so darn big. It will make a fantastic lunch tomorrow! Before I leap off my soapbox, I would like to name a few honorable mentions, all sides. French fries, onion rings, sweet potato fries and tempura green beans are all fabulous choices, can't go wrong with any of them. I mean, the salad is good too, but if you're going to get a burger for crying out loud give yourself a break just get the damn fries. This review may be a little over the top for a chain, but it's well deserved. Hit up the Habit if you're looking for a quality burger. Just like me, you just might make a habit out of it. read more

Being from SoCal it's nice to find The Habit here in Idaho. Burgers are delicious and alway hot and fresh. Great fries and the had Mango Passion Fruit Lemonade. Added a little sprite and it was very refreshing. Very nice staff who were kind and knowledgeable. So far after 4 burger's experiences in Idaho going to one of our home town favorites takes the #1 spot for fresh delicious fairly priced food. read more

Are dogs actually allowed to sit at the tables inside the restaurant? Was there at lunch today and noticed a couple with a dog sitting at the table where the owner was feeding him. Also noticed another dog on a leash in the restaurant with the owner as she waited for an order. They do things here differently in Idaho. Recently I visited a different Habit Burger and it was horrible, but because I have had good experiences before- I decided to give the one in the Meridian Village a try. It was quite busy, but the cashier kept the line moving quickly. Customer service was great. The burger and sweet potato fries came out hot and fresh and exactly as I ordered. First time at The Habit Burger, I tried the Impossible Burger and made it a double to get a full taste of this plant based meat. I think if I didn't know that it wasn't real meat, I would have probably thought that it was some lower quality ground beef mixed with some fillers, but I wouldn't have suspected it was plant based. We recently ate at the Habit off of Eagle after not eating at one for a few months. We ordered our favorite sandwich, the spicy crispy chicken sandwich. We were very surprised that it did not resemble the ones we used to get. I had to check with an employee to make sure we got the correct order, she said yes. The sandwich was completely different from the bread to the chicken and everything in between, it wasnt even spicy. It reminded me of a fish-filet from McDonalds. Perhaps eateries are switching up products to beat inflation. But, we won't be back. The place was clean but the food has gone downhill. read more

Two of my friends recommended The Habit over In-N-Out and that's a high hill to climb over. I was skeptical but was game to try them. Both chains were born in Southern California, In-N-Out in 1948 in Baldwin Park, outside Los Angeles, and The Habit in 1969 in Santa Barbara. Both have fanatical followers. I ordered a single Charburger and fries. They were ok, but nothing that screamed this was one of the best fast-food meals I had ever had. The burger didn't seem to have any seasoning and lacked the distinctive char burger taste. Since I hadn't eaten at The Habit before the company got bought out in early 2020 by fast-food behemoth Yum Brands, I have nothing to compare. Except Yum has a stable of mediocre brands: Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC. Maybe The Habit has gone the way of those brands. In-N-Out, on the other hand, is still owned by the founding Snyder family. They've kept things simple, pay a wage that's much higher than typical fast-food joints and continue to put out a quality product. I can't wait until they come to Idaho. read more

We were hesitant to try Habit again after our poor experience a few months ago, but everything else was packed and we didn't want to wait. This is a true review as we did not receive any coupons or refunds from our previous bad experience. We were so happily surprised. The food was amazing, fresh, perfectly cooked, and hot. Was a favorite of mine when living in CA but it is just average - at least at this location. Burger was sloppy with way too much Mayo and it was cold. Fries were unseasoned.
