I wanted to love this place but after our first visit today, it's more hate than love. Today, we drove out of our way on a Saturday morning at 10am to grab a bite. Upon entering the driveway off Linder, it was difficult to see a parking lot. It appears from the street that it's drive through only. After circling the building we noticed a front door and a 10 car parking area on the Sodalicious side of the building. Otherwise there is an apartment building with assigned parking nearby that is obviously not for customers. We got the last available parking spot. When we entered Waffle Love there was no line. A few tables were full and there were 3-4 employees up front. The girl who took our order just got off the phone taking a to-go order then we had her full attention. My hubs ordered the chicken bacon ranch Sammy and I ordered the breakfast plate with scrambled eggs. We asked for crispy bacon. The girl did not seem to have any difficulty taking our order and was interactive asking me how I liked my eggs and agreed to make the bacon crispy. Our order cost $24. We paid and sat down after filling our drinks. They had real silverware. The food that was delivered to our table was not what we ordered. Hubs got a breakfast sandwich instead of his chicken bacon ranch Sammy. I got the breakfast plate with over easy eggs instead of scrambled. We asked for the correct sandwich but I ate what I was given. My breakfast plate was cold. The cool eggs would not cut apart with the side of my metal fork. The bacon was cool and chewy. The waffle was rubbery and room temp. Even the avocado was not as fresh as it should have been. The only upside was that the salt and peppered egg's flavor was nice. I had to ask for syrup for the waffle and I was told by the cook that they do not have butter. Hubs was completely over it and asked for a refund for his sandwich so we could leave. I was so disappointed and bummed out. The only upside to this place is the cute decor and fun ambiance of the dining room. Huge props to the staff for giving us a full refund without any questions. Waffle Love, Meridian ID, is still one of my favorite places. I often place an order to pick up. The food is always hot and delicious and the staff is so friendly and helpful. My go to's are the Breakfast Sammy and the Banana Cream Pie (chocolate filled waffle with bananas and whipped cream on top), I usually sub strawberries. MMMM! There was one order ahead of us (4 ladies and their toddlers). Thirty minutes after we ordered, the ladies ahead us got their order. Fifty minutes after we ordered, we finally got our food. It seems they are understaffed (only 2 employees) and I only saw one grill, so maybe they need to resolve that. The breakfast sandwich was extremely disappointing...plain tasting egg with a small amount of soggy bacon between two rubbery waffles. I ended up giving it to my wife who then found a hair/eyelash in it. The chicken was decent though. Based on our experience, we will not return and would not recommend this place. I've tried Waffle Love several times and I'm never disappointed. Each order is made fresh so it takes longer to get your food than at a fast food joint. Those few extra minutes are definitely worth it. For a meal my favorite is the Breakfast Sammy. Get the eggs cooked over medium so that the yolks are just a little runny. The slightly runny yolk combined with the sauce they use cannot be beat! All of the dessert waffles are delicious. My favorite tends to be the Red Wonder. The crunchy Biscoff with the fresh berries and real whipped cream is just incredible. One comment about the waffles they make. None of the various waffles are particularly light or fluffy. The waffles are somewhat firm and chewy. I really like the consistency, but if someone is expecting a light, airy waffle this is not the place. read more

Updated Review: We've been coming here since they first opened and I've noticed some changes to the food and pricing over the years. I'm kind of thinking when they got new owners in 2020 that's when the pricing changed and went up. There are a couple trips where we've had some inconsistencies in their food. 1. The waffle being as hard as a rock, probably because the cooked sugar in the waffle. It was so so hard to cut, even with a steak knife. 2. The whipped cream not having enough sugar or something to give it that sweetness factor. It was still good nonetheless. Now I'm just not sure the food justifies the price anymore. We paid $28 for 3 waffles. 2 grilled cheese with a cup of soup each and 1 red wonder. The grilled cheese was pretty small which definitely makes it more of an appetizer sizing rather than a lunch portion. Their cup of soup on mine was delicious and plenty but my husbands was FULL of their cherry tomatoes they never blended so he only got about 3 spoonfuls of it. I think in the end this is why we don't come or crave their waffles as much as we used to. read more

My wife and I have started up our date nights again after a long absence. Part of the reason we stopped doing them is because our daughter was always around. We always love it when our daughter is with us, but is just not the same as a real date with the wife. Well, the daughter now has a boyfriend. Those dreaded words that every dad hates but inevitably happens anyway. Luckily, the guy that our daughter chose is pretty nice. In fact, I told our daughter that he is a lot like me. One upside of the daughter going on dates with her bo is that it gives us the opportunity to go on a dates too. A date with the wife! God love that daughter of mine. We try to find a new place to eat at when we go out on these dates. Today, we chose a new place called Waffle Love. I have driven by and seen this place several times. I resisted trying it because I have not been a fan of the waffle craze. I had heard of Chicken and Waffles before but I just could not figure out what the hubub was all about. Well, Im happy to admit when I was wrong. I did not try the chicken and waffles here, but I might next time. The other thing that my wife and I do now is split dishes. It just sounds more romantic and we have found sure enough that it is. Its a bit like that old Disney movie, the lady and the tramp where the dogs are in that restaurant eating spaghetti and wind up eating on the same noodle and it draws them to almost kiss. We had the Grilled cheese with Tomato Bisque from the savory side of the menu and The Dulce from the sweet side. Trying to make a decision which side of the menu to order from is a bit like that commercial, "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you dont.." I was skeptical and wary, but that all faded when it came. The Grilled Cheese is a Belgium Waffle. If you have not had one of these, do so as soon as you can. Belgium waffles are light and fluffy, crispy and chewy all at the same time. They are completely different from normal waffles and barely even a comparison. The waffle was stuffed with cheese just like a grilled cheese sandwich. It was delightful and very flavorful. It was one of the best grilled cheese that I have ever had. I did not try the Tomato Bisque because I just don't like tomato soup, but my wife said it was good. On my 1 to 10 scale, I would give this a solid 8. I felt that the sandwich lacked something, but I could not put my finger on what it needed. The Dulche is a Belgium Waffle, Fried Ice Cream with Corn Flakes on the outside, cinnamon and a carmel sauce with strawberries. This is very good. The waffle keeps its crispness. The fried ice cream is very creamy and the cork flakes added a nice texture difference to it. I think it would have been ever better if the corn flakes were mixed into the ice cream itself. A choice of different flavors of ice cream would be a nice addition. The carmel was for me, a little lacking in flavor and I would have liked way more of it. I would have also liked more cinnamon, but then again, im a cinaholic. (Ps, this does mean, I like to sin. :)) The strawberries were very light and fresh and made the dish brighter. Overall I would give this dish a 7. It was really good, but needed more carmel, cinnamon and strawberries to balance it out and match the picture they show on the menu at the counter. I applaud them having waffles to fit both a meal and a dessert. That was very smart on someones part. My only concern would be that coming here a lot, one might get waffle overload, but for me, it was a fun thing to try and I will come back again to try more of the menu. read more

Interesting little place, a fast-casual hole in the wall that's essentially a slightly upscale Idaho version of that southern staple place Waffle House. Unlike your average Waffle House, this place is very clean. It's good, the portions aren't super generous, but tasty. The place is kind of a one-note "let's do one thing well" sort of place; that basically means that the menu is endless variations of how to dress up a waffle, plus chicken or a fried egg, and avocado toast. For me, it's more of a place to snack than get a meal, maybe ideal for a post-drinking binge destination. I kind of wish they had a bigger meal option for the bigger eater, but not my restaurant. You could always go back and order something else if it doesn't fill you up, but there is a bit of a lag between ordering and getting your food, so that doesn't seem practical to me. read more

I got a chicken waffle with avocado and tomato sandwich thing that is unbelievable! My son got the grilled cheese and tomato soup which he said was quite possibly the best grilled cheese he'd ever had, I'm not saying a lot considering he is an aficionado. The french fries are huge, we got a big plate of them and they are thick cut and fresh made, so good with the fry sauce. Then we shared the dolce, the waffle is almost like cinnamon toast topped with comment, fresh strawberries and some thing that I can only describe as being like fried ice cream. The portions are huge so the pricing I feel is really well done. If you're even thinking about trying it come in, I don't think you'll regret it. Seven of us met up at Waffle Love for breakfast this morning. We loved it! The service was good and waffles were really good. I had the Nutella strawberry with whipped cream waffle which was delicious. I should have ordered the kids size as I couldn't finish it. My daughter had the grilled cheese with tomato soup/bisque and she said the tomato soup must have been someone's grandmother's famous recipe because it was so delicious! A few years ago there was a Waffle Love food truck in Las Vegas where we live and I had them come to my work for an employee treat day but apparently their truck was stolen and they left Vegas so I can only get it here now. I've been here twice now with two different sets of people and the overall consensus has been similar both times. Waffles are yummy, dessert waffles are yummier, but not sure these particular waffles are worth coming back for time and time again. Teenage staff working here has always been very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that as much of the youth today seems to feel they are beyond a typical high school job. So props there. There is a good selection of offerings, both sweet and savory, so I think most everyone can find something to meet their taste buds. I personally find for the serving size the $7-$8 price point to be a bit steep to make it a regular stop for most. I think most would not be willing to share one. I am familiar with a traditional liege waffle and have had many in the past, so I find these particular waffles to be very different than what I'm accustomed too. Those that I have had prior are more crunchy on the outside with a pretty significant sugary caramel coating and soft on the inside. The waffles here are fluffy like a belgian waffle but sweet with the pearl sugar, no crunchy sugary outside. For someone who doesn't have something to compare too, you'd probably be less judgemental about this aspect. I personally just find them to miss the mark, based on what I'm expecting. I also prefer my whipped cream to be more light and airy. I'm not suggesting they use store bought whipped cream, love that they make it fresh in-house daily but . . . I've had and made homemade whipped cream before and it wasn't as dense as theirs is. It's almost like the consistency of a giant scoop of butter. I also think the ratio of whip to waffle is not right. Fruit toppings have always been fresh, flavorful and a decent amount. Parking is a bit tricky so be sure to pull into the lot prior to pulling up in front of the actual building. There is not parking in front of the actual store front and the side of building parking is tricky and hard to navigate if the neighboring business has a full drive through. Overall my kids think the place is great. The adults I've been with seem to have more discerning palates and have similar feelings to what I've said above. So I guess weigh your audience and give it a go. P.S. This is not in BOISE, but in Meridian . . . so don't get confused by the name! read more

This week's was CINNALOVE: house made cream cheese frosting & cinnamon butter. It was delicious. We also had the RED WONDER: crunchy biscoff, strawberries, raspberries, fresh whipped cream. The whipped cream was a giant scoop and just the perfect delicious not-so-sweet addition to this dish. So so good. 3 nice teenagers working Friday night. I initially went here 4 a Yelp Elite event, and I'm glad I did. I can't wait to bring my husband here 4 a sweet breaky this weekend maybe 4 a belated Father's Day meal since we were camping in the great outdoors. The waffles are light, fluffy and full of sweet treats, like fresh fruit, chocolate, caramel drizzle, whipped cream, etc. It really depends on your preference, but if you LOVE Nutella and bananas, there is a specific waffle just 4 you. The waffles weren't anything I'd ever had before. They were flaky and delicious probably because they were made from a yeast dough rather than a batter. My son wanted the chicken and waffles. I was so surprised at how good the chicken was! It was made from scratch, chicken breast with a wonderful juicy crunch. So delicious. I had the breakfast Sammy. Perfectly cooked bacon and eggs. It had a sauce on it, which was a little heavier than I would have used, but it was good none the less. The only thing that disappointed me was there wasn't a mask in the place. My fiancée and I first ordered the Breakfast Sammy and the Sausage Sammy "for here", which was ready in about 5-10 minutes with about 75 percent store capacity. After that, we ordered a couple waffles from the "sweet" menu, was ridiculously scrumptious. They could have better coffee, though, but then I'd need to rate it 6/5.
