We were in town for a concert and decided to drive up to Laguna beach. I found this place on Yelp and chose it cuz of its proximity and reviews. I immediately made my way to the register to order and was 2nd in line. When it was my turn to order the girl at the register answered the phone to take an order before taking mine. It wouldn't have been a big deal but she seemed to take forever with this customer meanwhile the line started to form and snake outside to the front sidewalk. Imo she should've let someone else take incoming phone orders. Other than that everything was great. Our food came out fairly quick considering the crowd of people that had formed. I ordered the "Wigz grinder" with the turkey and salami my partner had the hot pastrami sandwich. We both enjoyed our sandwiches although mine was a little bit dry. We didn't know that they had a nice little back patio that we could've enjoyed eating at since we had sat down on the front patio near the highway. Well there's always next time. read more

This is my second time using the shop. This is also the last time. The first time, my order for takeout was wrong. They did not include the pesto on the side which honestly makes the entire sandwich what it is - a PESTO sandwich. Fine. Mistakes happen. I figured I would try again, but the exact same thing happened. They stepped it up a bit, though. Again no pesto. Not even noted on the ticket. Plus now time the cheese on the sandwich is also wrong. We asked for pickle on the side. It's on the ticket but not with the food. I basically paid for a grilled cheese sandwich tossed in a bag. Again - mistakes happen but this is number two. This time I wanted them to make it right. I tried to call and let them know my order was wrong and see if they could switch it out but when I called, it just goes to voicemail. As I have been on a pastrami kick for the last eight months or so, I tried this place at the behest of an online couple that review sandwiches (@libby_and_ryan). I've got to say, they were spot on with this one! It was wonderful; and a wonderful experience throughout. Our host could not have been more accommodating and cheerful. I will say - having been here once before - the key is to order double pastrami between the slices. Not that they skimp, but it is definitely worth the five dollars extra! Not only is the meat heavenly, the marbled rye that it comes with is soft and delicious as well. The accompaniment of the coleslaw, Russian dressing, and Swiss cheese makes this an exceptional example of a New York style pastrami sandwich. Top marks, especially in Orange County. I got the Laguna Italian sub and it was a 10/10. I was there in a Saturday around 230pm and it was a fairly busy. The girls working were so kind, quick and patient with everyone there in small quarters. There I sitting in the front and back(majority shaded). This was my second time visiting Wigz and I can honestly say that it was so much better than my first. I didn't want to review Wigz after my first visit because I think there was a breakdown in communication when I ordered my sandwiches. I have had several friends tell me that they thought Wigz has the best sandwiches in Laguna Beach so I decided to try Wigz again. This time I researched the various sandwiches online by reading the reviews and pictures online. I ordered the Classic Roast Beef and added avocado to it. My partner got the hot pastrami sandwich with double the meat (2/3 lb). We both thought that these sandwiches were delicious. My partner ate the whole sandwich but due to the size he was unable to eat dinner that night! I ate half of my roast beef sandwich and ate the other half the next day for lunch. Needless to say, the sandwiches are very generous and filling. The location is right across from the beach so you can get sandwiches to go and eat them at the beach. There is also plenty of outdoor dining in the back and in the front of the shop. The front patio is a great people watching location and it is dog friendly. My only suggestion that would improve customer experience would be for the menu to include a more detailed description of what is on the sandwiches. read more

Well like many folks in Orange County, I love a good sandwich by the beach, and this place checks both of those boxes! Went here with a friend and we tried two different sandwiches and split them both. First off, the hot pastrami was off the charts good. I have had many pastrami sandwiches and this is my favorite I have ever had, the sauce they put on it was flavorful and the toasted bread it comes on tied it all up in a tasty little bow! The second sandwich was the Wigz grinder with turkey and salami, this was a nice second choice and quite refreshing. A great sandwich to grab and take to the beach. Wigz is a fun and funky breath of fresh air in Laguna! I've gone twice for their daily 4pm-close Happy Hour to have a few of their $5 draft pints. On my third try, I decided to try a sandwich. I ordered the Veggie on Squaw sandwich to go, adding pepperjack cheese and subbing the squaw for dutch crunch. When I got to my next location to eat the sandwich, I noticed the wrapping was done really well. The dutch crunch bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The sandwich felt like a good homemade sando. However, for $15, I had hopes for a larger sandwich. I also wish they offered pickle slices as a topping option as well as the spear. The back of the restaurant patio isn't to be missed. They have a TV out there playing sports, and a few tables to sit with your drink and food. They also have a bookshelf with a variety of games inside to keep you busy. The servers are friendly and hip. All in all, based on the price, Wigz won't be my everyday sandwich shop, but I will definitely be back often for their awesome happy hour deals! read more

I ordered a Sir Melvin, which is a turkey avocado sandwich with shredded lettuce, tomato, red onion, pepperoncinis, Italian dressing, mayo, and dijon mustard on brown bread with a sliced pickle on the side. It was really tasty! The ingredients were fresh and well prepared. The restaurant has a very nice and casual back courtyard to sit at to enjoy your meal. Such fun little spot. Its a little difficult to find the sign but its the place in the corner. There is sitting up front by the road, inside (very minimal) and in the back patio. We tried different sandwiches. I had the tuna melt which was pretty delicious. My niece had the turkey with Avocado and she didn't think it was the best but she liked it. My nephew had the PB&J and he enjoyed it. The best part is we got to play some board games while we waited for our food. And overall had an enjoyable time. Totally recommend this spot. read more
