Hi, this is my first time feeling the need to review a business. First of all... The food was AMAZING, and almost everyone was so friendly, no complaints there. But the girl at the bar (Kate, I believe, with the tattoos and kind of blonde hair) was so unnecessarily rude. Every time I needed something, I had to fight with her phone for attention. Not only that, but I noticed how she was disrespecting her entire team. I loved this place and would love to come back, but to be very honest, if I walk in the door and see her, I will turn right around. I listened to her badmouth her management, ownership, and coworkers, and she was not friendly whatsoever to the customers. Truly, this place honored Dizz's, and I couldn't imagine a better fit for this spot, but that girl is a liability. Update: The owner reached out and took full accountability and even offered in many ways to make my next experience amazing, but my original experience was already amazing. My intention was not to disrespect the business, but simply to bring to light the actions that could ultimately have negative consequences on the business. I understand that everybody has a bad day, but the last thing I wanna hear when having the absolute greatest time at a restaurant is how one bad apple views the establishment. I would like to just reiterate that everything else in this entire business was phenomenal, the food, the drinks, the staff, the attentiveness, just this one employee left a bad taste in my mouth. I never thought small words from me would even be heard by a business owner, but the way that I was immediately acknowledged and recognized shows me this place is worth my business. read more

I found this place while looking for a good burger in Laguna Beach, and I'm happy I did! The restaurant has a really cute atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. You can enjoy the street views and even see the beach, which makes for a relaxing experience. The burgers were really good, and the prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. There's also street parking nearby, which made it convenient. Overall, it's a great spot if you're craving a good burger in Laguna Beach. I'll definitely be back! read more

One of the better smash burgers in OC but a few major flaws keeping it from being the best: 1) Chopped onions on a smash burger is amateur hour. Everyone knows a smash burger needs a ball of thinly sliced onions smashed and sweated into the burger while it cooks. 2) Our loaded fries had a crap ton of raw chopped onions, as well as raw jalepenos on the fries - wtf? This isn't chili cheese fries, cook those bad boys before you broil them. 3) Sauce is just a tad too sweet - knock down the sugar or add more mustard to balance the ketchup if that's where the sugar is coming from. All in all a valiant effort that with a few tweaks could claim the top spot. read more

By far the best smash burger I've ever had in my life. You'll be tempted to order another. The ambience is everything! Came on a Wednesday evening, there was a Dj, wasn't so busy but it's like you're walking into a house party. 10/10. Peyton was our bartender and his drinks are top tier as well as his service. Whenever you hear about a new Smashburger place opening it's always a hit or miss. Small's smash club was for sure a HIT ! Exactly what you want in a smashburger so delicious I am still thinking about it. The place is located right on pacific coast so you are able to check out the beach which is always nice. The location looks pretty small when you walk in but they have more seating in the back and it's so beautiful you will lose track of time. Staff was very friendly and despite being busy they made sure to make us feel taken care of. We went on Tuesday and it was pretty busy and can only see it getting more popular. As a big fan of smash burgers (but no expert) I was super excited to see this place pop up in laguna! Drove by once and made sure to go the next time I was around and that's exactly what I did. Their menu is pretty limited, they stick to burgers and fries, but they also have a small intimate bar for people to hang out at. Burgers were delicious but slightly overpriced. one suggestion I have for them is I wish they could offer a refreshing house made juice or lemonade that would go really well with the burgers for people who don't want soda but still would like something sweet! I would say the girls who take orders need a bit more enthusiasm or welcoming energy because they just seemed very bored and unhappy to be there so customer service should improve (i'll give them the benefit of the doubt it seemed to be a slow day only one other couple was eating inside at the same time I went). I also did not know the owner was sitting nearby until I heard him speak negatively about customers who came in on their opening day, he came off a bit snobby but I mean that's just everyone in oc for you. Burgers were just okay, probably wouldn't come back unless it was the only thing open in town. Fries- terrible. Overcooked and tasted fried in old grease. Very very dirty inside, we went outside to see the birds and patio and saw 4 mice running around in and out the bird cage. Very dirty throughout, I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like . I love smalls smash club in San Clemente but WOW the vibes at this location are incredible. I came around 7:00 on Friday night and the parking situation is a little tricky. I was able to find some parking on Pacific Coast highway but the walk to this restaurant was scary as there's no real sidewalk. There was a DJ playing vibey music and the spot was popping with people. It's really cute and lively inside. There is a little bar with cocktails, beer and wine and an outdoor patio where the DJ was spinning tunes until 8:00 p.m. I placed an order to-go online and it was ready at the time it said it would be. I wish there was a different section to pick up my order as I had to wait in line in order to be helped. The burger, fries and sauce were spectacular as usual. I can't wait to come back for trivia night or to listen to the DJ on the patio. This is a great spot to hang with friends or family!! read more

Great addition to Laguna! The burgers are so YUM! Family of 4 all got combos with fries and customized burgers how we wanted and everyone chowed. The burgers are the best as they come with cheese, grilled onions, pickles, sauce. Also devoured the onion rings. Staff was all friendly and the vibes are very Laguna. The opening day on June 6th I decided to go see what the hype was all about this smash burger place in Laguna Beach. I had decided to go with a few friends & also bring my 13 week old puppy along since I literally take her everywhere with zero issues. I had the ENTIRE STAFF & everyone there at opening day at this restaurant coming up to me asking to see & pet my beloved pup. EVERYONE LOVED HER. Honestly we had a great time & met some great people. But afterwards we had finished eating we threw away our trash & attempt to leave through the front door. As I'm walking out with my puppy in my hand while she is also on a leash (not on the floor causing a ruckus or anything) since there was too many people there. A bald headed man with a child was blocking the walk way while having a conversation with a woman. I had politely asked him if I may pass by him so that we may leave. He turns to look at me & asked " Hey is your dog a service animal"? Honestly I didn't know who he was to later then find out it was the owner of the establishment. I then responded to him saying " no she is not". He responds passive aggressive " Yea there is absolutely no dogs allowed in here! You'll have to take it outside!" I did not even respond & proceeded to walk out because I was already planning to do so since I was done eating after being there for well over an hour. On top of waiting for my two burgers that took approximately 45min to make & serve". I understand it may have been busy & opening day but some words of advice for this new business owner JORDAN SMALLS. Don't be rude to people coming to your support your new business while spending well over $50 for 2 burgers while leaving a very generous tip as well!! I don't understand why I was told my dog couldn't be there when I saw 5 other dogs inside the establishment while eating there. But didn't see you tell them the same thing...The food is not bad but attitude from the OWNER is extremely unacceptable to where it ruined my entire experience. Next time have a sign up so people know not to bring in their animals if they aren't allowed in the establishment. UNFORTUNATELY I WILL GLADLY NEVER BE COMING BACK TO THIS SMALL's SMASH CLUB SPOT IN LAGUNA BEACH EVER AGAIN! VERY UNACCEPTABLE! DO BETTER!!!! read more

Everyone is a food critic on yelp - it's pathetic. "Burgers lack juiciness, they save money on lack of condiments, blah blah blah..." and to give someone a bad review over your dog not being allowed in is super lame... and you saw the prices before you ordered. The atmosphere is great, the food tastes good and super stoked to have a place close by - we live up the street. When the pickles were the best part of the meal you know what the rest was like. Standard fare fries and rings, albeit plenty. BUT, we got grill scrapings, nothing close to a burger. I wasn't a fan of onion rings till now. Their onion rings are really good, their patties are cooked great, and their sauce is tasty fasho. My wife had the loaded fries and she said they were amazing! The service was quick, the employees were nice and very attentive and although it was pretty packed we were able to order within 2-4 mins of getting there and got our food in just under 15 mins. The setting of the restaurant is awesome, you're right next to the beach; who doesn't like that? This place is an 11/10 we are coming back!! read more

We ordered delivery from Small's through Toast. The food arrived incredibly fast. It was packaged in a nice box which kept it warm and fresh. We had the double smash burgers with fries and onion rings. Everything was delicious. Each burger came with a small pepper. The peppers shouldn't be eaten by the faint hearted. We live upon the street and were looking forward to the opening. Ive always been wary of the cooking technique for "smash burgers" and this experience just confirmed it. First, to say the menu is limited is being nice. They have 1, 2, and 3 patty burgers, fries and onion rings. If you want lettuce or tomatoes, forget it. If you want mustard or ketchup, forget it. No salads, no lettuce or tomato options on the burgers, and just the smalls sauce for both the burgers and the fries. The ONLY options for the burgers are extra pickles and extra jalapeños, although both those items are standard . You CAN get sliced onions extra although the burgers come with grilled onions. We found the burgers devoid of juiciness (one of the drawbacks of smashing them) , the fries thin and dry-crispy, and the onion rings middling- I've far better onion rings elsewhere. They do have a full bar but good luck getting a seat it has stools for 8. The outdoor seating that the previous Dizz's as is remains and is nice. To give them some props, they certainly dont have to worry about spoilage of vegetables and they dont have to stock both ketchup and mustard, so they can maximize profits. And they have certainly capitalized on Social Media, but the response seems far overblown compared to the products. There are fat better burgers in Laguna. Abba is one in South Laguna and Sapphire/The Pantry to the north have far better burgers with some actual choice. And even Ruby's could surpass these burgers. My friend thought even In and Out burgers were better, which I might agree with. read more
