It is a beautiful presentation and consist of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, topped with a rice base, crab stick, avocado, tuna, Masago, scallion, eel will you marry me sauce, and spicy mayo. Tsukiji consist of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, topped with seared salmon, scallions, Masago, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. Both selections were absolutely delicious. We were stuffed and happy. There is inside and outside seating. The inside is neat and clean. There are quite a few workers here. A lot of DoorDash orders were going out. Unfortunately, whatever is happening on the takeout and bagging side of the house is completely unacceptable. Whatever you do, do not place an online order for takeout. For the third time in a row, our takeout order arrived with no rice. Every entrée comes with white rice, and we even paid extra for an additional side of rice. Rice is essential to this cuisine -- it's not optional -- and when I'm paying $107 for a relatively small meal, I expect to receive what I paid for. When my wife picked up the order, she was rushed out the door and didn't have an opportunity to check the bag. I wasn't feeling well, so I had to call the restaurant, wait on hold, explain that our rice was missing, and then be told that I'd need to drive back to pick it up, turning the entire meal cold. To make matters worse, the initial offer was a $2 credit for the missing rice. Only after asking to speak with a manager did they eventually offer a $25 credit toward a future visit, which frankly required far more effort than it should have. On top of that, while the food is usually very good, tonight my entire family independently noted that the chicken had a strange plasticky, almost metallic taste, which was very odd and concerning. That's not something we've experienced here before, but it definitely added to the disappointment. Again -- the food is typically good. But the repeated takeout mistakes, lack of quality control, and poor handling of a reasonable complaint make this a hard place to recommend right now. The Lychee Martini had vodka, like juice, lychee liquor, and vermouth. My uncle said it was much too sweet for him. I had sweet iced tea. The waitress was great about bringing me a refill before I ran out, and she even offered to make me one to take on the road. Our waitress was very patient with us. It took us some time to make up our mind when deciding what to order. She checked in with us regularly, but gave us plenty of space so that we didn't feel pressured. My uncle and mom wanted spicy sauce, so she brought a small dish of Siracha sauce. Also, our sushi rolls came with golf ball sized wasabi on each plate. She took good care of us. The menu has a variety of sushi choices, but you can also find things for those who don't like fish like ramen and chicken teriyaki. For our appetizers, we had an order of fried calamari and miso soup. My mom isn't into sushi, so she ordered the shrimp and mixed vegetable tempura. It was so light and delicious! Anyone can eat at the Verde Dining Pavilion whether an ASU student, staff, or faculty member or even a community member. There is visitor parking next to the North Zone just north of University Way and south of Thunderbird Road). The cashier at the dining hall accepts cash, credit card, meal swipes, or Maroon & Gold dollars (M&G). More information about meal plans at M&G dollars can be found on the Sun Devil Hospitality (Aramark) website: https://sundevilhospitality.asu.edu. When entering the Verde Dining Pavilion, there is a salad bar immediately to the right when salad, fruit, pasta, and much more. Immediately to the left are desserts, drinks, soft-serve ice cream, cereal, and more. Straight ahead are multiple dining stations including a grill (with made-to-order items and several items of the day), deli sandwich station, pizza station, healthy options, and a home station. While the pizza and sandwiches are pretty standard, the other options rotate each day. I have found many dishes that I love, most involving chicken or beef. One of the hidden gems is to put some vanilla soft-serve ice cream in a cup of soda to make a float whether a root beer float, Dr. Pepper float, or any other option. Sun Devil Hospitality has themed days, special events, and this past Fall, we've had Fork 'em Friday Cookouts with special meals outside for a set meal price.
