Reserved a table for 9 at 5:30 for our son's graduation. We all arrived by 5:33 and were sat right away. The waitress was fine- took our orders and we got our drinks. 2 of us ordered lettuce wraps and another appetizer each- the rest of us had Teppanyaki combos. The chef was ok- typical volcano- rice in the mouth- train choo choo onion tower- nothing special and really lot engaging- the graduate felt like it was boring. We had a variety of filet and shrimp, filet and chicken, and teriyaki chicken meals as well as one that had veggies only. The first three people had plates full of rice and veggies- the person who had veggies only with the fried rice received a half a spoonful at best- the last 3 people received less than that of veggies and even less rice. Literally had to scrape the grill to get some for the last plate. The filet was tasty- the shrimp was rubbery and the chicken was overcooked. Both people that ordered lettuce wraps received frozen lettuce and then waited 25 minutes to get any other lettuce. Overall highly disappointed considering we spent over $400 on a meal that half of us left feeling hungry and 2 of us couldn't eat with the rest of the table because they had completely frozen lettuce for their lettuce wraps. Unfortunately I don't foresee anyone in our party returning to this location. read more

We booked a reservation for a large group requiring two hibachi tables/chefs at Ah-So Sushi & Steak in Peoria on a Monday evening. The restaurant wasn't busy at all with plenty of open tables and no crowds so we were surprised and disappointed when the hostess refused to seat us until every single member of our party had arrived, even though we had a confirmed reservation. A few people were running slightly late, but holding the entire group and two full hibachi setups felt overly rigid, especially on a quiet weekday. Their policy appears to allow only a short grace period, I've since seen mentions of about 10 minutes for the full party, but this wasn't clearly communicated upfront when we reserved, and it led to unnecessary waiting in the lobby. Once everyone finally arrived and we were seated, the initial service was strong: our waiter was attentive, quickly took drink and appetizer orders, and brought everything out promptly. The appetizers and drinks were solid, and the vibe of the hibachi tables is always fun with the flames, knife tricks, and chef performance. However, things went downhill from there due to the split tables. One table's group was seated and ready about 20 minutes before the second table. One chef started their full performance and cooking sequence early, while the other table waited and waited for their chef to begin. It created an awkward imbalance: half the party was eating hot food and enjoying the show while the other half sat hungry, watching from across the way. It would have been much better if the restaurant had coordinated the chefs to start simultaneously or at least closer together, especially since they knew it was one large reservation. The food itself was good standard hibachi fare with fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces, and generous portions but the uneven timing detracted from the overall enjoyment for our group. We were hoping for a cohesive, celebratory experience, but the logistics made it feel disjointed. Overall, the food and early service get points, but the strict seating policy on a slow night and lack of coordination for split hibachi tables left us frustrated. We went right when they opened. Food was pretty good, I really enjoyed that the albacore and tuna was seared with pepper! Fave way to have! Service was nice. He recommended different rolls and greeted us friendly and when we left said a sweet message. The water cups weren't fully cleaned on the outside.. was odd and made us not want to drink but there wasn't anything inside.. I would give this place another try! Trying to celebrate Father's Day and we walk into this place. Thinking it'll be a nice spot with some memories my husband and I shared, however we were met with rudeness by the host. We ask for a seat for two and her response was that her manager told her they already closed the kitchen. mind you, this was an hour before closing time and the place was not packed, hardly any cars in the parking lot and hardly any noise coming from inside the restaurant. this will no longer be a great memorable place for us to celebrate at because of the horrible treatment. read more

Ah-so has lost my business for a lifetime. We drove all the way from 303 and Waddell specifically to dine here, passing several other restaurants along the way because we chose your establishment. When we arrived at 9:15 PM, we were denied service because management had instructed the staff to close the kitchen early. Being turned away after making the trip and choosing your restaurant over many other options was extremely disappointing. Customers should be able to rely on posted business hours and expect service when they arrive during those hours. Otherwise I have a feeling this location will be closed soon. It used to be slam packed! No one wants to wait 2 hours in an empty restaurant to pay $400 for great value meat. Never again. read more

We have 3 adults and 3 kids (two 4 year old and one 7 year old) We have ordered 5 adult plates - teriyaki chicken and scallop combo, scallop, calamari and shrimp combo, beef yakisoba and shrimp yakisoba. The veggies that come with all the plates are grilled which is nice, but they are all burnt. The teriyaki chicken is hard and dried and burnt. The steak is ok, Scallop and calamari is good, not overcooked, and tastes fresh. The salad is small and the dressing is ... like black pepper with soy sauce and vinegar, it's ok, but too salty, I asked for dressing on the side, but the dressing is still ends up on the salad already when it arrives. For a total of $165+, the food is subpar. Not to mention with 3 adults, 3 small kids, they charged a 18% gratuity which brings the check $190+ The service was slow, took a good 30 mins for food to arrive, waiting for the check and someone to get our credit card took long as well. This place is expensive for a hibachi dish. A chicken plate costs $24! Anyways be aware of the gratuity charge. It was not on our bill before we give them our credit card, but appears when we sign for it. read more

if I coujd give less stars, I would. They don't honor reservations and ultimately jammed 6 of us into an 8 seat table with two other couples. Ten people with two of our group trying to dine on corners of the table. was an awful experience and couldn't even have a discussion within our group. The staff's response, when approached, is that's what we do here at AhSo. The final straw, when I tried to leave an OpenTable review they had cancelled my reservation to purposely avoid me leaving a review. This restaurant knows very little about customer service and are flat out rude. We won't be back and I'd suggest that others avoid this terrible experience. What a joke read more

Worst experience ever they didn't attend me at all when they did they placed me in grill like I wanted she then proceeded to let me wait there for 20+ minutes to tell me they won't serve me and my son at the grill because it's only 1 person... huh. Then after I went to a booth they grill cook threw rice at my booth, and they all laughed and didn't even apologize, I left with out my order and the waitress still proceeded to ask for a tip and she ended up filing a police report and waste tax dollers for me to go to court and get it dismissed because they saw the camera record and saw I did nothing wrong and they wanted me to pay them $80 plus $450 restetution, absolutely ridiculous, I will never be going to this chain again they are rude on purpose and management obviously doesn't care. read more

Dined 5/3/23: Usually have hibachi here but they only have 2 large hibachi tables & they were both taken. Rather than wait 1hr, we opted to dine in & have the food cooked by the kitchen staff. Truth, you get much more food if you have the kitchen cook it. What a nice surprise! Inside is nice & place was clean. Small location so even when it may be semi busy, there can easily be 1hr wait. We have been going to this location and the Deer Valley location a number of times and the interactions wonderful, THIS restaurant is the BEST! We went spur of the moment and it was about an hour wait for Teppanyaki and we'll worth it as always! We had a great waiter and great chef that keep interaction with the kids and rest of the guests that all of us were all talking while eating. I got the filet mignon and chicken for the first time and then steak was absolutely like butter! Chicken was dry but I was full from the steak and the perfectly cooked rice and vegetables. Perfectly fine. Reasonably priced for a teppan restaurant. Our reservations were honored as we were seated and served immediately. Our server and chef were both excellent. The only food being thrown up were the riceballs tossed in the air for us to catch. When ordering, however, be aware, you will be getting more rice than you will steak and calamari. Let me start by saying we used to eat here alot. They were very accommodating not only to my gluten allergies, but to the customer as well. Not anymore. They used to make fried rice with GF soy not anymore. They used to give a small portion of edamame since I can't have the salad or soup, not anymore. While I am writing this review though my husband, mother-in-law and , son who just graduated that day to celebrate was already fuming for an hour wait ( with a reservation no less) I still thought of giving them the benefit of the doubt since 2 chefs walked out on them. Also they were giving me grief as to why they deserve 4 stars. So i changed it. So please bear with me. We did have a reservation for 7:30pm yesterday May 20th of 2024 ( clarifications for the managements). They did say that 2 chefs walked out on them so they were running behind (or so I thought) so I wept for them, and so I waited. An hour pass and still no table available in sight my MIL demanded to be seated on a table to get drinks and app while waiting for a teppanyaki grill to open (did I mention we had a reservation?) They did say they were already cleaning it up for us to be seated and oh boy was that a FLAT OUT L I E!!! After 20 minutes of waiting with 3 starving kids mind you they showed us our grill/table and ordered quickly our food. Then we painstakingly waited, yet again. Since it has been 1 3/4 wait with a RESERVATION and no food in sight we were at the walking out planning at this point the manager in light blue shirt came out to see us and gave us the managerial apology speech we demanded a well deserved free meal which he was such a smug trying to compromise still trying to make money of off us. He did comp our meal with $100 cert check .As the teppanyaki chef finally graced us with his presence which is they were also tired since there were only 2 chefs working work his way to get our food done ( with a good entertainment of course!) this fierce bad-ass tiny boss lady came and apologized about the epic disaster that's been happening all night and gave as another $100 gc. As we try to finished, this smug of a manager with a light blue shirt still tried to get money off of me to pay for an $8 drink the boss lady passed by and told him to fuck off (my words, not them). Ok folks! Hope you enjoy my novela and learned from this review that apparently they practice this kind of treatment to do business understaffed and try to get away with it. Came here for the first time for a birthday party and had the teppanyaki dinner but also ordered sushi. The 3 stars are for the sushi because the teppanyaki was absolutely horrible. For starters we ordered the baked lobster roll and it was delicious! I definitely recommend the sushi! My bf ordered yellowtail nigiri and said it was really good. Now here's where it gets bad... We ordered the filet and chicken to split. The filet just wasn't good and the chicken was pretty good but slightly over cooked. But the RICE was absolutely disgusting. It was so hard and the cook literally threw it on the stove for 2 min. As soon as I saw him starting to put it on the plates I knew it wasn't cooked. Also, he wasn't really talking to us or being funny like they normally are. The veggies were pretty good but all in all the teppanyaki just was mediocre for price you pay.
