Came here for the first time the other night. Checked yelp and decided to go. Worth the trip, the miso soup was good, had a crunchy salmon roll and the crispy duck, both very good, nice baby bok choy underneath the duck, they have brown rice which is always a plus. The place is small, clean and new. The service was great and our entree that night came with soup, appetizer and desert. It was a great way to try a few things. Tasted the crunchy spicy tuna roll and the crispy beef and they were also savory and delicious. Will have to come for sushi only the next time, the rolls sounded inventive and a glance in the sushi fridge revealed a beautifully colored 1/4 of tuna, yum...Oh and the green tea ice cream was also good, it made me feel like it wasn't so bad to have ice cream, at least that's what I told myself. read more

Just came here for dinner for the first time using a Restaurant.com coupon. We totally loved the food! The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is quaint and quiet. I had the veggie hot and sour soup which was excellent. I also had the Thai Chicken Lettuce Cups appetizer and it was delicious! It was enough for 4 people. My hubby had the Tuna Tataki app and loved it. We both had the Crispy Beef for our main course and it was perfect! The portions are huge and the prices are so very reasonable. I used to frequent the commack location but since this opened up less than a block from my house, I couldnt be more happy. The food tastes just like commack and the service is great. Take out orders are ready way before the time stated and the same goes for delivery. The spicy chicken (general tso's at commack) is the best on the Island, period. Yes the location might have a lot of seating but its never at full capacity and to leave a 1 star review based on that is just ridiculous. The hubby and I decided to try this place since I work across the street and was starving and a couple of friends recommended it. We went on a friday night, it was pretty busy but we were seated right away. The decor is nice, there seem to be two seating areas, one more casual with tables (where we sat) and one that looked a little fancier that had nice booths, but the menu is the same in either section. The menu is kind of eclectic and features a number of styles of asian cuisine in addition to sushi and some curry dishes. I had wanted to try the singapore rice noodle dish because I had it at another place and liked it, but I know that ingredients vary from place to place (it's just that kind of dish) so I asked the waitress what was in it, but she didn't seem to know and told me it varies from place to place, which I thought was weird because we were in THIS place where SHE WORKS so I felt she should know, or she could have asked the chef, but I was starving and didn't want to get into it, and didn't want to order something I didn't like so I ended up getting something else. So here's the deal... Duck potstickers: these were just as the name says, pan fried potstickers with shredded duck and mushrooms and maybe some other veggies, served with what I think was hoisin sauce of some type (kind of asian BBQ?). they were really tasty and piping hot. Thai crispy chicken: I'm not sure what makes this dish thai, but it was really just like sesame chicken. It was really good, super crispy chunks of white meat chicken coated in a sweet glaze with sesame seeds and served with some really delicious crisp green beans. The only thing I think could improve this dish is a little kick of spice because it was mostly just sweet, but that could be a personal preference. I ate my leftovers with some hot sauce and that helped add another dimension of flavor. My husband got three sushi rolls, but as I don't eat sushi, I didn't try them, but he said they were good, not great. overall, we had a good experience there and I would go back and try some of the more adventurous dishes on the menu. But my issue with this place is that it is pretty expensive for what it is. I mean, the atmosphere is nice and the food is good, but it's not like a special occasion/date night spot, but it's not a run-of-the-mill place either. I feel like the price is just a tad too high for the overall experience, which sadly will prevent me from going back as often as I might want. Our bill for 2, with food stated above plus a beer and a wine was about $75...there are much better and fancier asian places around here if I'm going to throw around that kind of money. read more

Strictly went for the half price Sushi, so this review only refers to that. Went on Thursday night in order to try the half price Sushi and I was very impressed with the quality and freshness of the items. Two of us had a total of 7 rolls with no drinks and the total cost with 20% tip was $24! For a quick mid week Sushi fix, this hit the mark in a big way. The place is comfortable, clean and well decorated. It is a little small, but not a problem on the night we went. You order from a special 1/2 price Sushi menu by the roll, or if you want Sashimi or Nigiri you order by the piece. You can really create a lot of variety and have the types that you enjoy. I believe I saw most fish types were included in addition to many cooked or vegetable types. Not a 4 star restaurant due to the fact that the waiter seemed a bit unhappy. Not sure if it because our check was going to be small and his tip although 20% was going to be small as well, but it was $4 more than he would have had if we never showed up. How about a smile. It goes a long way. This will certainly not keep me away. If you enjoy sushi and don't like to pay a lot for it, this is the place. read more

Came here w/ the family on a Friday night. There were a lot of people but we were seated right away. The host seemed to have too many tables because we didn't get the free Chinese fried noodles and duck sauce right away...people that came minutes after us got theirs first. We ordered the Thai crisp chicken (which was basically sesame chicken w/ a little bit of spice but it tasted okay), beef Thai curry which right away was missing something in the taste but we couldn't figure out what, and some sushi rolls. They had a half-priced sushi menu so we got some shrimp tempura, eel avocado, California, and spicy salmon rolls. The shrimp tempura and California rolls tasted good and nice sized, but the eel avocado needed the eel to be cooked/heated some more because they were mushy and the spicy salmon didn't seem fresh at all and it was just mush/paste w/ no chunks at all (I like it when there's a little bit of chunks so that you're reassured that it's made of what it's supposed to be made of). I also ordered Uni and I was anticipating losing my Uni-virginity but they didn't have it. We didn't like the entrees too much, but I may go back for the half-priced sushi especially for lunch. Another thing, I was expecting a lot more on the menu because their website has a menu but a lot wasn't on the restaurant menu. It was almost as if a couple pages were missing. read more

I was driving by Wild Ginger Thurs April 4th and noticed a sign stating half price Sushi Sun - Thurs. So I stopped in and noticed the sign you you must Eat Inn to get the half price deal, Alright, so I did. The Establishment is very Clean and the Staff "Servers" were very Friendly and Accommodating the minute my water with lemon was empty the Server was there to fill it up. I ordered 4 sushi rolls, 2 eel rolls with avocado 1 roll spicy tuna with Avocado, and 1 roll spicy yellow tail with avocado, I paid the extra 50 cents per roll to have with brown rice. I have been here many times. Most recently for lunch with a friend. Their 1/2 price sushi deal is great. Our waiter brought us some piping hot edamame while we were waiting. We we're only drinking water with lemon, but the waitress kept filling and filling our glasses. It was a hot day so this was nice and refreshing! We kept it light and simple with a sweet potato roll, California roll, avocado mango roll, cucumber avocado roll, scallop sashimi and crab leg sashimi. Everything was extremely fresh. The service was very good. We left stuffed and our bill was not even $15. You can't beat that. Where else can you go and have a relaxing lunch for $10 pp including the tip? We went to the new Xaviers Cafe on main st in Smithtown last week. It was good, but it cost us over $40 for lunch with the tip. Wild Ginger is a much better deal! read more

My son chose this restaurant for his high school graduation dinner. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. Sean was our waiter, and was great in recommending appetizers for the table of 12 that included 2 young kids. My father-in-law who has traveled many places, and eats out frequently said his sushi selection was the best he ever had. They very willingly served the large cake we brought for desert. My husband and I ate at Wild Ginger for the first time last night. Set in a tiny dark strip mall we expected a Chinese-kitchen style interior and were pleasantly surprised by its pretty modern asian decor. Although it was mid-week the restaurant was full and an additional room had to be opened for diners who came after us. The Vietnamese summer spring rolls were fresh, served with a sauce which had a slight vinegar tinge. Since we are fans of Thai food, we ordered Crispy Duck and Fire Pot. The duck was served with a drizzle of a very tasty dark fruit-based sauce. The curry sauce used in the Fire Pot was absolutely excellent making us looking forward to trying their other southeast asian dishes in the future. The staff was polite and attentive. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time in spite of the restaurant appearing to be slightly understaffed on this particular evening. We will definitely use this restaurant in the future, both for take-out and eat-in. read more

Great restaurant. I've been to all the wild ginger on Long Island and the food is excellent. Even though the sushi is half price but they're fresh and the portion is plentiful. They keep there fish fresh they recently got a new head chef from Nobu in manhattan and and he keeps the quality and freshness of the fish to a high expectation. Love this place. I am so disappointed in this place. I have gone a few times and liked it but on sunday I went at 12:32 and they claim to open at 12:30, they asked us to give them 15 minutes.The door was wide open and the open sign was on. After I went to my car to wait they closed and locked the door. After waiting in my car till 1 oclock I left. I am extremely disappointed and upset with this. A nice atmosphere with some jazzy tunes, not too fancy as there are kids and chatter all around during the busy hours, but a lot more sophisticated than a diner. This was the worst dining experience I have had In a long time. They offer a 50% off sushi menu Monday thru Thursday which was slightly unnerving in the first place. There were long waits in between courses and they played the same three songs over and over for music. But the main two things being the food and the price are which totally killed it. The food was not so fresh and I couldn't even finish it. They double the price of the 50% off sushi so when they will still make the same amount in the end. But the kicker was when we got the check as it came to $80. We ordered the same thing we always do which normally comes to 40-50 dollars at other places. We did not order any alcohol either. We asked to have our six piece spicy tuna roll wrapped since we were full and were told that any half price item will be charged full price if its taken to go . Ok fine. But on closer inspection of the check I noticed that there were two charges of 13.50 for a six piece spicy tuna roll. I pointed this out to her and she said that she charged it twice since she had to charge full price on them since we were taking it home. So she wanted us to pay 27 dollars for a six piece spicy tuna roll!!!!!!! I argued with her and told her we didn't want them for 27 bucks. After wasting 20 minutes arguing about it We paid the check and vowed never ever to go back to that hell hole. These people do not know how to run a business at all. I get take out at least once a week, the Tamarind Honey Ribs have always been good. The last time they were literally half the size so when I called I was told that must be the size this month? I asked if they were going to do something for a regular customer they said no and when I said I would probably go elsewhere they couldn't care less and said so go. If you're an eel fan, this is not the place for you. otherwise, great experience. We had a table of 11 and the bill only came up to $100 and we were all full (don't know how that was possible).
